Chapter 103 Turning The Tide, Part 4/?
The dragon stood in the middle of black burned grasslands, with dozens of metallic parts spread everywhere. His black scales were covered in bruises on their charred surface, which was dimly glowing with energy moving through his scales, creating a pattern similar to those on the water surface. The pain already subsided as he kept walking around and picking the blue and red glowing spheres from the dead magitech soldiers littering the ground.
Smoke from the burned mechs was still spread everywhere, mixing with the crackling smoke from the dragon, making it impossible to see too far. Everything was quiet, with only distant sounds of explosions as the frontline moved and the sound of crashed metal as the dragon kept crushing the destroyed mechs under his legs, his large claws easily crushing metal constructs as if they were tin cans.
Something moved far in the smoke, rustling and clinging. The dragon stopped moving, his sensitive hearing and vibration-detecting organ warning him. His large, glowing reptilian eyes kept looking around, but they couldn’t penetrate through the thick smoke.
‘How is this even working? Why I can see through my own smoke, but can’t see through this smoke… That makes no sense.’
It didn’t really matter to him as the dragon had each of his senses perfected to the limits. He could feel vibrations in the air and ground or even feel changes in magic. His hearing could hear even a voice on another side of a forest. And his smell would shame even dogs. What was most terrifying was the combination of all of these senses, creating a circle of absolute perception.
The dragon remained standing quietly, waiting to see if they were friendlies or enemies.
Suddenly at least ten glowing blue spots ignited in the smoke, all of them focused on the dragon.
Vesuvius immediately tensed up, his reptilian eyes trying to penetrate through the thick smoke to see what was their origin.
‘They are blue. That is all I need to know.’
The dragon opened his mouth, and a large thick stream of magma burst out, penetrating through the thick smoke as everything got illuminated by a bright orange light.
Short bursts of blue light flashed through the smoke as the blue spots dispersed at an incredible speed, turning into smoothes of blue, easily avoiding the stream of magma that harmless splashed on the ground.
Air on the dragon’s left side vibrated, and he instantly swung his large tail in reaction. A two meters tall hunched mech with pure black chassis and bright glowing eyes burst out of the smoke. Each of its four arms had attached scythe-shaped pulsing blue blades. Long wires hung from its back, sparking in blue as he dragged them through the burned ground.
Lightning was flashing around the construct’s black body as it entered the electrifying smoke.
The large dragon’s tail, with sharp protrusion crackling with electricity, moved towards the incoming mech that bent its metal legs, leaping from the ground, ignoring the electricity sparking around its body.
The tail and the mech collided in mid-air, a loud bang accompanied by a shockwave dispersing the smoke around. The four glowing blue scythes impacted against the scales. Their sharp glowing edges were scraping against the scales, sending ripples through the water-like light on their surface, with bright blue sparks flying in all directions.
The large force behind the tail immediately sent the mech flying backwards, mechanical joints in its arms screeching under the pressure.
Vesuvius quickly used his analysis, wanting to know what he was fighting.

‘Elite? Now when I am injured, what sick joke is it? At least they are just elite unit. They are annoying but definitely much less dangerous than one powerful miniboss.’
The dragon coiled around, launching himself towards the flying commando mech, his large scaled body moving with elegance and speed, without his armour slowing him down.
His mouth opened, releasing a wave of golden-orange flames that passed through the smoke, incinerating everything on its way, turning the mech into a puddle of molten metal.

Air vibrated on his side but he was too slow to react as suddenly two strong impacts to his side sent him toppling down as he rolled through the ground, his heavy body rolling and crashing all of the metal junk spread through the ground. Two pitch-black magitech constructs were clinging to his sides, slashing their blue blades against his scales as maniacs, leaving deep scratches on each swing.
Wanting to crash them, the dragon rolled to the side, but the constructs immediately jumped backwards, their mechanical joints making hydraulic sounds as they retreated, vanishing in the thick clouds of smoke.
‘This would be so easy if I still had my armour and could unleash my electrical nova to fry everything around me.’
Four blue lights appeared in the smoke as two black metallic constructs launched at him, dirt rustling under their legs as they leapt towards the dragon. Their curved scythe-like blades were moving towards the dragon, wind squealing around their blades as they moved with such speed that they turned into the blue blur for normal human eyes.
A magical circuit formed in the dragon’s mind, pulsing in electrical blue light as a wave of mana spread through his veins and entered his skin. Suddenly dozens of electrical tendrils rose up from his scaled body, violently swinging around as whips. His whole body was glowing in bright blue and gold electrical light.
The two constructs reached him and their glowing blades hit against the scales glowing in the faint light that was moving on their surface. Their blades screeched as they scraped against the hard scales. The tendrils of lightning violently flashed as they moved upward the blades, striking the bodies of the mechs.
The blue and gold lightning surged along their metallic bodies, sparking with a swarm of electrical sparks flying out of them. Thick black smoke rose out of their shaking bodies.
They immediately jumped back, their bodies smoking and their blue eyes flickering. Their movements became laggy and clunky, and Vesuvius immediately used that. He opened his mouth, showing his large teeth; a golden orange glow rose from the depth of his throat before a thick stream of magma blasted out.
The stream of magma moved towards the smoking mechs like an unstoppable wave, illuminating everything in a flash of orange light. The blazing hot molten stone splashed on the mechs, covering their whole bodies. They immediately turned red before melting into a puddle of molten metal and stone.
