Chapter 1561: There is a girl inside Vesperine, you know?
Aether and Victor were friends, which meant one thing she had tried very hard not to think about… Aether might have told him the truth about her!
Vesperine felt her chest tighten as unease coiled within her, her thoughts racing faster than she could contain them.
The first had been simple and almost laughably practical. Aether had no overwhelming power, no terrifying dominance inside his own created barrier. Victor, on the other hand, could absorb energy and release it at will, a man who could erase her existence without effort if things turned against her.
That alone had pushed her toward Aether, toward the safer path.
The moment she crossed into his Empire, she knew… she fucked up!
If he remembered, if he chose to confront her about it, there would be no forgiveness waiting on the other side.
That was her decision, firm and final, something she told herself she would not waver on, no matter what happened.
“Shall we talk?”
Victor stood at her doorstep.
There had been no warning, no message, no time to prepare or escape. The mighty Dragon Emperor himself had appeared simply because she refused to meet him, as if rejection meant nothing to a man who had never been denied.
For a moment, her mind went completely blank, as if the world had paused around her. She truly believed she was about to die, that in the next second she would be reduced to nothing, her body erased before she could even react.
And yet, he was just standing there, looking at her, asking to… talk?
What kind of twisted situation was this?
There was no one to witness this moment, no one to intervene if something went wrong.
What if he tried to force her into something she could not refuse?
No, she could not afford to be careless.
She needed to move carefully, think clearly, and avoid repeating the same mistakes.
Letting him step into a silent mansion while her husbands were away… She oddly felt wrong!
Ssss~
Drip~
She quickly wiped it away and said loudly.
Guilt?
The thought rose shamelessly in her mind!
A Dragon Emperor had come all the way to see her, standing at her doorstep as if she were worth that attention. That alone sent a strange, excited warmth through her chest.
And in case of danger… she could just teleport away, that’s all!
Once he stepped inside, Vesperine quietly shut the mansion door behind him and locked it firmly, the sound of the latch clicking into place echoing faintly in the silent hall.
Just in case.
That was all there was to it.
That was definitely the only reason.
Absolutely not!!!
They both took their seats, though Vesperine’s composure was far from calm. Her eyes trembled ever so slightly,
Victor did not answer immediately.
For a few long seconds, his gaze remained fixed, steady and unreadable. Vesperine could not clearly see his full expression, yet his eyes alone carried a weight that made her heart stumble.
This was the first time she had ever been this close to the Dragon Emperor.
Back then, he had felt untouchable, a figure that existed beyond reach.
The man she had once watched from afar now sat within arm’s reach, his presence overwhelming in a way she had not prepared for.
She lifted her hand and lightly fanned her face, trying to cool the warmth that refused to fade.
Victor let out a quiet hum before speaking, “Pardon me. I did not mean to stare at your face.”
“Different than before?” Vesperine blinked, caught off guard by his words.
But then the memory surfaced, dragging her thoughts back to the first time they had met.
Their first meeting had not been anything close to normal.
And what followed… was something she wished she could erase.
And in that moment, exposed and helpless, the first one to see her in such a filthy state was… Victor.
A weak, silent laugh echoed inside her mind as she mentally buried her face in shame, wishing she could undo that moment, no matter how many times she replayed it.
But now things were different.
She had lost someone who had loved her without her nectar’s help.
For Kaelen!
That Motherfucker!
Victor’s voice cut through her spiralling thoughts, “You don’t remember our first meeting?”
“P-Please… I… I really didn’t do anything there… I just… I am…” Her words stumbled over each other, breaking apart before they could form anything coherent. Her face deepened into a vivid red, embarrassment completely swallowing her voice until she could not say another word.
This was the first time in her life she had reacted like this in front of a man.
The moment those words reached her ears, Vesperine let out a strained, almost desperate sound as she covered her face with both hands.
Victor let out a quiet chuckle. Then his expression softened, his gaze turning more thoughtful as he looked at her again.
His eyes moved over her slowly, taking in every detail without rushing.
“You look more mature now,” he said, “There is… a certain allure to you. A more Sexy Vibe”
“And yet…” Victor continued gently, his voice lowering just enough to draw her attention back.
“….”
For a brief moment, everything seemed to freeze.
That small motion snapped her out of it.
Victor blinked, caught slightly off guard by the sudden shift, but before he could respond, she had already stood up and turned away.
The moment she reached the kitchen, she shut the door behind her.
The sound echoed faintly as her back pressed against the door, her strength giving out all at once. Her legs trembled before collapsing, forcing her down until she sat on the floor, unable to hold herself up any longer.
Her heart was racing?
This was deeper, heavier, each beat pressing against her chest as if trying to break free.
Her husbands had said many things to her before. They praised her beauty, admired her actions, and reassured her in ways she had grown used to.
This was different.
Her fingers tightened against her chest.
They said what she needed to hear, what made her feel wanted, but a small part of her had always questioned it.
If she had not played the role so perfectly?
Would they still love her and say those words?
So she hardened herself.
She became someone stronger, someone sharper, someone who could handle everything without breaking.
Not one of them had ever looked at her the way Victor just did.
After completely evolving into what her Master had wanted, she had become everything they admired.
Yet beneath that refined, mature exterior, beneath the confidence and sensuality she had learned to carry so well, there still remained a quiet, untouched part of her.
That part of her had always stayed hidden.
Not loudly, not violently, but in a way that spread through her like a sudden shift beneath the surface, subtle yet impossible to ignore.
“You are still cute and innocent inside. You have not changed at all, Vesperine.”
The words echoed in her mind, repeating again and again, stretching endlessly as a voice carried across mountains, returning to her over and over without fading.
Slowly, she lifted her face, which was flushed a deep red.
Her gaze drifted downward, landing on her own body, on the curves she had shaped, the changes she had forced upon herself.
Meanwhile, Victor remained seated on the sofa, completely at ease. His chin rested lightly against his knuckles, his eyes closed as though he were lost in thought.
