Chapter 1539: Being Master of three pets is not easy, you know!

Chapter 1539: Being Master of three pets is not easy, you know!

While Aria and the others were busy negotiating terms with sharp smiles and sharper intentions… Back in the Frostblad Mansion, Vesperine had walked straight into what could only be described as an emotional apocalypse, wearing three identical faces!

“I-If you marry him, I will cut my throat!” Kai declared with a cracking voice. His hand trembled violently as he pressed the flat of the sword against his own neck, eyes glossy and wide as though the world had already ended and no one had informed him politely.

“I will burn the entire world!!” Leon roared from beside him, flames spilling out between his teeth in uneven bursts.

“P-Please, Vesp… anyone but him!” Finnian collapsed to his knees in front of her, clutching the hem of her dress as if it were the last anchor keeping him from drowning. His shoulders shook while he tried to breathe through sobs, having only heard from Kai and Leon about the deal she made with Aether.

Vesperine stood frozen for a long second, blinking at them as though she had stepped into the wrong play mid-performance. Her eyes moved from sword to flames to kneeling disaster, and genuine confusion tightened her brow.

What the fuck happened here?

They had been perfectly normal yesterday before she left to handle some personal matters. And now she returned to find three grown men spiralling like abandoned toddlers in a thunderstorm.

She clicked her tongue and walked past them, sitting down on the sofa with deliberate calm, crossing one leg over the other.

“And who exactly told you I was going to marry Aether?” she asked slowly.

The trio froze for half a heartbeat before collectively breaking even further.

“So it is true after all! Awweeeee!!” Kai wailed, collapsing onto Leon dramatically as though stabbed by invisible betrayal. His sword clattered uselessly to the floor while he buried his face into his brother’s shoulder.

“S-See? This is the end… my brothers… this is the end for us!” Leon declared with grave seriousness, gripping both of their shoulders as if delivering final words before execution.

Finnian joined the pile of misery, hugging them both and sobbing loudly. “We were happy yesterday… we had plans… we were going to eat together… and now she is throwing us away like leftover vegetables!”

Vesperine stared at the writhing knot of limbs and tears. She rubbed her forehead slowly.

“Why are you three acting like the world is ending?” she asked, “No one is dying. No one is being abandoned. I literally asked who told you that-”

“AWWEEEEEE!!!” they screamed together again, louder this time.

Her lips twitched… These crybabies had somehow convinced themselves of a tragedy so grand it deserved background music!

“Listen to me properly,” she said, standing up now, hands on her hips as she looked down at them. “If you keep howling like wounded puppies without brains, I going to-”

“DON’T LEAVE US!!” they shouted in unison before diving forward and wrapping around her legs. Their grip tightened desperately, faces pressed against her knees.

Vesperine stiffened, stunned by the sudden intensity.

She was not leaving them.

The thought had not even crossed her mind.

She looked down at their trembling expressions.

“You idiots,” she muttered softly, “I am not going to leave you. I am not marrying anyone without saying so. And I am definitely not disappearing overnight.”

They slowly lifted their heads, eyes shining like abandoned puppies offered hope.

“Really?” Finnian whispered.

“Really,” she replied firmly, “If I ever decide something like that, you will hear it from me directly.”

Relief exploded across their faces in synchronised transformation. They immediately wiped their noses shamelessly on her skirt while sniffling loudly, showing absolutely no dignity.

Sniiifffff!!

“She is not leaving,” Kai announced in awe.

Grrmmffff!

“Yeah… she loves us more,” Leon added, nodding deeply while still clutching her leg.

Sniiifffff!!

“Hah… God is real,” Finnian murmured with exaggerated gratitude, clasping his hands together like a devotee saved from doom.

However, Vesperine’s forehead veins protruded in barely controlled rage as she looked down at her wonderful, costly skirt being treated like a common snot cloth.

’These fucking assholes!’ She clenched her fist, nails digging into her palm as she fought the urge to fling all three of them out the nearest window.

“So you are not going to marry him?” Kai asked with a hopeful gaze.

All three of them stared at her with shimmering eyes, hanging on her answer as though their souls depended on it.

Vesperine blankly stared back at them, calculating. She knew Kai hated Aether, and Leon hated Aether simply because Kai hated him.

Sigh…

As for Finnian… well, he had been thoroughly broken by Aether before, and she had shamelessly used that wound to her advantage.

Which was exactly why she had hidden certain details.

’Fuck!’ she cursed inwardly before letting out a long, slow breath.

“My darlings,” she began sweetly, her tone suddenly smooth as silk, “he is the Emperor of the Three Empires. Of course, it would be best if he stood on my side.”

Everyone blinked in synchronised confusion.

Finnian tilted his head slightly, still sniffling. “So… you are not marrying him out of love?”

Vesperine smiled gently and shook her head with composed elegance.

“Of course… not.”

Love?

Absolutely not.

For his cock?

Well… perhaps a little.

But most importantly, her Master had taken an unusual interest in Aether.

If something so valuable lay on the table, why would she allow someone else to take the first slice? Besides, he was admittedly kind of cute, and she was dangerously curious about the expression he would make when she finally pushed him against a wall and fuck him mindlessly!

The trio released a collective sigh so heavy it could have extinguished Leon’s flames.

“She didn’t love him,” Kai muttered with a firm nod, as though confirming a sacred prophecy.

“Yeah… she loves us more,” Finnian added, pressing a hand dramatically to his chest.

Leon, however, frowned in deep thought, his brows knitting together dangerously.

“But… why would she marry him if she does not love him?” he asked slowly. “Does she plan to fall in love after marriage?”

Their faces turned pale in synchronised horror as realisation dawned in the worst possible direction.

“NO!!!” they screamed together.

“Shit!” Vesperine immediately stepped backwards, lifting her skirt just enough to save it from another incoming assault of tears and mucus.

“What the fuck are you idiots talking about now?”

She glared at them with sharpened irritation.

“I want to marry him for the political power he holds. That is the point.”

“I-Is it?” Kai asked cautiously.

She nodded confidently.

“Of course. What else did you think?” she continued, crossing her arms as a dangerous smile curved her lips.

“Once I marry him, I will gain the majority of that power. With it, I can restore handsome Kai’s dignity and expand his territory properly. Then I will quietly break Aether’s relationship with Victor and push them toward conflict. While they exhaust each other, my cute Dragon can reclaim his throne, and then, make sure the Aurora people, who were their real saviour, will worship my innocent darling as their rightful ruler. Tell me… is that wrong?”

“…”

For a moment, they flinched.

Then, as if struck by the sheer brilliance of her villainous brilliance, their expressions exploded into joy.

“AWEEEE!” they cried in happiness, leaping toward her once again and clinging to her skirt without hesitation.

Vesperine’s eye twitched violently.

“O-Our darling is doing this for us? Sniffeee…” Kai stammered, his voice trembling so badly that he could barely form the words. His fingers clutched the edge of her skirt like a lifeline, tears dripping shamelessly onto the already abused fabric.

“S-She cares so much that she is ready to m-marry that bastard? Snifffeee…” Leon added, biting his lip while trying to suppress another wave of sobbing, which failed miserably.

“I-I… I wronged you. Please forgive me! Awweee… sniff!!” Finnian cried, pressing his forehead dramatically against her knee as though seeking divine absolution.

’Shit! Fucking assholes! Stop it!’ Vesperine screamed internally while watching her beautiful skirt transform into a tear-soaked, mucus-covered tragedy.

’Yuck! I am never wearing this again!’ she thought furiously, her eye twitching ever so slightly. Yet on the outside, her face remained calm, gentle, and almost saintly.

“Oh dear, you all thought I was doing it for myself?” she asked softly, tilting her head just enough to appear wounded by the idea.

All three of them nodded weakly, their faces twisted with guilt and shame, eyes swollen and pitiful.

They looked like criminals awaiting sentencing.

“Oh, silly boys…” she continued in a voice dripping with tenderness. “Of course it is for you. I would never willingly touch the man who hurt you all so deeply.” She reached down and patted their heads slowly, fingers brushing through their hair with affection.

Their hips literally shook as if invisible tails were wagging uncontrollably behind them.

“Oh, sweetie… please forgive us. We should not have jumped to conclusions,” Kai sniffed, wiping his nose with the skirt.

’Fuck you!’

“Yeah… I am so sorry,” Leon muttered.

“M-Me too… Please punish me!” Finnian blurted out desperately.

Vesperine smiled softly at her loyal puppies, her fingers still resting on their heads as they leaned into her touch.

Then, slowly, her expression shifted. The warmth in her eyes deepened into something more calculating, more thoughtful.
