Konoha: Let's Just Destroy It

Chapter 91: They All Have Quite the Personality

  • Next Chapter

The Rooftop.

Naruto, Sasuke, and Hinata stood together.

Kakashi sat against the railing with his arms folded, scanning the three of them.

"Ever since they left the classroom, both Hinata and Sasuke have been half a step behind Naruto.

"Whenever they turn a corner or climb the stairs, they instinctively wait for Naruto to go first.

"They revolve around Naruto as the absolute center."

Based on the information in their files and his brief observations just now, Kakashi had already determined the hierarchy among the three.

Putting those thoughts aside, Kakashi spoke.

"By the way, let’s start with some introductions."

Hinata and Sasuke instinctively glanced at Naruto.

Kakashi’s heart stirred.

His judgment was correct.

Naruto spoke in an indifferent tone.

"Shouldn’t you introduce yourself first, Sensei?"

Kakashi pointed at himself.

"Me?"

Naruto nodded.

Kakashi introduced himself.

"My name is Kakashi Hatake. As for what I like and dislike... I don’t feel like telling you. As for my dreams... Well, I have quite a few interests."

Hearing this, Sasuke’s face was covered in black lines.

Were all the Jonin in Konoha this arrogant?

Naruto didn’t care.

He smiled and said,

"My name is Naruto Uzumaki."

That was it.

Sasuke’s heart stirred, and he followed.

"Uchiha Sasuke."

"I..."

Hinata opened her mouth.

She had originally intended to give a proper and polite introduction.

But after thinking about it, she didn’t want to make herself stand out.

So she simply said,

"My name is Hinata Hyuga."

Kakashi was stunned.

"You’re just giving me your names? Aren’t you going to tell me what you like, what you dislike, what your interests are, what your dreams are, or something like that?"

Naruto looked at him strangely.

"Sensei, you said all that, but you only gave us your name too."

Sasuke and Hinata nodded firmly.

Their expressions clearly said:

If you don’t tell us, neither will we.

Kakashi was speechless.

These students were really difficult to deal with.

He already didn’t particularly like them.

"All right. The three of you certainly have quite the personalities. At least we know each other now.

"Starting tomorrow, you’ll begin taking missions."

Naruto, Sasuke, and Hinata nodded.

Kakashi was speechless again.

Couldn’t they show a little more enthusiasm?

Shouldn’t they at least ask what kind of missions?

Kakashi secretly sighed.

"Although you’ve already graduated, you still need to pass my test before you can truly be considered Genin.

"There are twenty-seven graduates in this class.

"Only nine of you will pass my test and officially become Genin.

"The remaining eighteen will be sent back to the Academy for another year of training.

"In other words, the elimination rate for this test is an extremely high sixty-six percent."

Naruto, Sasuke, and Hinata nodded.

None of them cared.

Naruto already knew what the test was about, so he naturally wasn’t concerned.

Sasuke genuinely didn’t care.

Having a teacher controlling him after becoming a shinobi?

Wasn’t that just a waste of time?

He wanted to go to the Sound Village and get revenge on Kimimaro for beating him more than five hundred times.

As for Hinata...

If Naruto couldn’t become a shinobi, then whether she became one or not didn’t really matter either.

The Hyuga main family already enjoyed certain privileges and didn’t necessarily have to carry out shinobi missions.

Kakashi had already given up on expecting much from their reactions.

He could only say,

"Looks like you’re all quite confident.

"Then tomorrow at six in the morning, meet me at Training Ground Seven. I’ll determine whether you’re qualified.

"All right. Dismissed."

With that, Kakashi used the Body Flicker Technique and disappeared from the rooftop.

Naruto turned toward Hinata.

"Hinata, I’ll walk you home."

"Mm."

Hinata happily answered.

The two held hands and walked toward the stairs.

Sasuke, who had originally planned to walk home with Naruto, immediately darkened.

As expected.

Naruto really did value girls over friends.

He was completely unnecessary in this team.

Without saying anything, Sasuke jumped directly off the rooftop and left.

He couldn’t even stand walking down the same staircase as the two of them.

Meanwhile.

Hokage’s Office.

Hiruzen Sarutobi looked at Kakashi standing before him.

"How did it go? Tell me what you think of them."

Kakashi answered, "They’re a little too confident and indifferent."

Hiruzen nodded slightly.

"Confidence is normal. They’re the elites of their class.

"And naturally, confident people won’t care much about ordinary tests."

Kakashi opened his mouth.

The feeling Naruto’s team gave him wasn’t simply that they didn’t care about the test.

It was more like...

They didn’t care about becoming shinobi.

But that was only a feeling, and Kakashi wasn’t certain.

Perhaps the Third Hokage was right.

Maybe they simply didn’t care about the test.

As though remembering something, Hiruzen said,

"Kakashi, you may need to change your strategy.

"They already have enough bonds between them. The old approach won’t work.

"Naruto and Sasuke have trained extremely hard over the past few years. You can try testing their limits.

"They may be stronger than ordinary elite graduates, perhaps even stronger than elite students who have already graduated a year or two ago.

"I estimate their taijutsu is around Chunin level."

Kakashi was puzzled.

"Estimate? Doesn’t Uchiha Izumi have accurate information?"

As Naruto’s caretaker, she should have known his strength very clearly.

Hiruzen shook his head.

"Without using Sharingan genjutsu, Uchiha Izumi can no longer defeat Naruto in taijutsu alone.

"Sasuke is probably only slightly weaker than Naruto.

"But if she uses Sharingan genjutsu, Izumi can restrain them with a single glance.

"Their talents and areas of focus are different. Sharingan genjutsu counters taijutsu, so Izumi simply can’t accurately test them.

"She can only roughly judge that Naruto’s taijutsu is at Chunin level based on her own strength.

"You also know that although Uchiha Izumi has been promoted to Chunin, at most she can take on short-distance escort missions.

"She has to return home every evening before the Ninja Academy dismisses its students.

"So over the years, she has rarely fought anyone.

"Her assessment of their Chunin-level strength is only based on comparison with her own abilities.

"She’s done an excellent job taking care of Naruto, but she isn’t a qualified shinobi."

Kakashi’s heart stirred.

No wonder they were so confident.

Although Uchiha Izumi was a slacker, she had already become a Chunin, so her taijutsu naturally wasn’t weak.

As for her Sharingan genjutsu, it was extremely impressive.

She probably wouldn’t have much trouble being promoted to Tokubetsu Jonin.

Yet Uchiha Izumi couldn’t even defeat Naruto and Sasuke in taijutsu alone.

It seemed that Naruto and the others had basically been playing around with their grades at the Ninja Academy.

If they were like other students, they probably would have graduated early already.

Then Kakashi thought of something.

"Hokage-sama, what about Hyuga Hinata?"

Hiruzen answered,

"Hyuga Hinata is also very strong.

"According to our information, she has been sparring with Hyuga Neji, Might Guy’s student, every evening.

"Their strength is roughly equal."

"Roughly equal?"

Kakashi froze.

He and Might Guy were good friends.

He had heard Guy talk about his student more than once.

Apparently, even an ordinary Chunin might not necessarily be able to defeat Hyuga Neji.

Kakashi hadn’t expected that soft-spoken little girl, Hinata, to actually fight Neji to a standstill.

Hiruzen nodded.

"That’s right.

"If Naruto and Sasuke have consistently remained above Hinata, then naturally their strength is even greater.

"Test them properly.

"Their weaknesses are the limited number of ninjutsu they know and their lack of experience dealing with ninjutsu.

"Sasuke only knows the Great Fireball Technique, while Naruto only knows the Uzumaki clan’s secret technique, the Adamantine Sealing Chains.

"Kakashi, don’t underestimate them.

"If you end up overturning in the gutter, you’ll only embarrass yourself."

Toward the end, Hiruzen even joked with Kakashi.

The Third Hokage still hadn’t realized how serious the situation was.

He was still secretly delighted that Konoha had produced three geniuses.
