Chapter 70: Chapter 70: rain hell
The women around them froze and stepped back.
Shock and raw fear wiped every trace of earlier cruelty from their faces as they stared at the transformation.
Amelia pushed herself to her feet.
The wind hit almost immediately.
It swept through the garden with enough force to send dresses and loose hair flying. Decorations rattled against the walls, and the flowers scattered across the ground.
Jade’s voice cracked. "What’s going on?"
Amelia looked at her for a long moment before the corner of her mouth lifted.
"Still too stupid to figure it out. I’m almost impressed."
A bolt of purple lightning struck the ground directly in front of Jade.
The explosion sent dirt and pieces of stone flying. Jade screamed and stumbled backward. The women around her scattered, shouting over one another as they ran.
"It’s the curse!"
"It’s the same thing that happened at the wedding!"
"Get inside, Its come back!"
Jade shouted after them. "Come back here, help your Luna" but none of them stopped.
When she looked back, Amelia was already walking toward her.
She longer looked like the soft, enduring orphan she had spent years looking down on. Amelia’s glowing eyes and luminous white-streaked hair made her seem almost otherworldly.
Jade’s heart hammered so hard it hurt. Another bolt of lightning struck the earth inches from her feet and she screamed again.
"Ahhh.."
Behind Amelia, Skye remained completely still. Her eyes moved from Amelia’s glowing hair to the lightning tearing through the sky.
She had all of this inside her?
The sheer volume of rage pouring off Amelia was staggering. She had known the girl can get angry. She had not understood how much of the anger Amelia can pour out of her.
I am never going to get her this angry, ever.
Amelia stopped a few steps from Jade.
"You were my best friend."
Jade swallowed.
"I trusted you with everything. I defended you when people talked about you. I made excuses for you when you didn’t deserve them."
Amelia’s fingers curled slowly at her sides.
"And while I was doing that, you were laughing behind my back. You slept with the man I loved, smiling with everyone that treated me like garbage, and even supported the plan that should have led to my death."
Jade’s lips parted, but no words came.
"And now you thing you can bully me, you think you could humiliate me again?"
Amelia’s eyes narrowed.
"Not anymore."
The wind pushed violently through the garden.
"If you ever try to hurt me again, I’ll let the lightning rewrite you. Burn the arrogance out of your skin. Leave you something the territory won’t even recognize."
Jade’s eyes went wide. The realization hit her like a physical blow. When she spoke, her voice had thinned into something high, trembling, and barely controlled—the sound of genuine terror.
"You’re the one doing this?"
Amelia said nothing.
"You have powers?"
"I’m everything you tried to become. And more. That’s how it’s always going to be. And I will never let you hurt me again!"
Several bolts struck the ground at once.
The pack house shook.
A section of the roof cracked under the impact, windows shattered, and people screamed as they ran for cover. Dust and debris filled the air.
Jade’s face twisted.
"It was your fault all along!! You’re the one who ruined my wedding. Everything that’s gone wrong is your—"
The rest of the sentence died in her throat when she truly registered the look on Amelia’s face. This was not a bluff.
She kept stumbling backward, head whipping from side to side as she screamed for help that wasn’t coming. Finally she turned fully toward Amelia, hands raised.
"Wait." she raised both hands. "I’m sorry."
Amelia stopped.
Jade’s voice shook. "I said I’m sorry."
"No you’re not."
Jade’s eyes filled with tears. "I am sorry. I swear I am."
She dropped to her knees. "I’m sorry! Isn’t that what you want? I’m sorry for sleeping with Dylan—just spare my life. Please. I can’t die. Please—"
"Enough!"
Amelia’s scream tore out of her with raw, uncontrolled force. The wind answered instantly, slamming into Jade hard enough to nearly lift her off the ground and send her skidding backward across the grass.

Inside the ruined living room, the fight had turned brutal.
The brothers’ bodies were marked with cuts and darkening bruises. Blood streaked across knuckles, temples, and torn clothing. The powder’s lingering effect had left them slower than they should have been, forced to absorb blows they would normally have avoided without effort.
Dylan watched from behind, laughter sharp with triumph.
"Look at you. The great Ellington brothers—bleeding and cornered. How does hopelessness feel?"
The words died in his throat.
The entire space plunged into sudden, unnatural darkness. Dylan’s head snapped up.
"What—?"
Lightning answered.
A massive purple bolt punched through the side wall, blowing stone and timber outward in a violent explosion. Another strike hit higher—the ceiling above them cracked with a deafening roar as the upper floor gave way and came crashing down in a cascade of debris. Dust and shattered wood filled the air. Dylan staggered back, voice rising in genuine panic.
"What’s happening?!"
More lightning tore through the structure in reply. He spun toward the nearest guards, shouting over the chaos.
"Get me out of here! Finish them—now!"
The three brothers felt it at the same moment.
The heavy, dragging weakness that had clung to their limbs began to lift. Their strength was back.
They instantly recognized the lightening and knew what’s causing it. More like who was causing it.
Amelia.
Something, or someone, had caused her to have a strong emotion right now.
And it has been in their favor.
The remaining guards barely had time to react. Enzo landed devastating strike to the throat of the nearest man. Bodies dropped amid the rubble.
They turned towards the direction where dylan fled—only for another series of lightning bolts to rip through the air around them, forcing them to halt.
Enzo urgently shouted through the destruction,
"If this keeps up she’ll level the entire place. We need to get out—now."
Neither brother argued.
They cut a path through the collapsing structure and emerged into the open air, already moving fast toward the source of the storm. Toward Amelia.
