Chapter 107: Chapter 107: wild day

Amelia bit the insides of her cheeks hard enough to sting, forcing the rising heat in her face to stay down. She pushed against his chest with both hands, but Reid didn’t move an inch. His grip on her wrist remained light, yet completely immovable.

"Whatever happened was just a dream," she muttered, eyes fixed somewhere past his shoulder.

Reid’s brow lifted a fraction.

"I didn’t mention anything about a dream." A slow, knowing pause. "Does that mean we shared the same one?"

Amelia’s fingers curled against the front of his shirt.

"Please leave me alone."

She still couldn’t look him in the eye. Reid noticed. The teasing edge in his expression softened. He released her wrist without another word and stepped back, giving her space.

Amelia immediately turned toward her bag and began packing with sharp, hurried movements— zipper yanked harder than necessary.

Then the door slammed open.

"Skree-ah!" Amelia shrieked, spinning around so fast she nearly dropped the bag.

Dean strode in without knocking, expression already dark with impatience.

"Do you ever use the handle like a normal person, or is breaking down my door just your preferred morning workout?"

Amelia finished stuffing the last item into the bag and straightened, forcing a tight smile that didn’t reach her eyes.

"Off I go. See you all later."

She tried to step past Dean. He blocked her path with one easy shift of his body, arms crossing over his chest.

"Have you forgotten?"

The question landed like a quiet reminder. Amelia’s stomach twisted. She had promised him they would eat together. After last night, she couldn’t sit across from anyone right now.

"W-we can do that another time," she stammered.

Dean’s eyes narrowed slightly.

"Did something happen? Isn’t it to early for you to leave?"

"It’s serious," she said quickly, already edging sideways. "I’ll definitely eat with you when I come back. Just... sit tight."

She didn’t wait for a reply. She slipped past him and practically fled the room, the sound of her footsteps fading rapidly down the hallway.

Dean turned slowly to Reid, suspicion clear in every line of his face.

"What did you do to her?"

Reid leaned back against the wall, the picture of unhelpful calm. "I’m not telling. It’s a secret between us."

Dean’s voice dropped. "You didn’t touch her without her permission, right? If you did, I will make your jaw fly."

"I’m not that desperate. Not like someone who turned his entire head of hair into a disaster just because he wanted to get noticed."

Dean’s eyes widened.

Reid shrugged, clearly enjoying himself. "Words spread very quickly around here. I wish I’d gotten a picture of that, though."

Dean’s hands flexed at his sides. For a second it looked like he might actually punch him

Amelia kept running.

She didn’t slow down until she rounded the next corner and collided hard with someone. The impact knocked the air from her lungs and sent her bag tumbling to the floor.

"Watch where you’re going," Skye said, steadying herself. Her green eyes narrowed. "Why are you even running?"

The memory of Skye and Rue tangled naked on the bed slammed back into Amelia’s mind. Heat rushed up her neck. She quickly crouched to grab her bag, fingers fumbling with the strap.

"I’m studying with my classmates before the exams," she said too quickly. "Gotta go."

Skye studied her and a slow, knowing smirk curved her lips.

"You look like someone who just got caught doing something very naughty," she said, voice dropping into something almost teasing. "Face all red, breathing hard... like you spent the night getting thoroughly wrecked and then had to face the man who did it."

Amelia nearly choked. "You’re spouting nonsense."

She turned and walked away at a pace that was just short of another run. Skye remained where she was, watching her retreat with narrowed eyes.

Something had definitely happened between Amelia and Reid in that room.

Were they already getting... intimate?

Amelia reached the ground floor without further incident and let out a quiet breath of relief. No Enzo. Good. She stepped outside and spotted the familiar black vehicle waiting near the entrance—only for a guard to call her back.

"Miss. The driver isn’t feeling well today."

Of all days?

"How am I supposed to get to school then?"

"Master Enzo is already aware. He’s making arrangements."

That was... good. She needed to find him quickly, before Reid or Dean decided to come downstairs. Amelia turned and hurried back inside.

Almost as if on cue, she saw Enzo jogging lightly down the corridor toward her. The moment their eyes met he slowed at once, shifting into a normal walk as if he had never been moving faster.

"I was just about to head out," he said, stopping a few steps away. "I’m surprised you’re leaving early today. What’s the occasion?"

"There isn’t one," Amelia answered. "Where is the new driver?"

Enzo paused. A faint curve of his lips followed.

"I am your driver."

Amelia’s entire body froze. The expression that crossed her face was pure, silent horror—the earth should just open up and swallow me right now.

Enzo reached out and took her hand with quiet certainty.

"Let’s go."

He led her back outside without waiting for an argument. At the vehicle he opened the passenger door for her. Amelia climbed in, still too stunned to speak, and watched as he walked around, settled into the driver’s seat, started the engine, and pulled away from the estate.

They left the gates behind in silence. The road stretched ahead, quiet under the early morning light.

Enzo’s voice broke the silence. "So...how was your night?"

Amelia’s fingers tightened around the strap of her bag.

"Nothing happened. I just slept. And woke up. And left. Whatever Reid told you isn’t true."

Enzo glanced at her, genuine confusion flickering across his face. "Reid didn’t tell me anything...."

Amelia’s ears burned. "Oh. My sleep was... terrific. Normal. Nothing special happened. Forget I said anything."

A soft, almost amused sound left Enzo’s throat. "Hh-hmp." He chuckled under his breath. "Did Reid do something?"

"I don’t want to talk about it." she said tightly. "I don’t want to talk."

She kept her face turned toward the window, refusing to look at him. If she did, he would see exactly how red her cheeks had become.

Enzo lifted one hand and rubbed it slowly across his mouth, as if trying to hide the smile that refused to stay down.

"No problem."

The rest of the drive passed in silence. When the campus buildings finally came into view, Amelia reached for the door handle the moment the car slowed to a stop. She pulled. Nothing happened.

She tried again. "It’s not opening."

"I know. You’re missing something."

Amelia turned to him, frowning. "What’s that?"

He tapped his own cheek twice.

"Aren’t you supposed to thank me?"
