Knight: from Apprentice to the Almighty
Chapter 634 - 537: Three Deities
Chapter 634: Chapter 537: Three Deities
The confrontation between the two goddesses did not erupt into a violent clash of Energy. Instead, two conceptual Powers—diametrically opposed yet born from the same source—quietly wrestled within this plane of consciousness.
It made Roland feel as if his soul was caught between ice and fire, simultaneously enduring the pull of silent Annihilation and the comfort of gentle moonlight. The pressure surged.
At this delicate and tense moment, a third Power intervened without warning.
A ray of golden light—warm, vibrant, and seemingly infused with endless Life Energy and the resolve of dawn—pierced through the intertwined Domain of Darkness and moonlight like a sharp sword.
It wasn’t violent, yet it carried an unstoppable, uplifting momentum that instantly dispelled a portion of the suffocating pressure.
"Aha! Looks like I’ve arrived just in time for an interesting... family discussion?"
A vibrant, clear male voice rang out, tinged with a hint of jest, yet it strangely eased the tense atmosphere.
The golden light converged, forming the image of a handsome young man clad in magnificent robes that seemed woven from the morning glow itself. His golden hair was like a Burning Flame.
His smile was brilliant and his eyes blazed, his entire being radiating a surging aura that inspired Hope and courage.
The Lord of Dawn, Lodestar.
"Shire, Suren."
Lodestar smiled and nodded to the two goddesses, his posture casual yet possessing the dignity of Deities.
"It seems you two ladies’ ’little’ interest has caused our mortal friend here quite a bit of trouble. He has more than enough ’invitations’ on his soul already, wouldn’t you say?"
Shire fell silent for a moment. The Darkness surrounding her contracted slightly, as if she were temporarily retracting her fangs.
The moonlight radiating from Suren also softened.
"Lodestar, you are always so... keen on playing the role of mediator."
Shire’s voice betrayed no emotion.
"It’s always better than letting a beneficial encounter turn into another unpleasant memory that needs to be forgotten, right?"
Lodestar’s smile didn’t waver as he turned to Roland.
"Traveler, your soul needs rest, not to continue bearing the direct will of Deities. Today’s ’visit’ ends here."
He raised his hand, and the warm golden light suddenly intensified.
It wasn’t an attack, but a gentle yet firm "pushing" force. It mixed with Suren’s subtly strengthening, protective moonlight, forming a brief balance and barrier against Shire’s Darkness, which had ceased its expansion.
Roland felt the three distinct, yet all immeasurably vast, Divine Attributes enveloping him give a gentle "push." In an instant, the Darkness, moonlight, and golden light before him receded like a tide.
A violent sense of being pulled away washed over him...
The next second, sight, hearing, touch...
All his senses came rushing back.
He was still sitting on the floor in front of the workbench in the Silver Star Potion Shop. The light from the flannel array beneath him had completely died out, the powders scattered.
Vanessa was kneeling a short distance in front of him, her face pale with worry.
The long ordeal of communing with the consciousness of three Deities had, in the real world, apparently lasted only an instant.
"Mr. Rudolph!"
Seeing his body suddenly tremble and his eyes regain focus, Vanessa quickly and anxiously asked.
"A-Are you all right? The moment the ritual ended, your aura suddenly became very strange..."
Before Roland could reply, a burly figure had already eagerly pushed his way in front of him.
Holland’s eyes were wide, his face a mixture of disbelief and the excitement of discovering a kindred spirit.
He leaned in close, nearly pressing his face against Roland’s, his nostrils flaring as if he were sniffing something invisible.
"Buddy! You... When did you become a Priest, too? No... that’s not it... this feeling..."
He lurched back half a step, rubbed his eyes hard, then leaned in again to scrutinize Roland, his voice low and filled with shock.
"I just clearly felt... that old bastard Lodestar’s... uh, I mean, the Lord of Dawn’s presence on you! It was brief, but that toasty, makes-you-want-to-sneeze smell of sunshine... there’s no way I’d mistake it!"
He scratched his messy hair, even more confused.
"B-But that’s not right! That old bastard is notoriously possessive about faith. There’s no way he’d tolerate one of his followers being tainted with other..."
Before he could finish, Roland suddenly felt a familiar, gentle, yet undeniably powerful warm golden current sweep past him. It unerringly "tapped" Holland, who was still rambling on, trying to analyze the theological paradox.
Holland’s body went rigid, as if he’d been lightly struck by an invisible bolt of lightning.
The next second, all the confusion, surprise, and scrutiny on his face froze, then were swiftly replaced by a vacant look.
His eyes went blank, but the corners of his mouth uncontrollably stretched upward into an overly brilliant, almost foolish-looking grin.
Then, inside the quiet Potion shop where the soul ritual had just concluded, Holland—the burly, habitually fierce-looking former Priest—suddenly rose onto his tiptoes. With a light, almost comical grace that completely betrayed his physique, he began to spin clumsily in circles.
He spread his arms as if to embrace an unseen sun, and a tuneless, yet exceptionally cheerful and loud song spilled from his throat.
"~Morning light, shining all around~"
"~Dispel the Darkness, let joy abound~"
"~La la la~ Hey!"
He belted out the simple-worded, appallingly childish hymn in a grating voice, flailing his arms and legs as he attempted to perform some sort of dance, presumably dedicated to the God of Dawn.
The result, however, was more like a drunken bear trying to imitate a butterfly. His steps were staggered and his arms waved without any pattern, nearly crashing into the wooden shelves several times and causing the jars and bottles on them to rattle.
Ellis gaped in astonishment.
Allen’s jaw dropped, his blue eyes filled with bewilderment.
As for Vanessa, she subconsciously covered her mouth, her violet eyes wide, completely unable to comprehend what was happening.
Only Roland, after a brief moment of stunned disbelief, understood immediately. He watched Holland’s "energetic" yet incredibly awkward performance, sensing the lingering trace of a Divine Attribute in the air—warm, teasing, and smug with the success of a prank.
This was Lodestar’s "response."
A small "chastisement" for Holland’s use of the term "old bastard," one that was characteristically in the Lord of Dawn’s style—not at all serious, yet memorable enough.
Watching Holland still lost in that involuntary, almost tragically cheerful song and dance, the corner of Roland’s mouth couldn’t help but twitch.
It seemed that even toward a former follower, the Lord of Dawn retained a considerable amount of...
"attention."
As well as a unique sense of humor.
