Chapter 540: Chapter 489: Beneath the Firmament, the Godfall Battle
’It became the sole motivation driving this tormented body to keep swinging his sword.’
’Back down?’
’That would mean bowing to this "Order" that treated everything as manipulable data. It would mean admitting that his companions’ "deaths" could be so casually "undone" and "exploited."’
A low growl, a mix of a Dragon Roar and raw fury, rumbled in his throat. He ignored the warnings of collapse coming from every part of his body, suppressed the searing pain of his consciousness being burned away, and forcefully stabilized the border of his humanity as it was being eroded by his draconic nature.
The blood-red shadow moved again.
With a resolve fiercer than ever before, he charged into Yemiga’s endless Space-Time Storm.
The clash between the blood-red shadow and the silver gleam was no longer a simple exchange of techniques, but a savage collision and tearing of two completely different "Laws."
Wherever the sword light passed, it wasn’t a simple slash. It was more like using the purest Power to violently dismantle the Space-Time structure Yemiga had built.
Yemiga, on the other hand, was like one of the Gods pulling invisible strings. With a flick of his fingers, Space-Time twisted, folded, accelerated, slowed, and underwent Stripping at his will...
One inconceivable technique followed another, weaving a death trap with no escape.
He was no longer trying to kill Roland in a single blow. Instead, with a continuous and utterly precise offensive, he sought to wear down, slow, and analyze Roland’s dangerous torrent of Power.
BOOM! SHHHRK! CLANG!
The roar of Energy, the shriek of space being torn apart, the explosive sound of Laws clashing...
All kinds of sounds mixed into a symphony of Destruction, echoing madly within the now-unrecognizable Morning Star Archive.
This place was no longer a Holy Hall of knowledge, but a crucible of Destruction where Gods and mortals fought to the death.
Centered on the two combatants, a spherical "Domain of Destruction" was constantly expanding.
Within the Domain, nothing remained intact.
The floor had been sheared down by several feet, and the exposed foundation stones beneath were riddled with cracks and signs of corrosion.
Most of the load-bearing pillars had collapsed. The few that remained were on the verge of giving way, covered in deep gouges carved by the turbulent Energy.
The walls?
They had long since ceased to exist, turning into pervasive dust and massive, gaping holes along with the several libraries and rest areas behind them.
The once-exquisite crystal and star chart decorations on the ceiling had long been pulverized into the finest shimmering powder. It mixed with the chaotic Energy Storm, resembling an inverted river of stars.
The aftershocks of every exchange were like invisible hammers of Destruction, smashing viciously into the ancient building’s remains and forcing a wail from it as it neared complete disintegration.
Rubble rained down, only to be swept up and pulverized by an even stronger torrent of turbulent Energy.
The entire structure of the Morning Star Archive was on the brink of collapse.
In the instant of another ferocious collision, when the bloody light and silver gleam crashed into each other like two comets...
CRACK... RUMBLE!
Having accumulated too much damage, the main structure of the ceiling finally gave way. After a series of grating, cracking sounds, it collapsed and disintegrated with a deafening roar.
Massive chunks of stone and metal, mixed with the lingering glow of Energy, rained down on the battlefield below as if the sky itself were falling.
However, to the two combatants, this was nothing more than insignificant background noise.
Silver light flowed around Yemiga. Any falling Giant Stone that came within a few feet of him would bizarrely deflect, slide away, or even silently turn to fine dust, as if it had fallen into another dimension.
His dark yellow, vertical pupils locked onto the figure in the blood mist, calculating the optimal path and Space-Time parameters for his next attack.
Roland was even more feral. He didn’t even spare a glance for the falling debris.
His Dragonified body and the instincts granted by [Mad Soul] allowed him to weave and dodge between the gaps in the Giant Stones as if he could see the future. When an unavoidable chunk of debris came at him, he would simply swing his sword.
The blood-red sword light flashed, and the hard stone and metal were easily cut apart and sent flying like butter under a hot knife.
His movements didn’t slow in the slightest. Instead, he used the recoil from shattering a Giant Stone to launch himself toward Yemiga at an even greater speed.
The ceiling’s collapse didn’t interrupt the battle. It merely tore open a curtain to the sky.
The pale, artificial light of Silver Radiance City’s sky poured through the massive opening, flooding the hall of Destruction. It intertwined with the chaotic glow of Energy within, creating a bizarre and phantasmagorical scene.
Yemiga glanced at the hole above. No longer staying in place, his body drifted lightly upward with a flow of silver light. He passed through the collapsed opening in the ceiling and came to a stop above the Morning Star Archive, hovering in mid-air.
Silvery-white light flowed around him, a stark contrast to the dust and Chaos of the ruins below. He looked like one of the Deities who had descended to the mortal realm to survey the Destruction.
Roland didn’t hesitate for a second.
He let out a battle cry mixed with a Dragon Roar and stomped his feet hard on the ground, leaving behind a deep, cratered depression.
His entire body shot upward like a blood-red Arrow fired in reverse. He broke through the pervasive dust and scattered debris, hot on Yemiga’s heels, and charged fearlessly into the sky of Silver Radiance City’s Upper City District, a sky frozen by the time loop.
The battlefield shifted from the verge-of-Destruction ground to the false sky that enveloped the city.
Before the rubble and dust had even settled, Avril, Duraga, Galvis, and Bronson rushed out from behind their cover, staring up at the terrifying scene above.
Beneath the vault of the sky, Yemiga hovered, silver light flowing around him like a cold, celestial phenomenon.
And across from him...
"Roland’s... back..."
Galvis’s voice trembled with disbelief.
