Knight: from Apprentice to the Almighty
Chapter 528 - 486: Thunderbolt, Lunar Radiance, and a Hole in the Divine Body
Chapter 528: Chapter 486: Thunderbolt, Lunar Radiance, and a Hole in the Divine Body
The moment the spatial shackles shattered, fresh air and freedom of movement poured back into them, but it also brought with it an even colder reality.
Battle was inevitable.
Roland didn’t hesitate for a second.
He unfastened the leather pouch at his waist in a flash, tossing it backward without looking. It landed precisely in the arms of Mr. Bronson, who had just regained his footing, his face still pale.
"Get back, Mr. Bronson!"
Roland’s voice was short, clear, and left no room for doubt.
Simultaneously, the bracelet on his wrist responded.
In an instant, streamlined Armor had already enveloped his body. As the Weaver’s Heart spun rapidly, a vast surge of Power flooded into him.
SHING!
Roland drew Bright Moon from his waist with a reverse grip. His gaze swept over his companions as they quickly assumed their battle stances, and he began issuing commands at a rapid-fire pace, each word striking like the beat of a war drum.
"Duraga! Tank the front, draw his attention! Your Divine Attribute has a slight resistance to his ’Rules.’ Don’t go head-to-head—focus on tying him down!"
"Avril, roam and snipe! Look for ’gaps’ in his defense. Use your Arrows to create openings for Duraga!"
"Galvis, don’t stop singing! Cycle through ’Acceleration,’ ’Toughness,’ and ’Demon Breaker.’ Disrupt his Perception and combat rhythm!"
The moment the words left his mouth, the battle erupted!
"For the glory of Durag!"
Duraga unleashed a furious war cry, pent up from being suppressed.
He didn’t rise. Instead, from his half-kneeling position, he channeled all his Power and the dark red glow of Divine Attribute—now reigniting on his Iron Gloves—into his legs. Like a spring compressed to its absolute limit, he exploded off the ground with a BOOM.
He became a roaring metal chariot, imbued with the force to shatter mountains and split stone, swinging his glinting War Axe in a wild slash at Yemiga’s waist.
The attack was without finesse—a pure, raw release of Power and rage, meant to tear open a breach for his companions.
But Yemiga didn’t even move.
He merely lowered his head slightly to look at the charging Gray Dwarf, a stream of data flashing through his dark yellow, slitted pupils.
"Slow."
No Spell, no gesture.
Duraga’s furious charge suddenly seemed to bog down as if he’d been plunged into a mire with ten times normal gravity. His speed plummeted, the change visible to the naked eye.
His once-thunderous Charge slowed to a crawl, a replay in slow motion. Even the arc of his War Axe became clearly visible, yet it moved as if he were dragging a mountain.
"Avril, now!"
Roland shouted, but he was the first to act.
He didn’t rush Yemiga. Instead, with a shift in his footwork, the faint glow of the [Time Trace Weaver’s Engraving Blade] lit up again on the fingertips of his left hand.
It wasn’t an attack. Instead, as if plucking the strings of an instrument, his fingers quickly brushed across several of the more slender "threads" in his vision—the ones connecting Yemiga to the surrounding space.
He was attempting to interfere with Yemiga’s precise control over the area’s "density" and "time flow," even if he could only create a momentary disruption.
Almost at the same instant Roland acted, Avril moved.
The Elf Ranger’s figure was like a wisp of smoke melting into the light. With an Agility that defied logic, she slid sideways, instantly moving out of Yemiga’s likely line of sight.
Before she had even fully steadied herself, her Bowstring was already drawn mid-stride, a verdant green Arrow nocked upon it.
It wasn’t a physical Arrow, but one condensed purely from Natural Magic Power and the Wind Element.
Relying on an Elf’s keen Perception of Energy flow, she aimed for a "point" behind Yemiga that seemed empty, but was in fact a spot where the Energy currents were subtly distorted.
Yemiga’s brow twitched almost imperceptibly.
Avril’s choice of target was outside his calculations for "conventional attack patterns."
He had to divert a sliver of his "attention" to deal with the Arrow that sought to destabilize an Energy node.
In that infinitesimal moment of distraction...
"In the name of swift winds and solid rock, let our steps be faster than thought, let our will be as firm as steel!"
Galvis’s chant rang out, its short, powerful syllables, filled with the rhythm of a battle cry, resonating across the field.
The Lute in his arms produced a stirring tremolo. Invisible sound waves spread like ripples, precisely enveloping Duraga, Avril, and Roland.
Duraga felt his body lighten. The invisible pressure seemed partially offset by the sound waves, and his axe regained some of its swift momentum.
Avril’s movements became even more erratic and unpredictable.
The flow of faint light around Roland’s fingertips also seemed a fraction smoother.
And Galvis’s song didn’t stop. The tone shifted, taking on a sharp, discordant quality that lanced straight in Yemiga’s direction.
This was a variation of the [Curse-Breaking Song], designed specifically to disrupt a Caster’s concentration and Energy channeling.
Faced with this perfectly coordinated, multi-pronged assault, Yemiga finally moved.
But he still didn’t dodge. He simply raised his right hand gracefully, fingers spread, and pressed lightly into the empty air before him.
"Freeze Frame."
With his palm as the epicenter, the flow of time in a fan-shaped area before him abruptly dropped to zero.
In that instant, everything within the area came to a standstill, like a silent puppet show.
Only Roland.
It seemed the interference from his left hand brushing the "threads" had worked. An extremely subtle instability flickered in Yemiga’s temporal control over the area.
While it wasn’t enough to completely negate the "Freeze Frame" effect, Roland was affected far less than his companions.
A sharp glint flashed in his eyes as he seized the fleeting opportunity.
The cold light on the blade of Bright Moon suddenly receded. It didn’t disappear but was instead compressed entirely into the very tip of the sword, coalescing into a single point of cold starlight that seemed sharp enough to pierce the soul.
