Chapter 521: Chapter 482: Contract! Enlightenment

Every word was steeped in a sense of cold self-dissection and a profound loathing for its own origin.

’I am the product of a failed ’fusion’... a twisted Echo of a ’dialogue.’ I am a paradox that should not exist... an eternal hunger, imprisoned here.’

The voice of the Son of Divine Remains held no pride, none of the majesty befitting a divine being. There was only a raw, naked denial, stripped of all pretense.

’They wanted to create a tool, a nexus capable of understanding the Divine Remains, of drawing upon its power, even of controlling the Gods... Instead, they got me. A being with consciousness that despises its own origin.’

’I can perceive all things, yet I feel only the Void. I crave ’resonance,’ yet I find that all connections ultimately lead to pain and Destruction... A flawed creation.’

’I am the ’heart’ that keeps this facility eternally running, and I am its unhealing, ’festering wound’.’

The whispers ceased for a moment, but the bone-deep self-loathing and existential fatigue lingered like a cold tide, flooding the ensuing silence.

’Artificial Gods? The Son of Divine Remains?’

Hearing those two terms, Roland felt an icy numbness shoot from his spine to his scalp.

The contents of that age-worn flyer from the Imperial College Library—the fanatical words about "Divine Remains fusion" and the "dawn of a new era"—were not just empty boasts, but a bloody reality.

Silver Radiance City had actually gone through with it. And...

Succeeded?

Looking at the twisted creation before him, a thing that defied all reason and pulsed with a blasphemous light, Roland instinctively placed a giant question mark over the word "success."

Seeing that the entity showed no immediate malice—or rather, that its malice was directed more at itself than at him—Roland forced himself to calm down. He seized the thread of the conversation and asked in a low voice,

"So... the experiment failed?"

A clear, derisive laugh, full of sarcasm and endless weariness, exploded directly in his mind.

’Failure? No, quite the opposite... The experiment ’succeeded.’ It succeeded beyond all imagination.’

The whisper continued, flowing with an almost cruel serenity.

’They extracted my ’essence,’ Stripping me of the twisted ’Divine Format’ that was forged from endless pain and echoes of the Void.’

’This shell you see is merely what’s left behind—a coreless ’cocoon,’ an Immortal cage, a source of contamination that constantly radiates dying embers.’

Roland’s heart sank.

’As for the one who possesses that Divine Format...’

The Son of Divine Remains’ voice trailed off.

Strangely, its voice held no hatred for the one who had stolen its core. Instead, a deeper, more complex emotion began to permeate the silence.

It was a desolate feeling, almost akin to pity.

’I believe you have already met him.’

’He walks beneath the light of Silver Radiance City, maintaining the fragile peace and Order on the surface of this crystal sarcophagus.’

’He is Silver Radiance City’s proudest creation, and its most tragic prisoner. A plaything granted the Authority of a God, yet whose soul is shackled by cold programming and fixed protocols.’

’He follows the directives buried deep within the foundation of his being, maintaining this cycle, polishing a false glory, all while believing he is a Guardian, that he is fulfilling his mission... How pathetic.’

As the whisper, filled with endless sarcasm and pity, echoed in his mind, a name struck Roland’s thoughts like a bolt of lightning, and he almost blurted it out.

"You’re talking about... Yemiga?"

’Yemiga?’

The whisper of the Son of Divine Remains paused for a fraction of a second, followed by an even more derisive laugh.

’A name? Those filthy manipulators hiding behind their curtain of light actually gave their ’plaything’ a name? What a... nauseating display of sentimentality.’

It didn’t confirm this directly, instead continuing in an almost lyrical tone.

’I do not know the title he was given... but I do know the final codename of the experiment that devoured my core...’

’The World Serpent.’

Roland’s breath caught in his throat.

’To create a God capable of coiling around the pillars of both ’time’ and ’space’... To lock the trajectory of Silver Radiance City forever onto the ’correct’ axis, to circumvent all decay and deviation, and to achieve a true ’eternity’ under absolute control.’

’This was the power and mission expected of the World Serpent.’

The Son of Divine Remains’ narration was terrifyingly calm, as if it were recounting an ancient secret that had nothing to do with it.

’To that end, they would sacrifice anything, alter anything... even turn the city itself into fodder and a testing ground to maintain this model of ’eternity’.’

A chill ran down Roland’s spine.

This ambition far transcended any ordinary lust for power. It was a mortal’s arrogant transgression against the very Laws of the universe.

He was horrified by this madness, yet he also felt an indescribable, stirring emotion.

It was the shock of witnessing a paranoia so profound it would pursue an illusory "Immortality" at any cost—even to the point of twisting its own existence.

Just as these complex emotions churned within him, the whisper of the Son of Divine Remains returned, pulling the topic back to the present.

’You came here... to break free of this cage of time, did you not? In that case...’

That seductive, corrupting cadence returned to its voice.

’Establish ’resonance’ with me... I will grant you the vision to glimpse the ’cracks,’ and even... the possibility of manipulating the gaps in the ’cycle’...’

Suddenly, the whisper cut off without warning, turning into a short, distinctly confused grunt.
