Knight: from Apprentice to the Almighty
Chapter 429 - 412: Advent of the Gods
Chapter 429: Chapter 412: Advent of the Gods
Roland remained utterly unmoved by Tula’s tempting yet condescending offer. He even scoffed at the "grand blueprint" Tula described.
The Shadow of a Giant Dragon streaking across the sky, the ancient Demon City reawakening deep beneath the earth, and the Demons appearing from the Otherworld planes...
These personal experiences had long since revealed to him that the world’s hidden undercurrents were far more complex and profound than Tula’s so-called "reshaping of the wasteland."
Tula’s words were merely the ramblings of a deluded fool with a narrow worldview.
What’s more, the man before him was the very culprit who had persecuted Galvis.
For reasons both emotional and logical, compromise was impossible.
"Journey to the Void together?"
Roland’s brow twitched, and a clear, derisive laugh escaped from between his clenched teeth.
The fragmented Authority of the Deities that Tula wielded was indeed difficult to handle. It contained a suppressive Power of Rules that mortal Power could never hope to match.
But Roland also keenly sensed that this Power was mottled and impure.
Like a magnificent robe covered in patches, it was incomplete on the inside, let alone seamless and perfect.
Besides, Tula had his stolen trump cards, but did Roland not have his own ace in the hole?
The thought flashed through his mind like lightning. After once again dodging the grasp of a twisting Shadow by a hair’s breadth, Roland abruptly raised his head.
His once-deep eyes had now completely transformed into cold, vertical pupils of molten gold.
Like molten gold, they brimmed with the ancient and majestic aura of a predator.
"ROAR!"
A low, deep roar that seemed capable of shaking one’s very soul erupted from the depths of his throat.
In an instant, the blood in his veins began to boil with unprecedented ferocity, as if it had been set ablaze.
The searing Power was no longer a stream but had become a surging torrent of Magma, sweeping through his entire body in a flash.
[Dragonification], initiated!
Unlike any time before, supported by the near-infinite Primordial Energy of the [Primordial Core], this Dragonification was no longer a partial transformation.
Dense, hard Dragon Scales no longer just covered his arms or cheeks. Instead, they rapidly multiplied and spread from beneath his skin as if alive, instantly covering his entire torso. Only small gaps remained at his joints to allow for movement.
These Dragon Scales were a deep, dark gold, with a luster like flowing Magma. They emanated a heart-stoppingly oppressive aura.
Although his physical size did not expand or mutate, the lines of his muscles became more pronounced and explosive, as if every fiber contained the Power to tear a Giant Dragon to shreds.
Sharp, savage bone spurs sprouted from his elbows, knees, and other joints, glinting with a cold light.
Compared to his previous partial Dragonifications, this time, under the enhancement of the [Primordial Core], his [Dragonification] was nearly complete. It was no longer a Borrowed Power; it was as if he had truly awakened and briefly harnessed the ancient, mighty force from the very source of his bloodline.
A domineering pressure, far purer and more potent than before, erupted from him as the epicenter, instantly diluting the oppressive feeling from Tula’s mixed Divine Power.
Noticing the astonishing change in Roland, a fleeting hint of surprise flashed through Tula’s eyes.
But it was immediately replaced by disdain and mockery.
"Dragonification?"
He sneered, his voice dripping with condescension.
"How interesting. To see such a degree of bloodline manifestation in a mere mortal... A pity. It’s merely an imitation of the form!"
He spread his arms, and the glow of the Chaotic Divine Power circulating around him intensified once more.
"Even a true Ancient Giant Dragon was nothing more than a pet toyed with in the hands of the Gods in the first age—a mere creation with a bit of Power, made by a will far greater!"
"Let alone a... mongrel product of an impure bloodline like you? You pathetic mimic, you dare act so presumptuously before the Authority of a God!"
Before his words had even faded, Tula launched a new attack.
"Lebilas Nelifien! Shroud this beast in the silence of death!"
In an instant, an invisible, soul-chilling coldness spread out from Tula.
The air around Roland seemed to be sucked away in a moment, replaced by a desolate power that signaled the end of all things.
The green vegetation at his feet withered and turned to ash before his very eyes. Even the stones seemed to lose the color of "life," growing dull and lightless.
This power was formless and intangible, yet it acted directly on the essence of life, attempting to strip Roland of his vitality.
It cast a layer of ashen gray over his Dragon Scales.
Immediately after, Tula gestured with his finger, pointing to the sky.
"Dideri! With your ingenuity that forges all things, imprison him!"
As his voice fell, countless Magic Chains, glinting with a cold, metallic light, instantly materialized in the air.
These Chains were not made of physical metal, yet they were tougher than refined gold. Runes of sealing and imprisonment flowed across their surfaces.
Like living serpents, they coiled toward Roland from all directions.
Not only were they astonishingly fast, but they also carried a Power of Rules, a "perfect construction," which suggested that once locked onto a target, it was impossible to break free with brute force.
Two completely different, fragmented Divine Powers—one eroding life, the other imprisoning freedom—coordinated with each other. They formed a fatal pincer, closing in on the newly dragonified Roland.
But as swift and peerless as the attacks were, they still had to cross space, creating an infinitesimal gap in time.
In that hair-raising instant, Roland moved.
"BOOM!"
It wasn’t a deafening explosion, but more like the deep, muffled thunder of a sonic boom.
The ground where he had been standing abruptly caved in and cracked, while his dragonified figure had completely vanished from the spot.
