Chapter 263 - Great Responsibilities
Country B was still in an uproar the following day. The details about the coronation day ceremony and the occurrences afterward filled all newspapers headlines and news reports on television and online.
Gavin became the most controversial king in the world overnight because of what he did as soon as his coronation day ceremony ended. Gavin earned tremendous sympathy from the people as they learned how Gavin grew up with the man responsible for the tragedy that transpired in Lucas's family years ago.
Many showed their great respect and admiration for how strong Gavin handled the situation in all aspects. He showed how potential he was to be a great ruler…
That morning, the family had breakfast together with Brione's guests.
"I am sorry that I won't be able to accompany you guys," Brione apologized over breakfast. Like Gavin, Brione had a packed schedule as the new Queen of the country.
"It's okay, Boss. We all understand. I will surely enjoy my stay with a good tour guide…" Berry meaningfully commented, making Brione chuckled.
She looked both at Mitch and Berry as she said, "Alright, I already asked the men you requested as your tour guide, so I hope you enjoy your vacation here for a few days before going back to work and taking good care of our company."
She then looked at Noah and Luo and said, "I won't be able to accompany you to the airport later. But we will make it up to you guys. Gavin and I will sort out our schedule for a family get-together soon."
Noah nodded and said, "take your time. It's not like we won't be able to see each other soon. Ah, we wish to stay longer, but Calvin is calling us non-stop. We will come back here to visit again, and this time with Calvin. I need to settle things first about the company."
Gavin looked at his father, who was quiet throughout breakfast. When everyone had already left, Gavin approached his father and asked, "Do you want to talk to him?"
He referred to Duncan, who was securely imprisoned at the detention center in the Capital City while waiting for his verdict. There won't be any delay. Olivia wanted the trial to commence and finish this day itself, and he could understand why Olivia wanted to end things as soon as possible.
Lucas heaved a long deep sigh…
"I don't know, son. I am trying my best to calm down and not see him hit him till he is dead. The only thing that is keeping me not to hurt him is because of you. Seeing how you grew up well under him overrides all the anger and angst I'm feeling for that man. Right now, I am just really grateful that he didn't hurt you or make your life miserable. I am glad and thankful that he treated you well and gave you the love of a father I'm unable to do…" Lucas said.
"He probably saw Cecilia in you. You and Cedric look so much like your mother. I just hope Cecilia is now at peace wherever she is now. Ah, I also hope Cedric will return to us soon, son," Lucas added with a cracked voice as tears started rolling down his cheeks. He thought he cried enough last night in his room, but he couldn't stop the tears from falling again.
Gavin pulled his father for a comforting embrace as he whispered, "Cedric is safe and sound. He will return soo father. Trust me."
Raine informed him yesterday that she and her team would retrieve Cedric today. She promised to deliver Cedric in one piece, and Raine never broke a promise. She was capable of doing anything because she was unique… above ordinary humans.
Brione came back to the dining area after walking Noah and Luo to their room and saw that heartwarming scene.
She sighed, hoping things would finally be over. She hoped her father-in-law could relax more now and enjoy his remaining years being a father and a grandfather soon.
She was not in a hurry. However, she was anticipating being a mother soon. She was too excited to experience what they often say is the essence of being a woman! She unconsciously touched her belly as she silently prayed for a fruitful outcome of her lovemaking with Gavin during her fertile days.
Gavin saw her, and she smiled and approached the two.
"Zach is looking for you. I think he and his team finished everything up," Brione informed.
"Right. Zach would leave some of his best men, in any case. I think our military needs innovative training…" Gavin replied as he gently pushed his father.
Lucas was so proud of his son. It was evident in his eyes. He did not care whether people compared his ruling over Gavin because he knew they were different. Gavin was edgier and had excellent tactics on everything.
He wondered how things would go if it were Cedric, on the other hand… He shook his head. Like Gavin, Cedric had potential. He saw that in his son while growing up, but Cedric was the stubborn type who would instead choose a normal life.
He remembered how Cedric would often threaten him whenever he would open about the topic of him transferring to him the throne. Cedric would say that he would be a tyrant king without batting an eye, so he better think twice.
Unlike Gavin, Cedric was aloof. He wanted privacy. He was too strict as well, so he preferred being alone and not surrounded by servants.
Despite Cedric being stoic, Lucas knew how his son had a good heart. For sure, Cedric would be amazed to see that he had a twin who just saved him from a great responsibility that he hated too much.
"You and your brother Cedric… I can't wait for the two of you to be together and for our family to be finally complete," Lucas uttered with a hopeful smile.
"You and Brione should go now. It will be a long day…" Lucas said with a smile.
"How about you, father? What are your plans for today?" Gavin asked.
"I plan to visit your mother's graveyard, son," Lucas replied, and Gavin nodded.
