Chapter 194 - The Ones Suffering
At Country B
Olivia's father came back home to pick her up with her mother. All of them went to the funeral home to see Oliver's body for the last time. There was no one except for close friends and family of the Philips.
The wake was very private since Greg did not want the media to flock over his son's death and he did not want people to talk around them so they invented an alibi like an accident in one of the extreme sports Oliver was doing and announced it as the cause of Oliver's death.
Olivia's eyes were so swollen that she had to wear shades to hide them. She called Paula, Oliver's fiance to inform her what happened. Paula rushed to the funeral home and Olivia stayed with her.
She was patting Paula's back because she was crying hard.
"How did this happen? The last time we're together was when we were talking about our wedding Olivia… Why? Why did he leave like this? It's too sudden!" Paula cried.
Olivia's eyes once again welled up with tears. "I know. We all still can't accept what happened, Pau. My brother loves you so much and I'm sure he too was not ready to leave us like this but what can we do…? We can only accept that he is gone now and hope that he is in a better place wherever he is right now."
Olivia's heart was torn apart as she said those words. Acceptance… Such an easy word but hard to do. She was saying those words and yet deep inside her, she could not accept her brother's passing like that. Justice! She was screaming for justice.
But it would take time for her to get her vengeance. Right now, she had to hold hands with her enemy to get vengeance on all that was responsible for what happened to her brother.
Aside from them, she included herself as one of the responsible. She was ready to punish herself…
Paula finally recovered and sniffed. She looked at Olivia and whispered, "I am pregnant Olivia. I was planning to tell it to Oliver in our engagement ceremony as a surprise but…"
"Oh my God…" Olivia gasped and once again hugged Paula tightly.
"It's a blessing, Paula. Do not worry about the child. It's Oliver's baby. We will help you through it. We will take care of you, Paula. Oh God… our little Oliver…" Olivia murmured, crying. She was very glad to hear that news. Oliver's baby… he's blood… their blood.
They looked at Oliver's peaceful face one last time before his body was sent to be cremated. He had a gun wound at the side of his head that caused his death. One gunshot. If there was only one consolation then it was that they did not make Oliver suffer and just gave him that instant death.
Her eyes went to the door and she saw Gavin enter with Brione.
"Paula, I will just greet some guests. I will be back," Olivia stated with a serious expression as she stood from her seat. She saw how dark her father's face was as he was about to walk in Gavin's direction. No one from her family was aware that the man was Prince Gavin and not Prince Cedric.
She immediately grabbed her father's arm, stopping him from his track as she whispered, "let me handle this dad. There are people so please don't make a commotion here. I will handle them," Olivia uttered.
"I don't want to see any of their faces, Olivia. Make sure that no one from the royal family will ever show up! Make it clear to them that they are all unwelcome!" Greg snarled. He knew that his son died because the royal family intervened with the matter. Duncan clearly told him that.
Oliver was his only son and he loved him dearly. He would not forgive Lucas for what happened to his son! How dare they meddle with this sensitive affair when they were not confident with the pros and cons! As he expected, Lucas was a very weak leader who could not even protect his family!
It was now time for the royal family to step down from their positions in the government! They were all incompetent!
"I will, father. I will make sure no one from the royal family will show their faces to us again," Olivia said with a clenched jaw.
She released her father's arm and walked in Gavin and Brione's direction.
"Olivia," Brione whispered. She hugged Olivia that instant and whispered, "I am sorry for your loss. Please know that Gavin and I will be here for you…"
Brione felt Olivia gently pushing her as she whispered, "Brione, thank you for coming but," Olivia's eyes went to Gavin as she continued, "My family and I will appreciate it if none of the royal family will come to see any of us. I know I'm being rude but I do hope you understand the situation. We lost a family member that we love so dearly."
"I have so many regrets because of what happened. If only I have kept this thing from the royal family and let dad handle the situation then Oliver could still be here with us. What happened already happened and I can no longer turn back the time. I know I'm the most at fault here but still, I thought the royal family could do something because you already have all the means and power."
"I don't understand how things ended wrong, with my brother dying, but all I knew is that the royal family failed me of what you all promised. So please give us some space and leave now. We don't want your sympathy and we don't need your apology. Oliver died and that won't bring him back…"
Gavin could feel the hatred from Olivia's words. She was filled with anger and he did understand where she was coming from.
"I'm sorry Olivia. I'm sorry that we failed… But I do hope that you won't totally shut us down. We will give you the space you wanted. We are just worried about you and we hope that you can find comfort despite what happened. We did everything that we could. Will did his best… But that Duncan is really evil. He is someone you can't trust." Gavin warned.
Olivia had a smirk on her face as she mockingly uttered, "I guess the royal family do not have enough power in their hands. But anyway, you all should not worry about me… Because I know what I should do. I will cut ties with the royal family because we are the victims here, merely because of our family's involvement with the royal family. It was not us but they were targeting your family from the start and yet here we are… We… are the ones suffering."
Please leave now and do not show your face to us again…" Olivia said with a heavy tone before she turned around to go back to Paula.
