King of Ten Thousand Years

Chapter 614: Still Need Me to Save the Day

  • Next Chapter

Luo Tian led his nine students away from the main group, quietly venturing deep into the Qiyun Mountain Range.

Watching Luo Tian depart, Liu Lu’s smile grew wider.

The plan was to coordinate an attack from both the inside and out.

By then, Luo Tian and his group would be trapped in a perilous situation. For every moment the reinforcements were delayed, their danger would increase.

Liu Lu could guarantee, on his conscience, that the reinforcements would be significantly delayed.

Hu Chao looked worried but said nothing. This was a personal grudge between Luo Tian and Liu Lu, and he was unwilling to get involved.

The middle-aged mentor didn’t say anything either.

They were all new Junior Tutors. Only Liu Lu was a veteran elite mentor, set to be promoted to Middle Level Tutor after the next assessment.

As long as their own interests weren’t at stake, how could any of the new Junior Tutors dare to oppose Liu Lu?

…

“Master, this isn’t a one-way trip, is it?”

Chen Yuan asked worriedly.

The other four new students were panicked and regretful. If they had known this would happen, they might not have chosen Luo Tian as their master.

But since things had already come to this, the students could only place their hope in Luo Tian.

“You all wait here.”

Luo Tian suddenly spoke. The moment he finished, his figure flickered away, vanishing without a trace.

The students didn’t even have time to ask any questions, and they dared not make a sound, so they could only wait where they were.

SWOOSH! SWOOSH!

Luo Tian darted through the shadows of the dense forest, his movements traceless.

As someone who practiced the Moon Shadow Escape Heaven, infiltration was second nature to him.

Soon, Luo Tian spotted two massive Void Ships. Both flew the flag of the Black Eagle Thief King Gang.

The Black Eagle Thief King Gang was powerful overall, but these were just two fleets from the gang. According to intel, there were no High Tier Celestial Pool Realm experts among them.

With a little effort, Luo Tian infiltrated one of the large Void Ships.

Deep within the Void Ship, inside a luxurious palace, two maidservants walked out and closed the large doors behind them.

“The Captain seems to be in a very bad mood.”

“Of course she is. Her talks with the other captain from the Black Eagle Thief King Gang didn’t go well.”

The two maidservants whispered to each other.

After they left, a black shadow sped past, arriving outside the palace they had just exited.

If Chen Yuan and the others knew what Luo Tian did next, they would have been scared out of their wits!

BANG!

Luo Tian kicked the door open and charged inside.

“Who’s there?”

A cold, authoritative voice rang out, accompanied by a terrifying Celestial Level pressure that filled the entire palace!

The captain, dressed in red, spun around but saw no intruder.

Turning back again, she saw a young man in a white robe sitting leisurely at a nearby table, pouring himself a cup of tea.

“Long time no see.”

Luo Tian took a sip and looked at the red-clothed captain with a smile.

「A few days ago.」

When Liu Lu had told him to gather intel, Luo Tian had used his Inference Skill to deduce a few clues.

With those initial clues, he then used the Celestial Book for a more detailed inference, which required less energy and yielded more specific information.

He had only told Liu Lu a fraction of what he had discovered.

Even back then, Luo Tian knew that among their targets was an acquaintance!

It was none other than the former Ninth Master of the Undead Thieves from the Broken Ring, Lü Hongyi!

Lü Hongyi was slightly surprised. She sat down opposite Luo Tian, a faint smile on her face.

“It has been a long time. Six or seven years, hasn’t it?”

“Back then, you were a True Disciple of the Tai Yuan Sect with a cultivation at the Peak of Earth Element Realm Seventh Layer. Now, you’re at the Peak of Celestial Pool Realm Second Layer!”

Lü Hongyi’s eyes narrowed slightly, marveling at Luo Tian’s growth. She then asked uncertainly, “And you’ve become a student at the Wuji Saint Institute?”

“You’re quite impressive yourself,” Luo Tian said lightly. “Back then you were a fugitive on the run, but a few years later, you’ve become a captain in the Black Eagle Thief King Gang of the Pale Ring.”

What he said was true.

Lü Hongyi was indeed very capable.

Her current cultivation had reached the Peak of Celestial Pool Realm Fifth Layer, an incredibly fast rate of progress.

This was to be expected.

She was the greatest beneficiary of the Treasure of the Thief King and was far wealthier than Luo Tian.

She had also obtained the Thief King’s legacy and had arrived in the Pale Ring six or seven years before Luo Tian.

With abundant resources, anyone with decent talent would see their cultivation advance by leaps and bounds.

“So, tell me. Why have you come here?”

Lü Hongyi asked.

“What is *your* purpose?”

Luo Tian retorted.

Lü Hongyi had just guessed that Luo Tian was a student of the Wuji Saint Institute.

Considering Luo Tian was in disguise, this proved that Lü Hongyi already knew her enemies would be coming from the Wuji Saint Institute.

“Heh, I deliberately leaked my location, hoping my enemies would help me eliminate a rival,” Lü Hongyi admitted without concealment.

She was extremely ambitious. If she wanted to seize power, she needed to eliminate her enemies.

The other large Void Ship held another fleet from the Black Eagle Thief King Gang. The “Blood Blade Captain” on board was the target she wanted to eliminate.

The overall strength of the Blood Blade Captain’s crew was greater than hers.

“I think we can cooperate again.”

Lü Hongyi said with a seductive smile.

Her schemes ran deep, but she had never calculated that an acquaintance would be among the enemies she had lured.

This made things much easier.

“Cooperation is fine, and my demands are rather simple…”

After exchanging a few more words, Luo Tian departed as silently as he had arrived.

Lü Hongyi’s gaze grew heavy.

She and Luo Tian practiced the same Body Technique.

Moreover, it was a Body Technique created by her ancestor, the Void Thief King, and should have been better suited for the Thief King’s descendants.

But Lü Hongyi discovered that Luo Tian’s mastery of the Moon Shadow Escape Heaven was even greater than hers, even though her cultivation was much higher than his.

Lü Hongyi had always been proud and didn’t believe her talent was much inferior to Luo Tian’s, but at this moment, she was lost in thought.

…

Liu Lu, Hu Chao, and the other mentors, along with their students, waited quietly in place.

WHOOSH! BANG!

Suddenly, a silver beam of light shot into the sky and exploded, forming a pattern of a moon and stars—the symbol of the Wuji Saint Institute!

The four mentors were all stunned.

It was the signal to attack, but how could it be so soon?

‘Infiltration isn’t that simple. Could it be that Luo Tian failed and had no choice but to send the signal?’

“Let’s go.”

Just as Hu Chao was about to move out, Liu Lu stopped him.

“Don’t be so rash. There’s no way Luo Tian’s infiltration could have succeeded this quickly. Be cautious. Don’t rush in too fast, and be ready to retreat at a moment’s notice,” Liu Lu ordered.

His words sounded reasonable.

But none of the mentors present were fools; they knew Liu Lu’s true intentions perfectly well.

WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH…

Liu Lu and the other three mentors, each leading their own students, began to move out. They just moved a bit slower, appearing extremely cautious.

When they saw the two massive Void Ships, they didn’t see any signs of a fight.

And surprisingly, Luo Tian’s students were catching up from behind them.

“Luo Tian’s been captured! He’s over there!”

The female mentor pointed to a Pirate Ship.

Everyone looked over and saw Luo Tian with his hands bound by a set of black chains.

“Kill them!”

Liu Lu sneered and gave the order.

‘The plan worked!’

‘Luo Tian has fallen into the pirates’ hands. He’s sure to end up a heroic sacrifice.’

‘The four of us mentors and all these students are still enough to complete the mission.’

“You’re too slow!”

Luo Tian complained.

“Don’t worry, Master Luo! We’re coming to save you!”

Liu Lu said with false sincerity.

Beside Luo Tian, Lü Hongyi gave him a surprised look.

‘So he’s not a student, but a mentor at the Wuji Saint Institute?’

“You’re still the same as ever, always full of surprises.”

Lü Hongyi said via voice transmission.

SWOOSH!

Lü Hongyi flew out, leading her subordinates to engage Liu Lu’s group in a fierce battle.

On the other large Void Ship, the Blood Blade Captain’s expression was grim!

“Captain, this isn’t some trick of Lü Hongyi’s, is it?”

one of his subordinates speculated.

Previously, Lü Hongyi had claimed to have discovered a treasure in the Hydration Realm and invited the Blood Blade Captain to negotiate, even offering to hand over the treasure.

But when the real negotiations began, everything was different from what they had imagined.

The Blood Blade Captain was also suspicious of Lü Hongyi.

However, seeing Lü Hongyi capture one of the enemy’s Celestial Level Martial Artists and proactively engage them in battle dispelled much of his doubt.

“Kill every last one of them!”

The Blood Blade Captain roared and led his own subordinates into the fray!

PSHH!

Wielding a massive blood-red saber, the Blood Blade Captain unleashed a brilliant, crimson slash of blade light that dyed the sky red.

The team leader, Liu Lu, moved to intercept him.

A continuous torrent of dark cyan sword light surged forward to meet it.

BOOM! PSSSH-BANG!

Both Liu Lu and the Blood Blade Captain were at the Sixth Layer of Celestial Pool Realm, the highest cultivation level on the battlefield!

One was a veteran who had spent his life on a knife’s edge, the other was an elite mentor from the Saint Institute.

The two of them were evenly matched.

The other mentors also engaged the elite pirates in battle.

Lü Hongyi’s opponent was the female mentor.

CRACK!

The Purple Crystal Long Whip in Lü Hongyi’s hand struck like a swimming dragon of purple light, shattering the female mentor’s attack and lashing her across the chest.

The female mentor retreated several dozen meters, a gash torn in the robes over her chest, revealing a bloody welt on the fair skin beneath.

“So strong!”

The female mentor’s expression was grave.

Hu Chao arrived just in time to provide support. His cultivation was at the Celestial Pool Realm Fifth Layer, while the female mentor was at the Peak of Celestial Pool Realm Fourth Layer.

Even with the two of them working together, they still couldn’t gain an advantage.

For a moment, the situation did not look good for Liu Lu’s side.

Liu Lu had been too arrogant and had underestimated the enemy.

Under normal circumstances, if all five teams had worked together, defeating these two fleets from the Black Eagle Thief King Gang would have been no problem.

But because Liu Lu was determined to sabotage Luo Tian, they were short one powerful source of Celestial Level Combat Power.

Liu Lu had noticed this as well.

His Martial Arts Skills and Techniques were superior in both Tier and Realm.

But the Blood Blade Captain had stronger combat awareness and was far more ferocious and brutal!

“Master, I’m here to save you.”

On the other side, Luo Xiaoting and Guan Hongfei cut down a few pirates and rushed to rescue Luo Tian.

For some reason, they didn’t seem to encounter much resistance. The enemies they faced felt rather weak and were easily repelled.

In the eyes of the other mentors’ students, each of Luo Tian’s students was incredibly valiant.

CLANG!

Guan Hongfei unleashed a sharp Sword Qi that shone with a brilliant white light, striking the chains binding Luo Tian’s hands.

With a SNAP, the chains broke.

“Huh?”

Guan Hongfei was a little surprised. ‘Were these chains that brittle? They shattered with a single strike?’

He didn’t think much of it, as the situation was too chaotic.

“Liu Lu, you were too slow! I almost had to make the ultimate sacrifice.”

“When it comes down to it, I still have to be the one to save the day.”

Luo Tian scolded Liu Lu.

Liu Lu had been keeping an eye on Luo Tian’s situation.

‘Luo Tian was actually rescued by his own students?’

Liu Lu nearly burst out cursing.

‘What are these pirates even doing? How could they let their captive be rescued so easily?’
