For dinner, the General had the servants bring the meal into the bedroom. He gently woke Nie Shuang, helped her put on a middle layer of clothing, and brought the meal inside the room. As she sat down to eat, hunger overtook her, and she remained silent. Hmph! That foolish man was trying to pamper her now, likely aware of how fiercely he had ravished her earlier, leaving her utterly exhausted. Despite her sulky expression, the corners of his mouth curled into a tender smile.

“Are you angry at me? Didn’t you nod in agreement earlier?”

Feigning playfulness, she smacked his shoulder and teased him.

"Go on! Why are you lingering? It’s late already. I need to return to my own quarters too."

He didn’t delay any longer. Quickly dressing himself with the efficiency of a soldier, he gave her a lingering kiss before finally leaving.
