Chapter 2887: A Man Doesn’t Cry Easily
Chapter 2887: A Man Doesn’t Cry Easily
When he first obtained the Nature Jade last night, Zu An had been tempted to return to the Celestial Court world right away to look for the Goddess of Wu Mountain and the ancient Mermaid Queen, but he hadn’t wanted to upset Isabella. He couldn’t neglect his new lover for his old lovers.
So, he settled their marriage first and bade the two ladies farewell before activating the Nature Jade. Space rippled, and he vanished into thin air.
As she witnessed the disappearance of her lover, Isabella felt a profound sense of loss. She turned to Chu Chuyan and said, “Big sister Chu, big brother Zu must truly love those two ladies.”
Noticing her reddened eyes, Chu Chuyan wrapped her hand around her shoulder and said, “He’s a sentimental man. I have no doubt he’d go into a frenzy to save you if you went missing.”
Isabella bit her lips. She thought about the two precarious situations she'd been in, and how Zu An had saved her against all odds. “Big sister Chu, has big brother Zu gone to such lengths to rescue you before?”
Chu Chuyan’s pupils narrowed as she recalled the past. “Of course. He put everything on the line for my sake...”
“Can you share the story with me?” Isabella looked at her.
Chu Chuyan blushed. This request put her in a tight spot. She felt embarrassed sharing her stories with Isabella.
But Isabella grabbed her arm and insisted, “Big sister Chu, won’t you share your stories with me? I really want to know.”
She was so adorable that Chu Chuyan was reminded of her two sisters. Her heart softened, and she nodded.
Isabella was overjoyed. “You’re the best, big sister Chu!”
At the same time, she resolved herself to dig up stories about Zu An’s relationship with the Goddess of Wu Mountain and the ancient Mermaid Queen from Chu Chuyan.
No, it’s not just them. I should learn more about my other sisters as well. I want to know everything about big brother Zu.
...
Zu An was dazed. Within a second, he was transported from the Universal Conglomerate to the abyss near Feather Mountain. The familiar terrain filled him with joy. Yes, this familiar sensation of rich ki. I've finally returned to the Celestial Court world!
He hurriedly made his way toward the Wu Mountain from his memories. He had been here twice. His deep yearning for the Goddess of Wu Mountain made him extremely familiar with the path.
He noticed there were more ferocious beasts than normal along the way, but he paid them no mind. With the strength he wielded, these ferocious beasts were no different from pets to him. Even the Taowu, which he had nearly died to back then, couldn’t pose a threat to his current self.
And indeed, the beasts fearfully prostrated themselves upon sensing his aura. They dared not provoke him, lest it bring disaster to them. Zu An was in such a good mood that even the beasts looked adorable. He didn’t mind sparing their lives.
Soon, he arrived at Wu Mountain. His heart beat uncontrollably as he looked at the mountain shrouded in clouds. Hm? Why don’t I see Goddess Peak?
With a single step, he flashed toward the cavern’s entrance. “Yaoji, I'm back...” His voice quivered. The Goddess of Wu Mountain had waited tens of thousands of years for him, only to morph into Goddess Peak out of despair at the very end. He was determined not to let the tragedy repeat itself.
But he suddenly stiffened up. He noticed that the cavern was no longer there. He thought that he had gone to the wrong place, so he quickly searched the area. The more he looked around, the colder his heart felt. No, it’s not here at all!
His divine sense was more than enough to envelop the entirety of Wu Mountain, but neither the cavern nor Yaoji were anywhere to be found. Did I come too late again?
He quickly refuted that conjecture. The Goddess of Wu Mountain had left a projection for him in the present world. That proved that she had survived.
A terrifying thought arose in his heart, causing his body to turn ice-cold.
“Ten Shamans of Spirit Mountain, come out to meet me!” Zu An roared. His voice boomed through the mountain range with a hundred thousand kilometer radius. He wanted to know what had happened.
Several people flew over from all directions. They trembled in fear as they rushed over and kowtowed to him, uttering words that heralded him as their god.
These people weren’t mortals. How could they be ordinary mortals when they lived on a spirit mountain that was overflowing with ki? They were easily top-notch experts in the Cultivation World, but after sensing Zu An’s aura, none of them dared to step out of line.
Zu An was perplexed. They are indeed shamans, but they aren’t the Ten Shamans of Spirit Mountain whom I knew.
He asked some questions, and the shamans respectfully answered them. None of them had ever heard about the Ten Shamans of Spirit Mountain, and they had never met the Goddess of Wu Mountain, either. In fact, they insisted that the Wu Mountain had never had a goddess.
“How is this possible? How is this possible?!” Zu An panicked.
He suddenly raised his head and looked at the moon. Other things can change, but there’s no way the Frost Palace could have disappeared. Its existence predates even the Celestial Court. So, he flew toward heaven and soon vanished.
The shamans residing on the spirit mountain kowtowed to Zu An. They sensed not just his tremendous strength, but his pure shaman bloodline as well. They wondered where this lofty god had come from.
Zu An soon arrived on the moon. Only when he saw the Frost Palace did his furiously beating heart finally calm down a little. He'd been afraid that he would see nothing on the moon, just like what happened when he flew to the moon in the present day. Since the Frost Palace was still here, it meant that heaven and earth hadn’t been severed from each other yet.
“Suyin...” Zu An dared not to speak out loud, fearing that the earlier situation would repeat itself.
It was just a few hundred meters, a distance he could cover in an instant, but it felt longer than traveling between the corners of the world. He hesitated, but he knew that this was something he had to eventually confront. He mustered his courage and walked toward the Frost Palace. He called out with a quivering voice, “Suyin...”
A miracle didn’t happen. There was no response.
Zu An flew into the sky to inspect the Frost Palace from above. It was cold inside, and there was no sign of life whatsoever.
Gong Suyin was bound to the Frost Palace; she couldn’t stray too long away from it. Even if she had temporarily left, she should have returned by now. Clearly, she wasn’t here.
Why? This is the Celestial Court world, so why can’t I find the Goddess of Wu Mountain and Gong Suyin?
“Suyin, where are you?” Zu An sat on the steps of the Frost Palace. He felt like he had plummeted from heaven into hell. It had taken him so much trouble to return here, but he still couldn’t reunite with them.
Sorrow surged from his heart. He curled into a ball and wailed.
Some time later, a contemptuous voice echoed from the side. “Tsk tsk tsk. Don’t you find it embarrassing for a grown man like you to be sobbing like a child here?”
