It was a world filled with surreal lights, reflecting places Zu An was familiar with, including those from his previous life’s Earth.

The Deity of Love and Beauty chuckled. “This world was created based on the most beautiful places in your memories. You have been through quite the experience. No wonder I fell in love with you.”

Zu An’s face darkened. “You aren’t her!”

He placed his hand on the Netherworld Book of Life and Death, but looking at her beautiful silhouette, he couldn’t bring himself to do it. No one could bear to destroy such an impeccable entity.

The Deity of Love and Beauty sighed. “I’m not lying to you. I’m her, and she’s me.”

Zu An frowned. “What do you mean?”

The Deity of Love and Beauty looked at the starry sky with a complicated expression. “Back then...”

She paused for a long while before finally continuing, “Using terms you comprehend, you can say that Yu Yanluo is my reincarnation.”

“Reincarnation?” Zu An was taken aback.

“Yes. I reincarnated to avoid something scary. There should have been some time more before my consciousness returned, but I didn’t expect that fellow to awaken me prematurely through a ritual.”

Zu An sneered, “Then how can I confirm that Yu Yanluo is your reincarnation?”

The dreamy silhouette faded as the Deity of Love and Beauty closed her eyes. Yu Yanluo’s body suddenly plummeted to the ground. Zu An rushed forward to catch her.

The world collapsed, and the two of them were transported back to the altar.

Yu Yanluo’s body trembled before she slowly opened her eyes. She touched her face with a tender expression. “Ah Zu, I heard your conversation.”

She was confident in their relationship, but she hadn’t thought that there would be a man in the world who could resist the Deity of Love and Beauty’s charm. She remained uncertain even when the Deity of Love and Beauty made a bet with her.

Unable to suppress her overflowing feelings, she leaned forward and kissed her lover.

Zu An could immediately tell that Yu Yanluo had returned, and he was overjoyed. The two of them were ecstatic at their reunion, especially since just moments ago, they were only inches away from an eternal farewell.

To Hermes, it looked as if the Deity of Love and Beauty was offering her kiss to Zu An. He was already in a feeble state, and this was the final blow. “Deity of Love and Beauty, I have done so much for you, so how can you treat me like that? I feel so aggrieved!”

This sight alarmed the other two. Yu Yanluo sighed. “I didn’t expect the woman who looked so lascivious on the surface to have such a sentimental soul.”

“They fell in love with people they shouldn’t have,” Zu An remarked.

“I’m glad that I fell in love with you.” Yu Yanluo clutched his clothes tighter.

The two of them embraced for a long time.

Just then, footsteps echoed. The earlier commotion had alarmed Hermes’ subordinates. Hermes had strictly ordered his men not to come over, no matter what they heard, but the earlier phenomenon was so wondrous that they had to muster their courage to investigate.

Zu An reacted fast and morphed into Hermes to stop the soldiers. “There’s no need to panic. Several rebels infiltrated the area in an attempt to capture Yongli, but I have made quick work of them.”

“All hail King Pingxi!” The soldiers cheered.

Zu An exuded an intimidating aura, and he was embracing his consort. There was little reason to doubt his identity. But isn’t our consort being held hostage in the capital? There’s no way the imperial palace would allow her to slip out here.

After dismissing the soldiers, Zu An buried Hermes and Lilith at a discreet location. Following Yu Yanluo’s advice, he buried them together.

“Ah Zu, are we going to return to the capital?” Yu Yanluo asked.

Zu An shook his head. “An unexpected variable cropped up. We might have to stay here for many more years.”
