Chapter 2746: Destination

Chapter 2746: Destination

Zu An wouldn’t have understood those words either if he hadn’t inherited Fleeting Baldie’s knowledge of languages. It was a language from a supernatural world, a powerful one that rarely interacted with the other worlds. Even Fleeting Baldie had only grasped a bit of their language.

'How can it be ****'? What could that last word be?

He couldn’t understand the last word due to his limited grasp of the language, but he could sense the mysterious entity’s extreme fear of whatever that was. Just the eye of that entity was enough to heap immense pressure on everyone on the frigate, so it was hard to imagine what could have provoked such a huge response from it.

The old woman’s lips quivered. She wanted to curse but didn’t dare to do so, and that left her feeling unbearably stifled.

The others understood how she felt. She had paid a heavy price, only for the mysterious entity to take her tribute but not do any work. Anyone in her place would have wanted to curse as well.

Isabella hurriedly took out a pill from her bag and fed it to the old woman. The flesh around the old woman’s shoulder quickly regrew, and it didn’t take long for her arm to follow.

The old woman thanked Isabella profusely. She had the means to regrow her arm as well, but that would take more time, and she would have to consume tonics to ensure a smooth recovery. Yet those problems were all circumvented with Isabella’s pill.

Isabella did live up to her reputation as the Acadias’ big miss after all.

“I still have no idea why that lord suddenly retreated. He normally gets things done after accepting my tribute.” The old woman was still confused by the earlier situation.

Zu An told the guests what he'd heard from the mysterious entity.

Isabella looked at Zu An with surprised eyes. She was impressed that on top of all the abilities he had already displayed, he also understood that supernatural world’s language.

The guests were appalled. What could have struck fear in an entity of that level? Could this place truly be related to the Deity of Death?

Since they couldn’t even figure out the directions, neither advancing nor retreating was an option for them. This put the crowd at a loss.

Just then, Yani turned to Zu An and asked, “Didn’t Alati hand you a key earlier? Could that be a clue?”

Zu An took out the uniquely-shaped key. He'd found nothing special about it when he examined it earlier, but right now, the key was emanating a white light, as if resonating with something.

The light converged in the sky and slowly formed a map.

“This...” The previously fearful crowd suddenly trembled in excitement and greed. They realized they might have truly stumbled upon a fortuitous encounter. Under normal circumstances, they wouldn’t have found a fortuitous encounter even if they had devoted their lives to searching for it, but it just so happened that Zu An had the map.

We’re on the same boat now. Surely he can’t lock us out after we find the fortuitous encounter? As per convention in the Myriad Worlds, once we find it, it’ll be up to the individual to obtain whatever they can from it.

Something guarded by the ex-Death envoy Alati and this law-warping labyrinth was bound to be extraordinary. Thus, the guests urged Yani to follow the map.

Yani said, “Since we can’t retreat anymore, we’ll have to advance. We might find another way out of this place.”

Zu An frowned. “I came here to rescue my friend.”

The other guests tried to persuade Zu An. “There’s not a single living being around us. It’s unlikely that you’ll find Miss Firework by wandering aimlessly in this fog labyrinth. It’d be wiser for us to follow the map. Think about it. The sea monster should be familiar with this region for it to bring Miss Firework here, so she could be at the location indicated on the map.”

Zu An thought those words made sense. He'd tried communicating with the sea creatures in the vicinity, only to find there were no living beings around them. Their only clue was the map, so their best bet was to try their luck there.

Yani began sailing the frigate according to the map's directions. Said map also contained an arrow that always pointed in the right direction despite the distortion.

Often, when the crowd thought they should continue heading forward, the arrow told them to head in the opposite direction. So in the end, Yani ordered her subordinates to close their eyes and just blindly follow her instructions, lest they be fooled by their senses. As a result, the frigate kept changing directions, sometimes even circling non-stop on the spot.

Yet the crowd felt themselves approaching their destination.

Alfred, who was standing in front of Isabella to guard her, sent her a telepathic message. “Big miss, please make sure to keep close to me. A place guarded by an ex-Death envoy is bound to be fraught with dangers.”

He didn’t want to come here, as it would expose Isabella to too much danger, but unfortunately, he didn’t have a choice. They had an artifact to create a ship, but they wouldn’t be able to navigate their way out of an ocean region where even the East Fish had given up. It would be courting death to leave the frigate now, so they could only follow the others and hope for the best.

Isabella maintained her graceful smile while replying telepathically, “Uncle Alfred, it should be safest for us to stay close to big brother Zu.”

Alfred frowned. “Big miss, you can know a person but not their heart. It hasn’t been long since you met him...”

Isabella shook her head. “Big brother Zu is willing to take such a huge risk to rescue a friend whom he has only just met; he is a trustworthy person. Of everyone on this frigate, he has the purest motive.

“Not to forget, he has obtained Alati’s key and received the Deity of Memory’s favor. This shows he is blessed with luck. Staying with someone who is upright and has luck on his side increases our chances of surviving this crisis.”

“Our big miss has grown up.” Alfred was moved. Our big miss is kind but not foolish. If anything, she is sharper than most people.

The frigate continued advancing. By the time their location pin overlapped with their destination on the map, the bizarre fog had already vanished, revealing a vast ocean region.

“Huh? Why is there nothing here?”

The crowd was baffled. There was nothing but water surrounding them.

Just then, Zu An’s key suddenly glowed rhythmically. The calm ocean began twirling, instantaneously forming a massive whirlpool that they couldn’t see the end of. The frigate’s engines couldn’t struggle free of the whirlpool and was sucked into it.

Even if they somehow survived falling into the ocean’s unfathomable depths, they would still be flattened by the terrifying pressure down there. Several frightened guests tried to fly away from the frigate, hoping that they could escape the whirlpool’s suction force while they were still on its outer perimeter.

As soon as they rose into the sky, however, their faces suddenly warped in horror. They plummeted into the whirlpool faster than the frigate and vanished instantly, leaving behind nothing but miserable cries.
