Chapter 2679: Losing Control

Chapter 2679: Losing Control

Zu An raised his hand and enveloped the nearby mountain peaks in a thin golden layer before shouting, “Please fight within this arena. Don’t go overboard in the fight.”

There was no lack of experts among the spectators in the academy, and they were all astonished by the strength of the golden layer. The academy often held tournaments as well, in which they inscribed similar formations on the dueling rings to prevent the shockwaves from destroying the academy’s buildings and harming innocent spectators. But the formations only spanned the size of a training field at most, and even so, they were always prepared days in advance.

However, the libationer had constructed such a massive formation in the blink of an eye, and it was strong enough to withstand attacks from top-notch experts like Sect Master Yan and Sect Master Yun.

The morning sun shone on the peaceful mountain valley, cloaking the lush mountain peaks in a golden sheet.

Two beautiful figures glared at each other in midair. Their brief clash had left the two of them shocked. They'd both thought that given their recent breakthroughs and the power bestowed by their respective universal deities, it would be an easy fight, but the other party had also grown beyond their imagination.

Under their glares, the air became so tense that it felt almost viscous. Upon sensing their murderous intent, the birds residing in the mountain forests fled in fear.

Yan Xuehen raised her hand, and her Flying Snow Sword emerged from its sheath. Its blade resembled a slender ice crystal that glimmered brilliantly under the sun. The light reflected could easily affect most opponents, but it wasn’t enough to even faze Yun Jianyue.

Yun Jianyue responded by lighting an ancient lantern. The flame inside the lantern was tiny, looking as if it would be extinguished at any moment, but its gentle brilliance instantly enveloped all the nearby mountain peaks. Even the sun paled in comparison to it. It felt as if the day had suddenly turned into night, and the ancient lantern was the moon.

Yan Xuehen’s Flying Snow Sword was no longer as brilliant as before, but she didn’t lose her composure. The sword vibrated, transforming the gentle mountain breeze into a powerful frigid gale. Snow began raining from the sky, cloaking the mountain peaks.

She slowly made her way toward Yun Jianyue, her every step leaving a beautiful ice crystal pattern. The air between her and Yun Jianyue froze. The incredible cold was reminiscent of a prison; it could even freeze the body and blood of a top-notch expert. On top of that, sharp ice crystals manifested out of thin air and whizzed toward Yun Jianyue.

“Your Snowflake Sword has advanced another level,” Yun Jianyue said with a chuckle. She gently stepped on an ice crystal before her silhouette blurred like fleeting moonlight.

The omnipresent ice cage could indeed trap all things tangible, but how could it imprison moonlight? Yun Jianyue’s body was incredibly fluid, dodging the incoming ice crystals with graceful movements.

Awed exclamations echoed from the academy. The younger students gulped.

“How beautiful...”

As someone who had mastered Bewitching Voice, Yun Jianyue’s every gesture and chuckle could siphon away a person’s soul. Now that she had received the Deity of Desires’ bestowment, even without her intentionally seducing them, normal people couldn’t hope to resist her charms.

As she flitted across the air, Yun Jianyue left silhouettes in her wake. By the time she appeared once more, she was already standing in front of Yan Xuehen. Her crescent glaives were as thin as a cicada’s wings, looking as if a glowing silver fluid was flowing within them; they seemed to be imbued with the moon’s power. They moved in a perfect arc, forming yet another full moon in the sky.

But the top-notch experts present sensed the danger of the full moon—it was formed by compressing immense force together. It surreptitiously swept toward Yan Xuehen’s waist, slicing through the raging snowstorm that was protecting her.

Yan Xuehen channeled the Flying Snow Sword, choosing to counterattack instead of dodging. Its sword tip precisely struck the edge of the full moon.

A weaker cultivator would likely have chosen to strike the moon’s body, but its weak spot lay in its perimeter. There was a crisp sound, and the moon shattered into specks of light.

Awed exclamations echoed outside the mountain valley. None of the spectators thought they could resolve this crisis as gracefully as Yan Xuehen.

Qiu Honglei tensed up. “Will master be alright?”

Yun Yuqing patted her head and said, “Don’t worry. Big sister won’t lose that easily.”

Yun Jianyue dashed through the specks of light and swiftly approached Yan Xuehen like a specter. It was as if she had cast aside her corporeal body, her steps leaving behind graceful black afterimages. No more than a handful of people in the academy could see her true body.

The earlier full moon attack had been a feint. She'd known that Yan Xuehen could unravel her attack, but the shattered specks of light would seep into the latter's body and slow her ki circulation for an instant. That was more than enough time for her to strike.

Yun Jianyue quickly weaved a tight moonlight net resembling a lover’s embrace with her crescent glaives. Her slashes were imbued with the ancient lantern’s moonlight energy, granting them incomparable sharpness and a tinge of law that affected its target’s movements and mind.

The mountain valley turned into her moonlight domain. No one except for Zu An could make out her silhouette, for every beam of moonlight was her!

Yan Xuehen’s expression turned grim. She held the Flying Snow Sword in front of her while manifesting swords of ice behind herself. The crisp buzzing of a blade echoed in the air. Her hair and robe fluttered as snow shrouded her body, forming a massive avatar of ice.

As she swung her blade down, the avatar behind her fused into her Flying Snow Sword, and she unleashed a powerful burst of blue sword ki that sliced the moonlight in two. The sword ki even reached the clouds on the horizon, cutting them in half as well.

All the spectators stood up and craned their necks to look at the distant blue hue with shocked eyes. If not for Zu An’s barrier, the capital could have been sliced in half as well.

Even Zu An was taken aback. The earlier slash had nearly shattered his barrier. It was a relief that he had reacted quickly and reinforced it. He had used his godlike powers to isolate this area into a mini world, but Yan Xuehen’s sword had the power to slice through that world! Her growth far surpassed his wildest imaginations.

“Master!” Qiu Honglei grabbed her sleeves. Even Yun Yuqing wasn’t as confident as before.

“Don’t worry, she’s fine,” Zu An said.

The brilliant moonlight in the mountain valley suddenly turned red. Even the moon in the sky transformed into a blood moon. A coy laugh echoed from the blood moon. “Ice sculpture, I didn’t expect your swordsmanship to have reached this level. I underestimated you.”

The crowd looked over. A beautiful figure was seated in the blood moon. Her sleeves had disappeared due to the earlier sword slash, but her fair arms, coupled with her amazing figure, left her oozing with seductive charm.

Zu An’s head hurt. This woman is unknowingly emanating the Deity of Desires’ power, and it’s affecting everyone in the academy!
