Chapter 2744: Honest and Simple Folk

Before these people could answer, a law enforcement team arrived nearby through the district’s portal. Seeing the situation turn unfavorable, the woman in the red dress had already fled. They had a small-range teleportation device in their hands, and by the time the law enforcement team was dealt with, they had escaped beyond the park.

It wasn’t really necessary to go against the district government right at the start of the instance. Xu Huo tossed this group of people to another direction in the park and followed the escape route of the woman in the red dress and her companions.

Their instrument couldn’t teleport a long distance, and there were no strict spatial transmission limits in the city, so catching up to them wasn’t difficult.

They didn’t immediately return home after leaving the park but instead went around to another bustling street. Continuing to disguise themselves as dancers, they pulled Outer Zone people to dance. Not only Outer Zone players but also ordinary tourists from the Outer Zone were their targets. In less than an hour, they succeeded five times, with targets being players twice. Although they would be pursued afterward, thanks to the small-range teleportation prop and the cooperation with the nearby law enforcement team, those two players retreated when they found it wasn’t worth the trouble.

They zigzagged and twisted their way back to the residential area in the south of the city.

It’s worth mentioning Zone 022; even the residential areas on the city’s edges are very beautiful, with infrastructure keeping up. Although the population is relatively concentrated, enough technology supports these buildings getting higher and higher.

After following them for a while, Xu Huo realized that the welfare for ordinary people in Zone 022 is quite good, and there’s no worry about food and drink, but they have strict level segregation. This segregation doesn’t directly divide people into tiers of citizens but restricts some people’s activity range.

People like the woman in the red dress, their activity range is only a tenth of the entire Zone 022.

"Tonight wasn’t bad," said several people as they sat down in the spacious living room. Big Beard poured props and wallet-like items out of his pocket onto the table, nodding happily.

The woman in the red dress didn’t seem so optimistic, "The law enforcement team lost face today, and we don’t know if anyone died; if someone died, we’re in big trouble."

"Their skills are inferior, clearly people were willing to spend money to avoid disaster, yet they insisted on courting death, who can blame them?" Big Beard said irritably.

At this moment, a frail young man emerged from the room, "Nothing much has been heard from the law enforcement team; it should be no big deal."

"Why are you up?" The woman in the red dress looked at him, "Did we wake you?"

"I couldn’t sleep." The young man looked at the things on the table and said, "Something happened tonight?"

The woman in the red dress was reluctant to say, but Big Beard, being forthright, quickly spilled the whole story.

The young man’s face darkened a bit, "Since that player can control so many law enforcement members, surely he can track you down too. The props taken from him should be kept; if he comes searching, be sure to return them. Tell the law enforcement team that we didn’t succeed."

"Isn’t it too serious?" Big Beard hesitated a bit.

The young man looked at the woman in the red dress, "Sis, I’ve told you many times, don’t target players; you’re all ordinary people, a misstep might cost lives."

"The props and instruments are worth a bit of money; with them, we can exchange for better equipment so you can get treatment at a good hospital." The woman in the red dress said, "Besides, it’s not just about the present, it’s about the future."

"I don’t want to be restricted wherever I go, paying high prices for free flying devices because I haven’t paid enough resident tax; do you want to live like this until death?"

These words quieted everyone present; after a moment, the young man said, "Don’t so many people live like this?"

The woman in the red dress stood up, "Others might, but I can’t!"

She turned to enter the room, but just then, a prop on the table suddenly disappeared into thin air, and the people sitting nearby all sprang up, cautiously looking around, but nothing happened.

After waiting for a while, the young man said, "This time, we’ve met a broad-minded player, next time we might not be so lucky."

Having retrieved the prop, Xu Huo found a hotel to stay in, selected a good angle of the law enforcement team photo, then attached the prop’s picture to a tourist log, with the title "Law Enforcement Team Deploys Dozens to Help Foreign Tourist Successfully Retrieve Lost Prop," expressing gratitude.

Originally, such tourist logs weren’t unusual, good deeds both fake and factual exist, but his log featured quite a few players, and now a law enforcement team appeared—locals might not know outsiders, but they’re familiar with their own law enforcement team. Outer Zone players, losing a prop, let alone life, is of no concern to them. Moreover, from the positioning in the stationary photo and the expressions of law enforcement members, it doesn’t look like a helpful scene.

Zhou Juanjuan and others commented and liked.

Then other unfamiliar Outer Zone players liked the post.

The next day, with the dawn, Xu Huo continued his previous routine, visiting different attractions, tasting local delicacies, and buying souvenirs. He also went to the local exhibition hall, where upon seeing a displayed gemstone, the game prompted him that he had found the attraction’s souvenir.

There were quite a few players entering with him, obviously, he wasn’t the only one discovering this souvenir.

Many were eager to try, and Xu Huo withdrew from the crowd, found the exhibition’s organizer, and proposed buying the gemstone.

The organizer repeatedly declined, stating that this was an exhibition treasure, and the original owner didn’t want to sell. But when Xu Huo tripled his price, the purchase agreement was immediately sent over, only when they went to collect the gemstone, it vanished along with the entire locked display cabinet.

The organizer immediately closed the exhibition hall, forbidding any entry and exit, and reported to the law enforcement team to investigate. However, the exhibition hall wasn’t fully closed yet, and several players escaped one after another. Due to prop interference, they failed to use spatial transmission successfully; three minutes later, these individuals were also rounded up for group photos.

Soon, Xu Huo’s tourist log added another "Kindhearted Person Finds Valuable Lost Items and Returns Them to the Original Owner" photo diary.

Ordinary viewers could already sense what his tourist log was about; those with interest would chime in, further praising the district’s simple folk style.

Levi replied below, "Did you find a souvenir so quickly? I stayed up all night without any results."

Xu Huo replied: "Keep it up."

After successfully acquiring the souvenir, he went to the third city, initially just to play. If he didn’t find any souvenirs within two days, he would "inquire" nearby players. Sometimes luck would strike, where a "kindhearted person" would proactively "gift" him with a souvenir they acquired, and he wouldn’t hold back, taking photos together and returning a local specialty purchase.

Upon arriving at the sixth city, souvenirs were no longer randomly generated but appeared with specific requirements:

"A hummingbird with a red feather head from Rose Studio."
