Chapter 2697: Traversing Through Space

Music shouldn’t be played again, Xu Huo and Yan Jiayu walked a half-circle on the fourth floor, there were simply too many rooms, and time didn’t allow them to select carefully.

"Do you have good luck?" Xu Huo asked Yan Jiayu, "Otherwise, pick one at random."

Yan Jiayu was a bit troubled, "Sometimes I feel I have good luck, but other times it’s quite bad."

The good luck showed in her frequent entries into interesting random instances, but every time she managed to come out alive. The bad luck was that even so, she could stumble upon a super dungeon.

"My luck has always been not great." Xu Huo said, "Easy to open a mine."

Yan Jiayu nodded, "I just feel like you’re a bit odd, let me do it."

"Counting soldiers and generals, who gets picked will be the one..." She used a simple method to select a room, and opened the door under Xu Huo’s protection.

Behind the door was a study, empty with no suspicious live props, the burning fireplace made the air warm, relaxing one’s body and mind instantly.

Xu Huo and Yan Jiayu simultaneously stopped at the door, and without hesitation, retreated and closed the door.

"We can’t afford this, this castle is actually full of traps..." But before finishing the sentence, the ground beneath them gave way.

They fell for a full half-minute before reaching the floor. The surroundings looked no different from the third floor, but Xu Huo and Yan Jiayu both knew this wasn’t the third floor they had walked through earlier.

At the end of the corridors on both sides appeared mirror space, their shadows were repeatedly overlapped within the mirrors, making it seem as though the corridor had no end.

But Xu Huo and Yan Jiayu stood there gravely. If it were just mirror space, it would be fine, but the mirrored figures of themselves on either side were moving independently, as if several identical people were trapped in different spaces, searching for an exit.

Someone discovered them!

A pair of Xu Huo and Yan Jiayu saw them and ran towards them, only to be blocked by the mirror, pounding the space barrier, yelling at them soundlessly, their terrified faces clearly visible—Yan Jiayu appearing in the mirrors wasn’t in a kangaroo suit, retaining her original appearance.

"Damn it, seeing so many of myself standing in front of me, I can hardly recognize my own face." Yan Jiayu stared at the mirror, "But they look a bit different from how I am now."

"What’s different?" Xu Huo asked.

"This should be how I looked when I came in," Yan Jiayu said solemnly, "Even though I have strong recovery abilities, I’ve lost a lot of weight after repeatedly tearing open my body. You’re different too, the mirror version of you doesn’t have black eye circles."

Xu Huo rubbed under his eyes, just one or two days, how could a player’s physical condition result in black eye circles?

Without wiping anything off his face, he realized he might have been unknowingly affected by something, but these toxins hadn’t had a major impact on his body, so under high mental tension, he hadn’t noticed a thing.

"Are you okay?" Yan Jiayu knew a bit, understanding Xu Huo had potent antitoxin, so she joked.

"For now, I’m fine." Xu Huo replied, not knowing what poison had afflicted him. If a huge amount of mycelium is needed as antitoxin, he would need to use the Nüwa Stone to let the King Fungus proliferate continuously.

For now, as there was no sensation in his body, the short-term problem should not be significant.

During this time, the mirrors on both sides silently closed in on them, allowing the two to decisively choose a door and enter. However, upon stepping inside, the entire room, including the corridor behind them, suddenly shattered into countless mirror fragments, each reflecting their images, and in the next moment, the two were absorbed into different mirror shards!

From the fragmented mirrors, countless mirror reflections were still visible, but this time Xu Huo and Yan Jiayu could only see themselves—they had been scattered into different spaces!

Xu Huo attempted to break the space with the Black Blade, but aside from shattering the surrounding mirrors further, it was of no use. However, the spatial instrument could be used; he cast several space cutting lines repeatedly across the mirrors, trying several dozen times before finally a crack appeared on the mirror that didn’t immediately repair.

Throwing the "Soaked Kelp" into the crack to clear a path, the mirrors began rapidly shattering from the fissure, and after the shards collapsed, a pitch-black space emerged behind.

No trace of light, sensation was difficult to extend.

Xu Huo retreated back into mirror space without hesitation, opening a path from another direction this time. The crack led to a castle room, and upon entering, the room suddenly twisted into a sinister forest path, the tree canopy swaying, as if something was approaching from afar.

He didn’t need to observe carefully, the large creature soon appeared above the canopy, a head drooping from the trees, exhaling a thick black gas at him.

The mechanical suit promptly covered his mouth and nose, Xu Huo crossed the mental portal into the high air, facing the giant monster’s swiping hand, slicing a cut around its wrist, then used time force to freeze its body, and moved to the monster’s rear, plunging a blade into the back of its neck!

The blade passed through metallic materials with a snapping sound, the next second, the giant monster roared, breaking free from the time force control, turning to attack him!

Xu Huo was indeed surprised, aiming a horizontal blade at the monster’s eye, slicing across, fracturing the monster’s eyeball. Still, he was also swatted away, crashed into the forest.

The active vines rose like waves high walls, defenses only briefly withstood before he returned quickly to the sky.

One might get caught by a doll, triggering an alarm—consequences would be unimaginable.

The three changed course upstairs, intending to find a room for shelter but unexpectedly saw Si Qi’s corpse upon entering the fourth floor, Zhu Bo and Hongxi, who accompanied him, were nowhere to be found.

Si Qi died looking unpleasant, the body shriveled as if drained, hard to recognize at a glance if not for unaltered clothes and accessories.

Xu Huo and Yan Jiayu exchanged a glance, deciding to proceed despite uncertainties, for if the fourth floor were more dangerous than the third, the fifth floor couldn’t be much safer.

The three avoided the corpse, cautiously bypassing it. At the moment of belief nothing happened, the dry corpse suddenly sat upright, startling Qi Cong, who reacted instinctively by jumping back, accidentally slipping, and crashing into the wall!

Behind him was a painting, upon touching it, he was instantly absorbed into the canvas, Xu Huo couldn’t stop him, upon reaching witnessed only a layer of rippling waves on the painting’s surface. On closer inspection, Qi Cong was standing in the painting’s lower right corner, alongside the missing Zhu Bo and Hongxi.

"Group photo?" Yan Jiayu watched two seconds, "Their illustrations have become distorted, given time they may die inside."

She then directly pulled the painting off the wall.

Xu Huo was slightly stunned. Once sure she wasn’t harmed, he composed himself and said, "Let’s first find Li Chun and Da Mao."
