Chapter 299: Are you my father?
Chu Fan stayed in the Bamboo Sea for three days. During this time, he left once to take Hui Ke and Gui Fan to the border between the Central Domain and the Southern Domain.
This was their shared wish. Gui Fan wanted to rise with a completely new identity and assist Yan Ying in the future (at this time, Chu Fan still didn’t know that Yan Ying had changed his name to Long Yintian).
As for Hui Ke, he still had to search for the True Body Relics of his past lives.
In the Bamboo Sea, Chu Fan learned that Yun Xi had only taken a little over six months at the beginning to expel the Death Qi from her body. For the past few years, she had been studying the Medical Dao with the four old-timers.
Moreover, she was exceptionally talented and intelligent, grasping things instantly. She learned quickly, especially with the help of the many Spirit Medicines Chu Fan had left for her.
She could now refine ordinary Elixirs. As for acupuncture, she had already learned Liu Yizhen’s Earth Demon Seventy-Two Needles. If she could master the Celestial Spirit Thirty-Six Needles and the Extreme Nine Needles, she would be able to graduate.
Of course, with acupuncture, the fewer the needles, the harder the technique was to learn. Yun Xi herself didn’t know how much longer it would take to completely master all of Liu Yizhen’s skills.
As for the Medicinal Technique, Yun Xi estimated it would take another three to five years to fully learn Miao Guchun’s methods. But to apply them flexibly and effectively, she would need practical experience, which was something that couldn’t be learned by analogy.
The Insect Gu Technique was different from the other three arts. The others started simple and grew more complex—easy to begin, but increasingly profound. The Insect Gu Technique, however, was difficult from the very beginning.
Therefore, of all the skills taught by her four masters, Yun Xi was slowest at learning Dugu Ling’s Insect Gu Technique.
Still, Yun Xi was confident that after ten years of study here, she would be ready to go out and gain experience.
Ten years was a long time, but for cultivators like them who had reached the Divine Separation Realm or higher, it wasn’t long at all. Hadn’t Chu Fan just spent three and a half years in a single moment of epiphany?
During these three days, with the four shameless old men around, Chu Fan and Yun Xi didn’t… do *that*. Since Yun Xi had now started Alchemy, Chu Fan gave her the Elixir Manual he had obtained in the Miracle Secret Realm.
Before leaving, he took out all the Spirit Medicines he had dug up in the Hua Xu Secret Realm.
Seeing the mountain of medicinal herbs, the four old-timers all started cursing loudly. “What a waste! A colossal waste! How could you just pile up herbs of this quality so carelessly?”
The four of them scrambled to sort the herbs, cursing Chu Fan with every type they put away.
In truth, he couldn’t be blamed. After all, he knew nothing about pharmacology and didn’t even know the names of most of these herbs. How was he supposed to know how to store them?
Once they had finished sorting everything, Chu Fan waved his hand grandly and said, “If there are any other herbs you need, make me a list. I’ll have them ready for you next time I visit.”
Unexpectedly, the four old-timers didn’t treat him like a stranger at all. Each of them immediately produced a prepared list and handed it to Chu Fan.
Seeing the endless items on the lists, Chu Fan couldn’t help but slap his forehead.
“Kid, remember, one year. You’re not allowed to come and bother us for one whole year.”
After Chu Fan took the lists, Shi Lun didn’t forget to add a warning.
‘Whatever,’ he thought. ‘For the sake of Yun Xi completing her training sooner, I won’t bicker with these old guys.’
When Chu Fan left, the two were naturally reluctant to part. However, Yun Xi knew Chu Fan was in a hurry to return to the Eastern Domain, so she acted more nonchalant than he did.
Leaving the Bamboo Sea, he activated the Space-Time Shuttle and rushed toward Jade Dragon Snow Mountain.
However, Jade Dragon Snow Mountain was a vast expanse of white snow, and figuring out where to hide the Space-Time Shuttle gave Chu Fan a bit of a headache.
He definitely couldn’t put it in the Jun Tianjian World. That world was filled with boundless Death Qi. If he placed the Space-Time Shuttle inside, Chu Fan worried the Death Qi would spread to the Hua Xu Secret Realm and ruin that pristine place.
Fortunately, after circling Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, he found a cave and piloted the Space-Time Shuttle inside.
Emerging from the cave, he flew toward Piaoxue Palace with Bai Yun in tow.
The reason he came here before returning to the Eastern Domain was partly to see Leng Yingxue, and partly because of Wen Chan.
After spending so long in the Secret Realm, Chu Fan didn’t know if Wen Chan was still at the inn, nor did he know if Long Jingyao had made any moves against him.
He had come here to inform Leng Yingxue that Wen Chan was a lead to finding the God Slaughter Hall.
He certainly couldn’t show his face in Jianye City right now, but Leng Yingxue could. After all, she was in the Saint Realm.
“Who goes there?”
Before he even reached the mountain where Piaoxue Palace was located, several female disciples in long white dresses blocked his path.
“Please inform Palace Master Leng that an old friend has come to see her. If she asks my name, just say that we met in the Bamboo Sea.”
“You should leave. Our Palace Master does not receive male visitors,” the disciple said coldly.
“I advise you to ask your Palace Master anyway. If that’s not enough, then tell her I have a clue about the God Slaughter Hall.”
Hearing the words “God Slaughter Hall,” the expressions of the female disciples all changed.
Not daring to delay any longer, they sent one of the women back to Piaoxue Palace on a Flying Sword.
Before long, Leng Yingxue arrived. When she stood before Chu Fan, her eyes were filled with utter disbelief.
“You… You’re not dead?”
“This isn’t the place to talk. Since I’m here, aren’t you going to invite me in for a chat?” Chu Fan said with a smile.
Leng Yingxue’s expression immediately returned to its usual cold arrogance. “Follow me!”
With that, she flew up into the air. Chu Fan, with Bai Yun in tow, followed closely behind.
They flew directly over the main halls of Piaoxue Palace, stopping on the peak of an isolated snowy mountain where a single residence stood.
Upon entering the residence, Chu Fan knew it was her private dwelling without even having to guess.
It was simply too plain, with no ornate decorations or even any superfluous furnishings.
“She’s a White Fox?”
Before Chu Fan could answer, Bai Yun spoke for herself. “That’s right, Sister Leng! Did you miss me?”
Hearing Bai Yun’s words, the cold, arrogant expression that seemed etched on Leng Yingxue’s face for a thousand years couldn’t help but soften slightly.
“I knew a scoundrel like you wouldn’t die so easily!”
“Are you that eager for me to die?” Chu Fan couldn’t help but roll his eyes.
“State your business. Once you’re done, get out of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain,” Leng Yingxue said coldly.
“I had no choice but to fake my death in the Hua Xu Secret Realm. Otherwise, I might really be dead by now. With Crown Prince Long Jingyao’s schemes, do you think he would have let me live?”
“That’s not important. What I want to know is the clue about the God Slaughter Hall.”
“God Slaughter Hall? Oh, right, God Slaughter Hall. Before entering the Hua Xu Secret Realm, I met a Courtesan named Wen Chan. She claimed to be from Chaoyin Pavilion, but my secret investigation revealed she’s actually the Pavilion Master of Chaoyin Pavilion, and that Chaoyin Pavilion is a Sub-Hall of the God Slaughter Hall. At the time, because I had to enter the Hua Xu Secret Realm, I left her at an inn in Jianye City. I didn’t expect to be delayed in the Secret Realm for so long, so you can go look for her at that inn. If she’s no longer there, you can ask Yan Ying for help.”
After hearing Chu Fan’s words, Leng Yingxue hesitated, wondering whether she should tell him that Yan Ying had already ascended the throne as emperor. But just then, a little boy, not even as tall as Chu Fan’s thigh, suddenly darted out.
“Father, are you my father?”
The moment the little boy saw Chu Fan, he ran up to him, grabbed his robes, and asked, tilting his head up.
