Chapter 283: Chapter 283: Wei Mian Picks the Celestial Dao Fruit

Three more hours passed. Yan Ying finally finished refining the Primordial Spirit Pill, her cultivation rising to the Divine Separation Realm Tier Nine Peak. The others had long since finished their cultivation and were all waiting quietly just for her.

Once Yan Ying was done, they all rose to their feet.

"The Celestial Dao Fruits are in a valley," Chu Fan said. "It’s not just the fruits; there are also plenty of other Spirit Medicines. I don’t know much about herbs, so I couldn’t identify most of them. Let’s go take a look together!"

Chu Fan wasn’t lying. He had indeed been to that valley before, having spent three or four days inside and killed several waves of beasts.

Moreover, the valley was huge. Chu Fan estimated it was no smaller than the grounds of the Hua Xu Empire’s Imperial Palace.

The variety of medicinal herbs inside was immense, simply beyond count.

If the medicinal herbs from this valley could be brought to the outside world, it would probably shake the entire world.

Wherever Spirit Medicines grow, there are bound to be guardian beasts, and this valley was naturally no exception.

In fact, the beasts Chu Fan had encountered in this valley were the most formidable he had met in the past half a month.

For example, the giant, stone-covered bull with Combat Power comparable to the Integration Realm Peak was found in this valley.

They took to the air, and a little over two hours later, they arrived at the valley.

As they arrived, the sounds of battle echoed from within the valley.

Chu Fan recognized them on sight, thanks to a list Crown Prince Long Jingyao had given him.

The dozen or so people were all Noble Youths. The one with the highest cultivation was at Integration Realm Tier Three, while most were in the Divine Separation and Soul Emergence Realms.

With their level of Combat Power, they were truly out of their depth in this valley.

And that was indeed the case. From a distance, they could see that every one of the dozen or so people was injured. Even Fan Shiming, at Integration Realm Tier Three, was now suffering from serious wounds.

Chu Fan, however, had no intention of helping. The reason was simple: a few days ago, while he was battling a giant ape across from Moon Cang Mountain, this very group had passed by. Not only did they fail to offer assistance, they even seemed to take pleasure in his predicament.

"The Celestial Dao Fruit is over there," Chu Fan said to Wei Mian, pointing in a specific direction. "I’ll lure away the Guardian Beast for you. You go and pick the fruit."

"Thank you, then."

"Don’t mention it." Chu Fan waved dismissively, then turned to Yan Ying. "Find some beasts to fight within a five-li radius. But for now, don’t go any further than that. Your Combat Power isn’t high enough yet."

"Alright!" Yan Ying agreed and shot into the air.

"You two can do as you please within a three-li radius," Chu Fan added, speaking to Long Yinwen and Ye Xiaohan.

Long Yinwen asked hesitantly, "Shouldn’t we go help them?"

"If you want to go, then you go. I’m certainly under no obligation," Chu Fan retorted before streaking off in the direction of the Celestial Dao Fruit, with Wei Mian close behind him.

The Celestial Dao Fruits grew on a single tree, which bore only fifty of them. The purplish-red fruits were shaped like discs, each about the size of a palm, with a pattern resembling a yin-yang symbol at its center.

The moment the two of them neared the fruit tree, a dozen or so monkey-like beasts leaped out at them.

Chu Fan leaped forward and, with a casual slash of his Juntian Sword, sent out a wave of Sword Qi to intercept them.

When they saw Wei Mian climbing the tree, they bared their fangs and instantly became enraged.

"Sorry, little guys, but you’ll revive in an hour anyway." Chu Fan smirked and unleashed one of his Sword Techniques, the Walking Dragon Sword Shadow.

With a single stroke of his sword, the dozen or so beasts were all decapitated.

By this point, Wei Mian had reached a Celestial Dao Fruit. He opened his mouth and bit directly into it.

The moment the Celestial Dao Fruit entered his mouth, it dissolved without needing to be chewed, transforming into two streams of light that surged into his body.

"AH—"

With a bloodcurdling scream, Wei Mian fell from the tree. He writhed helplessly on the ground, as if his body were being incinerated from the inside out.

His face alternated between flushed red and deathly pale.

Even Chu Fan, watching from the side, felt his skin crawl.

Still, it made sense. ’He was born with two souls,’ Chu Fan thought. ’The agony of forcing them to become one must be a pain that originates from the soul itself.’

It would be truly impossible to endure without immense fortitude.

Chu Fan stood by, only able to watch his agonizing struggle, completely powerless to help.

An hour passed, and the monkey-like beasts revived, immediately lunging toward Chu Fan.

With a single slash, they were once again decapitated.

These beasts all possessed the Combat Power of Integration Realm Tiers Two and Three, but in front of Chu Fan, they were ultimately still weak.

Chu Fan stood guard over Wei Mian. Of course, he also extended his Spiritual Power to keep an eye on the other three’s battles. If any of them encountered danger, he would be able to help at a moment’s notice.

Fortunately, Yan Ying and the other two were obedient enough not to arrogantly challenge beasts with far greater Combat Power than their own.

A full six hours passed before Wei Mian finally grew still.

Once the agony in his body faded, he sat down cross-legged on the ground.

His accumulation over the years was actually more than enough to break through the Divine Separation Realm bottleneck; it was only because of his twin souls that he could never take that final step.

Now, thanks to the Celestial Dao Fruit, his twin souls had merged. He could naturally break through the bottleneck in one fell swoop.

Three more hours passed, and Wei Mian stepped into the Integration Realm.

"Alright, your problem is solved," Chu Fan said with a nod. He then looked up in Ye Xiaohan’s direction and called out, "Ye Xiaohan, get over here."

Ye Xiaohan had been tied down by a number of beasts, but at Chu Fan’s call, he immediately flew over to join them.

"From now on, Xiaohan, you’ll stick with Wei Mian. You two can search for your own opportunities. I have other business to attend to with Long Yinwen. Whatever you can find in here will be up to you. Xiaohan’s cultivation is a bit low, after all. Wei Mian, you need to look out for him and keep him safe."

Both men agreed, and then they departed.

Meanwhile, Fan Shiming’s group was still battling the beasts, and their wounds had only multiplied.

’If I really don’t help them,’ he mused, ’these people will probably lose their lives here.’

Chu Fan grabbed his Juntian Sword and flew over. In less than half a quarter-hour, the beasts that had entangled them for more than nine hours were all slaughtered.

"You should all leave this valley," Chu Fan warned them. "The beasts in here are not something you can handle."

Faces flushing with embarrassment, the dozen or so people thanked Chu Fan.

After saving them, Chu Fan didn’t leave right away. Instead, he began to harvest in the valley.

’When one passes through a Treasure Mountain, one can’t possibly return empty-handed!’

’There are so many Spirit Medicines here. Even if I don’t recognize most of them, wouldn’t it be a shame not to pick some after coming all this way?’

’After I leave the Secret Realm, I definitely have to visit Yun Xi in the Bamboo Sea. These Spirit Medicines will probably be of great use to her!’

Fan Shiming and his group left, while Yan Ying and Long Yinwen were still locked in battle with beasts.

Chu Fan, meanwhile, was excitedly harvesting Spirit Medicines.

He would pluck a stalk and toss it into the Jun Tianjian World, happily absorbed in his task.

’Yan Ying needs to fight to stabilize her Realm, so I might as well let her have a proper battle. As for Long Yinwen... who cares. If I don’t give him something to do, who knows what kind of mischief that kid will get into?’

While he harvested the Spirit Medicines, beasts would occasionally come to bother him, but he would dispatch them with a simple slash of his Juntian Sword before continuing to gather herbs.

He spent three full days and nights harvesting in the valley. Inside the Jun Tianjian World, on the small peak he used for storage, a pile of Spirit Medicines over thirty feet high had accumulated before he finally stopped.

’This should be enough medicine to last Yun Xi for a very long time, right?’
