Chapter 150: Chapter 103: True Blood Layer 4

Inside Xuanzhen Temple, in Jiang Ningzhi’s bedroom.

Jiang Ningzhi stroked the White Rainbow Sword, which was as good as new. The corners of her eyes were slightly red. "Thank you so much, Ling’Er, Yin Sheng," she said softly. "Ling’Er, I’ve made you spend a fortune again."

"What’s there to thank me for? We’re best friends; it’s only right!" Shangguan Ling’Er hugged Jiang Ningzhi, grinning. "Besides, I didn’t spend any money this time."

"However, the Six Interpretations of Life and Death that helped Fellow Daoist Yanyu restore his lifespan was given to me by Miss Shangguan," Li Yinsheng said with a smile, sitting at the desk. "At the end of the day, I still owe Miss Shangguan a favor."

"I owe Ling’Er more and more," Jiang Ningzhi said with a nod. She looked at Shangguan Ling’Er with a hint of regret on her face. "If I had known, I would have gone easier on you when we sparred in the past..."

"COUGH COUGH COUGH!" Shangguan Ling’Er covered her mouth and coughed loudly.

Li Yinsheng picked up a cup of tea and sipped it slowly, using the teacup to hide the upturned corners of his mouth.

Jiang Ningzhi’s gaze lingered on the wrist Li Yinsheng was using to hold the teacup. There was a rather exquisite-looking bracelet on it, but it was merely an Inferior Magical Artifact.

"Yin Sheng? Why are you wearing an Inferior Magical Artifact?" Jiang Ningzhi asked.

Li Yinsheng put down his teacup. "It’s from Xiaoyu. She gave it to me after she learned how to refine Magical Artifacts."

After returning, he and Shangguan Ling’Er had already given their Martial Uncle a rough summary of what had happened at Zulu Temple and Cangfeng Temple, which naturally included Xiaoyu learning Artifact Refining. Their Martial Uncle also approved of letting Xiaoyu Minor in Artifact Refining. However, when he recounted the events, he had only given a brief overview and hadn’t mentioned the bracelet. He only said that Xiaoyu could already refine Inferior Magical Artifacts on her own.

"The bracelet she gave you..." Jiang Ningzhi’s eyes flickered. "It’s quite pretty. It matches your Magical Robe well, don’t you think?"

"Thank you, Martial Uncle. I also think it matches well," Li Yinsheng nodded, casually agreeing. In truth, he had never had an eye for jewelry or clothing, but since his Martial Uncle said they matched, there was no need to contradict her. He wasn’t the argumentative type anyway.

Hearing Li Yinsheng’s words, Jiang Ningzhi’s gaze flickered even more, though she remained silent.

"Huh? Is Junior Sister here?" Li Yinsheng’s Divine Sense detected that Mu Xiaoyu was heading this way, having just finished her cultivation for the day.

He wondered, "Today’s Cultivation Fruit has already been distributed to her, so what is she doing here? After finishing her cultivation, she should be practicing her sword and then practicing Artifact Refining. Could she be looking for an excuse to slack off?"

A moment later, Mu Xiaoyu arrived at the door and was called in by Li Yinsheng.

"Junior Sister, is something the matter?" Li Yinsheng asked.

"Senior Brother... I..." Mu Xiaoyu gripped the hem of her clothes with both hands, looking somewhat bashful.

Jiang Ningzhi’s gaze fell on Mu Xiaoyu’s wrist. There was a bracelet very similar to the one on Li Yinsheng’s wrist, only the colors were reversed. Her eyes immediately narrowed into a sharp glare as she looked at Mu Xiaoyu. "Xiaoyu? Where did you get that bracelet?"

"Martial Uncle," Mu Xiaoyu giggled, a hint of pride showing on her face. "I refined it myself."

"You refined it yourself..." she nodded slightly. "Both yours and your senior brother’s?"

"Yes!" Mu Xiaoyu nodded.

"It’s a very beautiful bracelet." Jiang Ningzhi suddenly broke into a smile. "Could you refine a similar one for me as well?"

Before Mu Xiaoyu could speak, Li Yinsheng asked in confusion, "Martial Uncle? What do you need an Inferior Magical Artifact for?"

Jiang Ningzhi’s eyes shifted slightly. "Because the bracelet Xiaoyu made is very pretty," she chuckled softly. "Yin Sheng, I’m a woman too. Isn’t it perfectly normal for a woman to like beautiful bracelets?" She looked at Li Yinsheng with a beaming smile.

Hearing that her Martial Uncle also thought her bracelet was pretty, Mu Xiaoyu’s eyes immediately lit up. She nodded repeatedly in agreement. "Yes! Someone as beautiful as you, Martial Uncle, should wear a beautiful bracelet! I’ll make it for you tonight, Martial Uncle. It’ll be ready by tomorrow!"

When they left Zulu Temple, Daoist Yanyu had given her plenty of materials to practice Artifact Refining, so she could start refining at any time.

She resolved in her heart, "Since Martial Uncle likes my bracelet so much, I’ll refine it and give it to her tomorrow, even if it means sleeping an hour less tonight!"

"Wait!" Shangguan Ling’Er chimed in. "I want one too!"

Jiang Ningzhi turned to look at Shangguan Ling’Er almost the instant she spoke. Tilting her head slightly, her tone was breezy as she asked, "Ling’Er, you shouldn’t be lacking in jewelry. Why do you want one as well?"

"I... I..." Shangguan Ling’Er’s face stiffened for a second before she smoothly replied without a change in expression. "The three of you all have one, so how can I be left out?"

"That’s right!" Mu Xiaoyu nodded. "If we all have one, Shangguan should have one too. I’ll refine one for Shangguan tomorrow as well!"

Jiang Ningzhi’s eyes widened abruptly as her voice spiked in pitch. "What did you call her? Shangguan?!"

Startled, Mu Xiaoyu nodded in a slight daze. "Um... At Zulu Temple, Shangguan called me Yu, so I addressed Elder Shangguan as... Shangguan..."

"How old are you, what’s your Cultivation, and what’s your seniority? And you call Xiaoyu your little sister?!" Jiang Ningzhi reached out to pinch Shangguan Ling’Er’s cheeks. "Have you no shame!"

"Um nod dat old..." Shangguan Ling’Er mumbled indistinctly, her cheeks being pinched. "Anyway, I’m younger dan you... Mmph..."

"Shut up!" Jiang Ningzhi shouted, pinching down as hard as she could.

However, with Jiang Ningzhi’s current physical condition, Shangguan Ling’Er felt no pain whatsoever; in fact, she even wanted to laugh.

Jiang Ningzhi swore that if the day ever came when her Cultivation was restored, she would absolutely pinch this girl’s cheeks until they swelled up!

Li Yinsheng ignored the two elders’ roughhousing. During the three months Shangguan Ling’Er had stayed at Xuanzhen Temple previously, the two of them would bicker and roughhouse every few days. This also made Li Yinsheng realize that, mentally speaking, his Martial Uncle was indeed still very young. It was just that because of the difference in their seniority, she hadn’t acted so lively around him before.
