Chapter 102: Chapter 66: Little Junior Sister’s Body Refining Plan

On Bamboo Forest Peak, within the Shouyi Temple encampment, Li Yinsheng swept his Divine Sense back and forth across the peak.

After his Divine Sense underwent a qualitative transformation, he could feel that something was off about this mountain, yet he couldn’t pinpoint exactly what it was.

Of course, if he were to initiate Soul Emergence, his Divine Sense would become even sharper, and he would definitely uncover more clues.

However, Qi and Vice Temple Master Liang from Huang Bamboo Temple were currently rushing toward the Shouyi Temple encampment. It was clearly not a good time to investigate via Soul Emergence. He decided it would be better to wait until he had dealt with the Shouyi Temple situation and returned to his own room.

Li Yinsheng walked into the Bamboo House whose roof he had just blown off. He sat down in the chair previously occupied by the Vice Temple Master and raised his hand, pointing from afar at the Magic Lamp in the center of the room. The lamp immediately flared with brilliant light.

"Don’t just stand there, come have a seat," Li Yinsheng called out to Mu Xiaoyu. "The Fellow Daoists from Huang Bamboo Temple will be here soon. Let’s sit and wait."

"Okay!"

Mu Xiaoyu sat down on the bamboo chair beside Li Yinsheng. She took out two pieces of Deer Cake from her Qiankun Bag, but just as she was about to hand one to her senior brother, she froze.

The night had been dark earlier, and she hadn’t extended her Divine Sense, so her vision hadn’t been very clear. Now that Li Yinsheng had lit the Magic Lamp, the radiant light made their surroundings almost as bright as day. Looking at her senior brother, a sudden realization hit her.

"Has Senior Brother gotten better looking?" she wondered.

She knew he had always been handsome, but looking at him now, even though his facial features hadn’t changed, his skin seemed to have gotten much better.

Mu Xiaoyu stared intently at Li Yinsheng’s face. Her gaze shifted from his forehead down to the bridge of his nose, then over to his cheeks, and further down to his lips and chin... She couldn’t see a single flaw.

Mu Xiaoyu was completely filled with envy. "Senior Brother’s skin is so much better than mine..."

"What are you looking at?" Li Yinsheng asked.

Startled out of her immersive observation, Mu Xiaoyu hurriedly handed over the Deer Cake. "Here you go, Senior Brother!"

Li Yinsheng didn’t stand on ceremony. He took the Deer Cake and took a bite.

"Senior Brother," Mu Xiaoyu asked with a hint of uncertainty, "did your skin get better?"

"You noticed?" Li Yinsheng didn’t intend to hide it. "My Cultivation Technique had a breakthrough. You could say this is just a trivial little benefit of that breakthrough."

Mu Xiaoyu’s eyes lit up. "Is it the effect of the Qingxuan Scripture? Which level achieves this?"

Earlier, she had merely been a bit envious of him but hadn’t thought much of it; after all, one’s looks were innate and couldn’t be forced. But now, hearing that mastering a Cultivation Technique could yield such results, her interest was instantly piqued.

"It’s not the Qingxuan Scripture. It’s a different Cultivation Technique," Li Yinsheng said, shaking his head.

"Huh?" Mu Xiaoyu was immediately disappointed. "Then why didn’t you let me practice that Cultivation Technique, Senior Brother?

"If I had known there was a Cultivation Technique that could make people prettier, I wouldn’t have practiced the Qingxuan Scripture. It’s exhausting, and it doesn’t even make you look better..." she grumbled, curling her lips.

"If you want to learn it, Junior Sister, I can teach you now," Li Yinsheng chuckled. "This Cultivation Technique is called the True Blood Secret Scripture. It’s a Body Refining Technique."

"Refining Body?" Mu Xiaoyu grew instantly alert. "Is this Cultivation Technique tiring?"

"Um..."

That question stumped Li Yinsheng a bit.

Strictly speaking, practicing the True Blood Secret Scripture—a Cultivation Technique focused primarily on Blood Refining—wasn’t particularly tiring. It was just painful.

His method for tempering his Qi Blood utilized the C Fire Qi within the Blood Refining Core. Whenever he cultivated, it felt like a raging inferno was burning his body—an agonizing, unbearable heat. However, the Blood Refining Core would be useless to his junior sister.

This item was an Auxiliary Magical Artifact with extreme advantages and flaws alike. If it weren’t for the fact that cultivating in the Grotto Heaven consumed no Heart and Spirit, this artifact wouldn’t just be a short-lived consumable—it would also drag down a person’s normal cultivation. Its detriments would far outweigh its benefits.

When normal Cultivators practiced Refining Body as a Minor, it could indeed supplement their combat prowess a little, but it was incredibly difficult to reach a profound level. It simply wasn’t very cost-effective. Therefore, he had never considered having his junior sister practice the True Blood Secret Scripture.

But now that Mu Xiaoyu had brought it up herself, Li Yinsheng suddenly remembered something. While practicing the True Blood Secret Scripture was normally a slow process, there was actually a shortcut for rapid success. It simply required the aid of a Body Tempering Elixir on the level of Heavenly and Earthly Treasures.

He had known this ever since he first discovered the True Blood Secret Scripture. Ordinary medicinal ingredients were useless for supplementing the technique, but Heavenly and Earthly Treasures were still effective. Moreover, using Heavenly and Earthly Treasures for rapid success had no side effects—aside from the fact that cultivating too quickly would condense and stack the pain of Tempering Body all at once.

There was no difference in quality between mastering the True Blood Secret Scripture on one’s own versus mastering it with the aid of Spirit Medicines.

At the time, he hadn’t cared about this at all. He had simply planned to rely on the Grotto Heaven and the Blood Refining Core to slowly grind away at the True Blood Secret Scripture. But for his current self, Heavenly and Earthly Treasures with Tempering Body effects—though still incredibly precious—didn’t seem entirely out of reach anymore.

If he ever had the chance to obtain Tempering Body Heavenly and Earthly Treasures in the future, he really could let his junior sister practice the True Blood Secret Scripture as a Minor. It truly was an excellent Cultivation Technique. If he could find a Body Tempering Elixir before the Lesser Yang Dao Examination and allow his junior sister to build a decent foundation in the True Blood Secret Scripture, wouldn’t her chances of securing a B Class or even an A Class grade be much higher?

At that thought, Li Yinsheng’s eyes lit up.

Facing the highly alert Mu Xiaoyu, Li Yinsheng offered a gentle smile. "The True Blood Secret Scripture isn’t considered tiring to practice. It’s just that normal cultivation is very slow. It requires the aid of Heavenly and Earthly Treasures to master it quickly."

"Oh..." Mu Xiaoyu looked a bit disappointed.

"However, if you have the drive to progress, Junior Sister, I can keep an eye out for Heavenly and Earthly Treasures with Tempering Body effects for you," Li Yinsheng smiled. "Once I find them, you can practice the True Blood Secret Scripture."

Mu Xiaoyu’s eyes sparkled. "You’re the best, Senior Brother!"

"But practicing a Body Refining Technique will inevitably come with some pain," Li Yinsheng reminded her. "You need to be mentally prepared for it."

Mu Xiaoyu only hesitated for a moment before gritting her teeth and nodding. "I’m not afraid, Senior Brother!"

"You’re really not afraid?" Li Yinsheng was somewhat surprised.

"Are you still the lazy, gluttonous, and cunning little junior sister I know?" he wondered.

"I’ve already endured the pain of Washing Marrow and Cleansing Veins anyway. If suffering for a little while means I can become prettier..." Mu Xiaoyu took a deep breath, her face full of determination. "I can endure it!"

Mu Xiaoyu made her petty little calculations in her heart. "No matter how painful it gets, it shouldn’t be worse than Washing Marrow and Cleansing Veins, right? Besides, Senior Brother isn’t old, yet he has already practiced the True Blood Secret Scripture to the point where it improved his looks. This proves that the Cultivation Technique shouldn’t be too hard to practice. At worst, once I practice it enough to get prettier, I’ll just give up on the rest of the cultivation."

Meanwhile, from the directions of the mountainside and the peak, Qi Jiushan and Vice Temple Master Liang arrived almost simultaneously, descending from the sky.

Upon seeing the miserable state of the Shouyi Temple group below—who had been nearly wiped out entirely—the two descending men, as well as the female stall owner brought by Qi Jiushan, were all left dumbfounded.

It wasn’t until a lucky Shouyi Temple disciple, who hadn’t been completely knocked out by the electricity, let out a muffled groan of pain that Vice Temple Master Liang was jolted back to reality.

"L-L-Li... This... This is..."

A flash of amazement and vindication flickered through Vice Temple Master Liang’s eyes.

He had just discovered through the Array monitoring the mountain’s activity that a battle seemed to have broken out at the Shouyi Temple encampment, so he had rushed over immediately. At the time, he had suspected that Li Yinsheng and Shouyi Temple might have clashed. After all, out of everyone present, only Li Yinsheng had previously had a conflict with that Shouyi Temple Steward.

To prevent Li Yinsheng from suffering too great a loss, he had pushed his Magical Artifact to its absolute limit on his way here, not daring to pause for even a moment. Never did he expect to be greeted by such a scene upon his arrival.

Li Yinsheng and Mu Xiaoyu were standing there completely unscathed. Conversely, nearly all the Cultivators in the Shouyi Temple encampment were trapped in a net-like Magical Artifact, charred black from electric shocks.

While marveling at the formidable youthful prowess before him, he also felt quite a bit of satisfaction. This gang from Shouyi Temple had been running rampant everywhere. They had finally hit a brick wall and gotten their rightful retribution.

But that satisfaction was quickly followed by a headache.

With such a massive incident having occurred, how on earth was he supposed to explain this to Shouyi Temple?

"Liang," Li Yinsheng stood up and explained. "These people from Shouyi Temple were deliberately targeting and bullying my Xuanzhen Temple’s Steward. They pushed things too far. Out of momentary anger, I stepped in to teach them a lesson."

"That’s right!" Qi Jiushan also snapped back to his senses, pulling the female stall owner beside him forward. "Senior Brother, Martial Niece Yunqin just reported to me. It was indeed Shouyi Temple who provoked them first!"

The female stall owner nodded timidly. "Many of the disciples around us and I all heard the people from Shouyi Temple say that they were instructed by their temple to cause trouble for Xuanzhen Temple."

"This..." Vice Temple Master Liang’s face filled with distress. "I know Shouyi Temple’s overbearing conduct all too well. I naturally understand that the fault definitely does not lie with Li.

"But Shouyi Temple has always been tyrannical. I fear they will not let this matter rest." Vice Temple Master Liang shook his head repeatedly.

A Vice Temple Master, a Steward, and numerous disciples had all been captured in one fell swoop. Forget the notoriously tyrannical Shouyi Temple—even a low-ranking, small Daoist Temple like Yellow Crane Temple wouldn’t be able to just pretend nothing had happened, would they?
