Journey Towards Greatness

Chapter 1028 - Ramos And Training

As Julian looked into the Coumarine gym, he found out that the gym is actually located on top of the massive tree that can be seen from anywhere in the city, even while entering the city, Julian noticed the massive tree inside the city and was captivated by it.

He had never expected the massive tree to be the gym itself, he looked more into it and found out that the gym leader of this gym is an old man named Ramos.

Julian started to look into Ramos and find out more about this old man, he soon found many videos of Ramos battling but they were quite old and in these videos, he was quite young, he then dug up some information about Ramos and found out that Ramos retired stopped participating in league battles after finally winning one, no one knows what happened after he won the league.

Some people say he defeated the then champion of Kalos after defeating the elite four while others said that he couldn't get past the first elite four-member, the only thing everyone knows is that after a few weeks from winning the league championship Ramos announced his retirement as a pokemon trainer.

The league then gave Ramos an offer of becoming a gym leader and he excepted it, becoming the gym leader of Coumarine city's gym.

Now Julian was also curious about what happened after Ramos won the league championship, there should have been an official record if he had won or lost against the elite four or the champion of that time but there is no information about it on the internet.

After looking into Ramos's history, he started to look into the current Ramos, the old trainer, he soon found out that Ramos only uses three pokemons during a gym challenge, they might not be the same pokemon but they seem to be of the same species.

The three pokemon that he uses are Jumpluff, Weepinbell, and Gogoat, after looking at the choice of pokemon Ramos uses, Julian was indifferent to it, these pokemons didn't stand out amongst all the power grass type pokemons that are out there but that doesn't mean Julian underestimates Ramos and his pokemon.

Since Ramos is a veteran in his field, Julian knows the battle he is going to have will be a tough one, Julian then looked into the specific pokemons he might be facing during his battle.

Like every other gym leader, Ramos had several pokemons of different levels for different trainers according to how strong or how many badges they have.

With Julian having three badges with him right now he expects to battle pokemons around level 30 to 35 and Julian is prepared for it.

His pokemons are ready but a little training before the battle is never a bad idea, after looking through his own team Julian decided to use Clauncher and Honedge for this battle, Honedge is few levels away from evolving while Clauncher still has a little more catching up to do.

As for Porygon, Julian has no idea how to evolve it or if there is any evolution stage for it, Julian will have to figure it out somehow, when it comes to Floette he plans to train her a little more and make her perfect her energy control and control over her own moves before evolving here because she just needs a shiny stone to evolve into her final form.

Skrelp will be the only one who will have to wait for a long because he will evolve at a very late stage but Julian didn't worry about Skrelp, when he reaches around the level he will be evolving, he would have already perfected everything there is to perfect.

This is one benefit pokemons who evolve very late in their life have, they have a lot more time perfecting their craft, while pokemons who evolve very early in their life can't reach their full potential because they haven't fully mastered their own energy.

That is why Julian always makes sure to train his pokemons the right way, it's better the train them about using their power than leveling up them faster and hold up on their evolution till they reach that stage, this is where most trainers come short.

They rush leveling up their pokemons than training them properly, and even if they do train them properly, they lose patients seeing how other trainer's pokemons are becoming stronger at a very fast rate.

And when these pokemons evolve, they are not the best compared to the ones who were properly trained and held back on their evolution.

With everything figured out, Julian walked out of the hotel and went to the nearest forest area to train, he mainly focused on Clauncher and Honedge, this will be a real test for Clauncher as he will be facing against pokemons he will have a weakness to and they will also be resistant to his water type attacks.

He will have to work harder, luckily for Julian, he didn't have to push Clauncher into working hard, with how swiftly Honedge grew stronger every day, Clauncher just felt more motivated to train harder and catch up to him.

When it comes to Honedge, even Julian is surprised, he realized that he really struck gold when it came to Honedge, he was just able to catch up to Julian's training very easily and master everything Julian thought to him after working on it for a little while.

Honedge was born to battle and Julian has found the perfect ace for his Kalos team.
