Journey to Planar World

Chapter 580 - 580: Not One, But Two!

  • Next Chapter

Even though his Arcanum failed to function for a reason he could not fathom in the slightest, Dionysus remained stubborn and refused the reality that Charlie was capable of giving him true death.

Seeing the expression of the young man before him remaining so serene, calm, and utterly unfazed, Dionysus finally lost all remaining control over his emotions.

"Don't mock me, human...!" Dionysus wailed, his eyes glaring and the veins in his neck bulging.

"Don't act like a god before me!!!"

SWOOSH!

Right after that final screaming rage, the wave of Annihilation power went into full effect.

Dionysus's mortal body along with his divine essence instantly decomposed into countless grains of dust, drifting briefly in the air before finally vanishing without leaving a single trace behind.

"It is over." Charlie whispered softly as he lowered the Sacred Sword Severian.

There was no excessive joy or satisfaction on his face.

Within the span of just a single day, the achievement he had managed to carve out was something entirely impossible to be replicated or matched by anyone—whether in the past, present, or future.

Be it eliminating the One-Eyed Black Dragon, which had been the greatest threat to the entire world for nine hundred years, or executing a god to the point of erasing their very existence, both acts would practically become the greatest legends for future generations if made known to the public.

Unfortunately, Charlie had no intention whatsoever of leaving his name in history books as the heroes of old had done.

"Is that god... truly dead now, Onii-chan?"

Est's voice echoed softly inside Charlie's mind, shattering the silence of Knossos.

"Yeah. Dionysus is completely dead." Charlie answered within his thoughts. "His existence has been thoroughly erased by the Divine Authority of the Dragon King. There is no longer any possibility of rising again, restoring his soul, or entering the cycle of reincarnation. He has vanished entirely into nothingness."

Through the Hundred Gauntlets used to trace the threads of causality, Charlie confirmed that the traces of Dionysus's existence had been flawlessly erased.

"That god truly deserved to die... How dare he scheme such an evil conspiracy to harm Onii-chan."

Charlie curled his lips into a smile upon hearing Est expressing anger on his behalf.

"Alright. Let's go home now, Est. Mahiru must already be waiting for you and me at home."

With Dionysus's vanishing into nothingness, the major threat and the main mastermind who was supposed to be a disaster in the Sword Oratorio storyline was now entirely eliminated—exiting the stage before even making an appearance.

◆━⊰✿✧✿⊱━◆

Night arrived at Empyrean Citadel. All the occupants of the residence appeared to gather fully inside the house.

In the kitchen, a delicious, mouth-watering aroma of food began to drift high into the air.

Mahiru and Kei could be seen working together with great synchronization to prepare dinner. After all, they had to cook quite a large portion for six people.

Meanwhile, in the living room, Charlie sat relaxed on the sofa while gently stroking the silver hair of Est, who was lying comfortably on his lap.

To his left, Aishia leaned limply against the sofa cushion with a listless expression, waiting for the food to finish cooking.

On the sofa across from them, Astraea appeared elegant as she slowly sipped her warm tea.

"Goddess Astraea... Did you feel anything strange or unusual today?" Charlie asked casually, starting a conversation while gazing at the Goddess of Justice.

Astraea tilted her head slightly, giving her full attention to Charlie.

"Unusual...? What kind of anomaly do you mean, Charlie?"

Charlie stroked the back of his neck gently. "Hmm, I'm also confused as to how to describe it accurately. Basically... a strange feeling or sensation that perhaps the other gods might have felt at the same time."

Astraea slowly lowered her teacup, placing it back on top of the table. She tapped her chin with her index finger, attempting to recall or feel through her divine sensor, before finally shaking her head softly.

"No, such a thing didn't happen at all today." Astraea said with a charming smile. "Everything felt perfectly normal as usual."

"I see... That's good then. I'm glad to hear it." Charlie replied while smiling faintly.

(So Dionysus's true death didn't trigger any warning or alarm for the other gods, huh...)

(Then again, thinking back on it, this makes complete sense.)

(Never in the wild dreams of any god could they experience true death in the Lower World—a place they had only ever considered a mere entertainment stage. Because of that, they never bothered to create a warning mechanism for the erasure of a god's existence.)

Beside him, Aishia, who seemed bored, suddenly reached out her hand, grasping Charlie's fingers tightly.

Without needing to utter a single word through her lips, Aishia's gesture and gaze clearly conveyed a message telling Charlie that he didn't need to be overly paranoid.

As Charlie's literal soulmate, how could Aishia not realize what had transpired?

Besides, Aishia knew full well that the main reason Charlie had suddenly gone to Knossos and executed Dionysus today was deeply connected to her.

That day, when Kei and Aishia were on their way back to the surface, their path was blocked on the 42nd Floor by the appearance of Charlie's 'old enemy'.

Revis.

Aishia was a Spirit—classified even as a High-Ranking Spirit.

Revis, who possessed an extraordinary and unhealthy obsession with Spirits, obviously couldn't ignore Aishia's existence when they crossed paths in the Dungeon.

Thus, a fierce clash broke out between them inevitably.

Unfortunately for Revis, she had severely overestimated her own capacity.

Even though her power had skyrocketed drastically to match a Level 6 adventurer as a result of continuously consuming magic stones, the enemy she faced this time was by no means a weak opponent.

Under the combined teamwork of Kei and Aishia, Revis ultimately died tragically at the hands of those two girls.

Immediately after the battle ended, Aishia directly reported the news of Revis's death to Charlie via telepathy.

Hearing that report, Charlie—who had actually completely forgotten about Revis's existence because he considered her entirely irrelevant—decided to solve this issue down to its very roots.

By utilizing the Hundred Gauntlets to trace causality and Senrigan to monitor all of the present, Charlie easily identified and mapped out every faction and individual involved with and allied to Revis.

After that, it became a very busy day for Charlie. With the Sacred Sword Severian held in his hand, he moved from one place to another, initiating a large-scale slaughter without mercy.

The former ruthless Level 5 adventurer from Orario's dark era—the figure fully responsible for the bloody massacre tragedy on the 27th Floor of the Dungeon—Olivas Act.

The radical god-hating group that frequently disrupted and terrorized Orario using suicide magic bombs and lethal traps—the Evilus Terrorist Organization along with all remaining members of the Thanatos Familia.

All the way to the ancient monster in the form of a giant spirit clone residing in and controlling the 59th and 60th floors of the Dungeon—the creature that served as the source of the Creature faction's birth and produced plant-spore hybrid monsters—the Corrupted Spirit.

Except for the Corrupted Spirit, which was handed over to Kei and Aishia to deal with, every remaining target was wiped out to the roots by Charlie alone, not excluding God Thanatos!

In other words, in such a short period of time, Charlie had no longer slaughtered just one god... but two gods at once!

And this truth remained a secret known only to Charlie and his two spirit girls.

In any case, Charlie was well aware that at present he was not fully prepared to start an open conflict with the entire lineup of gods—whether those in Heaven or those residing in the Lower World.

Keeping everything concealed behind the scenes was the best choice for now.

"Everyone, the food is ready!"

Mahiru's gentle voice suddenly echoed from the direction of the kitchen, breaking the reverie and heavy atmosphere in the living room.

Not long after, Kei followed her out carrying a large bowl of soup whose aroma instantly filled the entire room.

"Come on, gather quickly at the dining table before the food gets cold!" Kei called out while arranging plates on top of the table.

Aishia, who had been leaning listlessly on the sofa, instantly straightened her body, her eyes glowing brightly as soon as she smelled the mouth-watering aroma of the food.

"My, it smells wonderful... I've been hungry for a while now."

Astraea smiled gracefully as she set down her teacup, then slowly stood up. "Thank you for your hard work, both of you, Mahiru, Kei."

Charlie curled his lips into a subtle smile, sweeping away the remaining thoughts in his head. He gently patted the shoulder of Est, who was still lying relaxed in his lap.

"Come on, Est. Time for dinner."

Est sat herself up, rubbed her eyes gently, and nodded obediently.

"Okay, Onii-chan."

With smiles and soft laughter beginning to be heard in the dining room, they all sat around the table.

For a moment, Charlie allowed all the complexities of the outside world to be forgotten, enjoying the simple peace in the midst of their home.
