Journey to Become the Zenith
Chapter 495: The Fourth Hero Takes Control [Part 2]
The Fourth Hero Takes Control [Part 2]
Evelyne stared in disbelief.
Her fingers tightened around the sword in her hand.
"That..."
She couldn’t finish the sentence.
She had seen strange things during her life.
She had witnessed powerful cultivators survive injuries that should have killed ordinary people.
But seeing a severed limb simply placed back onto a body and reconnect itself was another matter entirely.
Evelyne’s expression became tense.
Fean slowly flexed his newly restored fingers.
One.
Two.
Three.
The hand moved perfectly.
There was no stiffness.
No hesitation.
No trace that the arm had ever been separated.
The sight sent a chill through Evelyne’s body.
How could something like this exist?
Her eyes shifted toward Victor.
Or rather, toward the man now standing in Victor’s body.
He hadn’t reacted.
His golden eyes remained fixed on Fean.
But unlike Evelyne, Eddy wasn’t surprised.
He had already expected something like this.
Diana, on the other hand, already knew that would happen.
She stood quietly nearby, her long black hair falling around her shoulders, her red eyes watching Fean with a grim understanding.
There was no shock in her expression.
She had seen this kind of phenomenon before.
The seed of the Universal Emperor was not something that could be judged by ordinary standards.
A normal person’s severed arm was simply a severed arm.
For a creature connected to that terrifying existence, physical destruction could mean very little.
The atmosphere inside the cave became heavier.
Dust slowly settled around them.
The broken walls groaned under their own weight.
Blood continued dripping onto the stone floor.
And between the ruined battlefield stood Victor’s battered body, now controlled by Eddy, facing an enemy that had just restored its severed limb as if death itself were nothing more than a temporary inconvenience.
Neither side moved.
For one brief moment, the cave became unnaturally silent.
Back in the final battle against the agent of the Universal Emperor that also had a seed of the Universal Emperor, Diana had seen the agent regenerate any body part that was cut off.
Even beheading him didn’t work.
For as long as he had mana, he could regrow any body part.
That memory had remained deeply etched within Diana.
She could still remember the battlefield from that distant time—the overwhelming pressure filling the heavens, the countless attacks tearing through flesh, and the horrifying sight of a body that simply refused to remain damaged.
A severed arm was nothing.
A destroyed leg was nothing.
Even a head separated from the body could not guarantee victory.
As long as that terrifying existence possessed enough mana, the missing flesh would return.
The regeneration had been almost absurd.
That was why, when Fean picked up his severed arm and placed it against his shoulder, Diana wasn’t surprised.
However, after watching carefully, she noticed an important difference.
"This one is weaker..."
Her red eyes narrowed slightly.
The Fean before them possessed a similar ability, but it clearly wasn’t at the same level as the agent they had fought in the past.
The previous enemy could regenerate his body directly.
There was no need to retrieve anything.
If an arm was cut away, a new arm would grow.
If a leg was destroyed, another would emerge.
Even after losing his head, his body could produce another one.
But Fean couldn’t do that.
He needed the severed body part.
He had to retrieve it first.
Then he needed to place it back where it belonged.
Only afterward would the strange power of the seed reconnect the flesh.
That difference might appear insignificant.
It wasn’t.
To someone like Diana, who had witnessed the true power of a seed of the Universal Emperor before, the distinction was enormous.
The regeneration Fean possessed was merely a weaker version of that terrifying ability.
Still, weaker did not mean harmless.
Diana’s gaze shifted toward Victor.
Something else had changed.
Not his body.
Not his appearance.
His demeanor.
It was subtle.
So subtle that almost anyone else would have missed it.
Victor still had the same black hair, the same golden eyes, and the same handsome face marked by the injuries of battle. His body was still covered in wounds, and blood continued to stain his clothes.
But the person looking through those golden eyes was different.
Diana had always watched Victor.
She had seen his expressions when he was angry.
She had seen him smile when he found something amusing.
She had watched him become serious.
She knew the slight changes in his posture and the small differences in the way he looked at his opponents.
Therefore, even though the change was incredibly small, Diana noticed it immediately.
The man standing before Fean was no longer Victor.
Her fingers tightened slightly.
She didn’t need to ask.
She already knew the answer.
"One of his incarnations..."
The thought passed through her mind.
Victor’s body had lost consciousness after the battle pushed him beyond his physical limits.
And now someone else had taken control.
It had to be one of Victor’s many incarnations.
Diana remained silent.
She didn’t interfere.
If this incarnation had taken control, there was clearly a reason.
Her eyes returned to Fean.
The atmosphere around them grew heavier.
Fean had finished reattaching his arm.
His fingers moved once.
Then twice.
The joints rotated smoothly.
The arm was completely functional.
Diana wasn’t surprised.
But Evelyne was.
She stared at Fean’s restored arm with disbelief written plainly across her face.
The sight was almost impossible to accept.
A moment ago, that arm had been lying on the ground.
Now it was attached as though nothing had happened.
