Journey to Become the Zenith
Chapter 479: The End of the Valier Matter [Part 2]
The End of the Valier Matter [Part 2]
Cedric turned away.
"Let’s go."
The Valier soldiers immediately moved behind him.
Not one of them dared to say another word.
They quickly gathered around Simon and carried him away from the scene. Their footsteps echoed along the street as they hurried after Cedric.
Nobody looked back.
Victor watched them leave for only a moment.
Then he lost interest.
There was nothing more worth his attention.
The Valier family soon disappeared down the street.
Silence settled over the area again.
But it was different this time.
Now, the only ones left were the Elmharts.
The atmosphere changed almost immediately.
Kite slowly raised his head.
His body remained tense.
He could feel Victor’s presence even without looking directly at him. That pressure alone was enough to make his breathing heavier.
For the first time, Kite seemed to understand just how badly the situation had turned against him.
A short distance away, Evelyne stood quietly.
The breeze moved through her long black-green hair, sending a few strands across her face.
She didn’t bother brushing them away.
Her purple eyes remained calm as she looked toward the members of her family.
She was the head of the Elmhart family.
And whatever happened next was her responsibility.
Victor’s gaze shifted toward her.
His expression relaxed slightly.
He had no interest in standing here all night and dealing with every problem inside the Elmhart family himself.
That wasn’t his responsibility.
Evelyne was their head.
If the family had internal problems, she would deal with them.
Victor spoke calmly.
"You deal with your family issues."
His eyes hardened slightly.
"As for the one who tried to have Clara’s family killed, bring that person to me once you’re done."
Evelyne’s eyes narrowed the instant she heard Clara’s name.
She understood.
There were still matters within the family that had not been settled.
Kite wasn’t the only problem.
Someone else had crossed an even more serious line.
Someone had deliberately tried to have Clara’s entire family killed.
And that person was still somewhere within the Elmhart family.
Evelyne’s expression remained composed, but a faint sharpness appeared in her eyes.
She already had a few possibilities in mind.
Victor, however, had no intention of involving himself in every internal dispute.
That was Evelyne’s burden.
She was the head of the family.
She would have to uncover the truth herself.
But the matter concerning Clara was different.
Whoever had attempted to eliminate Clara’s family had crossed a line Victor cared about.
He wanted that person brought before him.
Evelyne lowered her head respectfully.
"As you wish, Master."
Victor gave a small nod.
"Don’t disappoint me."
The words were simple.
His voice wasn’t raised.
He didn’t need to raise it.
Evelyne slowly lifted her head.
A faint determination had appeared in her purple eyes.
"I won’t."
Victor looked at her for a moment.
Then his expression softened slightly.
"I know."
The brief exchange made Kite’s heart sink even further.
He had finally understood something.
Evelyne wasn’t simply following Victor because she feared him.
She trusted him.
And Victor trusted her enough to leave the Elmhart family’s internal problems in her hands.
That trust was something Kite had never expected to witness.
Victor turned toward Diana.
The scythe spirit was standing quietly nearby, her long black hair flowing behind her.
Her red eyes remained calm.
She didn’t need to ask whether they were leaving.
She already knew.
Victor took one final glance around the street.
The confrontation was over.
There was nothing else worth staying for.
"Come on, Diana."
Diana silently followed him.
Victor and Diana began walking away.
Their footsteps echoed softly against the stone road.
Nobody from the Elmhart family tried to stop them.
Kite remained where he was, watching Victor’s back gradually disappear into the distance.
His thoughts were complicated.
Only a short while ago, he had believed Victor was an outsider who had become involved in Evelyne’s affairs.
Now he understood how ridiculous that assumption had been.
Victor wasn’t someone the Elmharts could casually offend.
And Evelyne’s relationship with him was far deeper than Kite had initially imagined.
Evelyne watched until Victor and Diana disappeared from sight.
Then she slowly turned toward the remaining members of her family.
Her expression became serious.
The chaos had ended.
Now came the difficult part.
The Elmhart family still had problems to resolve.
Kite lowered his eyes.
He knew that he would have to answer for his actions.
He also knew that Evelyne would no longer tolerate people making decisions behind her back.
The surrounding soldiers remained silent.
Nobody knew what to say.
The once-crowded street gradually became quieter as people began leaving.
The spectators who had gathered earlier had finally realized that the confrontation was truly over.
One by one, they dispersed into the surrounding streets.
But although their bodies left, their curiosity remained.
Whispers quickly began spreading.
"Who was that young man?"
"Did you hear Evelyne call him Master?"
"The head of the Elmhart family actually has a Master?"
"How powerful must he be?"
"Even the Earl of the Valier family couldn’t resist him."
"I’ve never seen anything like this before."
"Do you think he’s from some ancient sect?"
"Maybe he’s an existence from another kingdom."
"No, that kind of strength... Could he be someone even the royal family wouldn’t dare provoke?"
Nobody knew the answer.
Every person who had witnessed the confrontation had seen only fragments of Victor’s strength.
That was enough to create countless theories.
Some exaggerated what they had seen.
Others invented identities for Victor that had never existed.
Within a short time, the story would spread throughout the city.
The mysterious young man.
The terrifying power.
The Earl forced to retreat.
And most importantly—
The head of the Elmhart family calling that young man her Master.
The people who were watching at the side started to diminish as they saw that the commotion was over. They then started talking about what happened and started coming up with theories regarding the young man the head of the Elmhart family called Master.
