The Master Behind Evelyne

"For f*cks sake!" Victor shouted, full of anger and irritation.

The moment Victor sensed yet another person approaching, the last bit of patience he had been holding onto finally snapped.

He had already been interrupted several times.

First, Simon Valier had caused trouble for no reason.

Then there had been the three bodyguards.

After that came Kite Elmhart and his men.

And just when Victor thought he could finally deal with Simon and be done with this ridiculous situation, Cedric Valier had arrived with another group of people.

Victor had already warned Cedric.

He had even given the man a choice.

Yet, despite everything, someone had come to interrupt him again.

At this point, Victor was genuinely considering whether he should simply wipe out everyone who decided to involve themselves in the matter.

His golden eyes narrowed as he turned toward the newcomer.

But the killing intent that had begun to rise within him suddenly faded.

Victor recognized the person who had arrived.

His expression changed from murderous irritation to genuine surprise, followed immediately by a frown.

"What are you doing here?"

The newcomer was Evelyne Elmhar.

She stood a short distance away, her long black-green hair shifting gently in the wind. Her beautiful purple eyes moved across the chaotic scene before finally settling on Victor.

Evelyne had clearly not expected to find her Master surrounded by this many people.

Nor had she expected to see members of both the Elmhart and Valier families kneeling helplessly on the ground.

The scene was so absurd that even she needed a moment to understand what she was looking at.

Kite, however, reacted completely differently.

The moment he recognized Evelyne, relief flashed across his face.

Although Victor’s overwhelming pressure was still weighing heavily upon him, the arrival of his niece gave him a final thread of hope.

"Evelyne!"

Kite struggled to raise his head.

His breathing was heavy, and sweat covered his forehead.

"My niece, tell your friend to stop doing whatever it is he’s doing."

His voice was strained, but desperation was obvious in every word.

Evelyne’s eyebrows twitched.

"Friend?"

She looked toward Victor.

Then she looked at Kite again.

The expression on her face became somewhat complicated.

Kite had apparently misunderstood their relationship.

Before Evelyne could explain, Victor’s voice came from beside her.

"Friend?"

Victor repeated the word with a strange expression.

A faint smile appeared on his face, but there was no warmth behind it.

"I suppose you could call it that if you want to."

Evelyne immediately understood that her uncle had no idea what had happened between her and Victor.

She stepped forward.

"Master, what’s this all about?"

The moment those words left Evelyne’s mouth, the entire street fell silent.

"Master?"

Kite froze.

Cedric Valier’s expression changed.

Simon, who was still trembling on the ground, stared at Evelyne in disbelief.

The surrounding spectators also looked at the two of them.

For a moment, nobody seemed capable of processing what they had just heard.

"Master?"

Someone in the crowd repeated in a low voice.

Another person swallowed hard.

"Did she just call him Master?"

The word spread through the crowd like a stone dropped into still water.

Everyone had assumed that the mysterious young man was merely a friend or acquaintance of Evelyne Elmhar.

Even Kite had believed that.

After all, when he had first seen Victor, he had thought the young man was simply an ordinary-looking commoner who happened to know his niece.

But now Evelyne had personally called him Master.

That changed everything.

Kite’s eyes widened.

His mind went completely blank for several seconds.

"Master...?"

He looked from Evelyne to Victor and then back to Evelyne.

His niece had always been talented.

Kite knew that better than most.

But he also knew that Evelyne’s strength had increased dramatically over a relatively short period of time.

The change had been so significant that even members of the Elmhart family had been discussing it privately.

At first, Kite had assumed Evelyne had simply encountered some kind of opportunity.

Perhaps she had discovered an ancient inheritance.

Perhaps she had obtained a powerful cultivation technique.

Perhaps she had received guidance from some powerful expert.

But now...

Kite slowly turned his eyes toward Victor.

"Could it be...?"

His breathing became heavier.

Was this young man the reason behind Evelyne’s sudden transformation?

Was he the mysterious master who had taught her?

Kite remembered how effortlessly Victor had dealt with Simon’s guards.

He remembered the terrifying pressure that had forced everyone around him to their knees.

He remembered the brief moment when Victor had released his full power.

Even now, Kite’s body trembled whenever he recalled it.

He had initially believed that Victor was merely some arrogant young man who had become involved with Evelyne.

He had even called Victor an outsider.

He had ordered his men to apprehend him.

What a joke.

Kite felt a bitter taste in his mouth.

If Victor truly was Evelyne’s master, then Kite had just made a terrible mistake.

The surrounding members of the Elmhart family were equally stunned.

They had come here believing they were helping their patriarch resolve a conflict.

Instead, they had discovered that the young man who had casually overwhelmed them was the master of the family’s most promising young woman.

And that raised another terrifying question.

Just how powerful did someone have to be to become Evelyne’s master?

Evelyne herself remained calm.

She glanced around the street again.

Her eyes passed over the unconscious men, the kneeling Valier family members, Simon’s terrified expression, and finally her uncle.

"Uncle Kite," she said, "what happened?"

Kite’s expression stiffened.

He did not know where to begin.

Should he explain that Simon had caused the trouble?

Should he admit that he had tried to protect Simon?

Or should he explain that he had originally believed Victor was merely a commoner?

None of those explanations sounded particularly intelligent anymore.

Victor crossed his arms.

"Your uncle came here to protect that idiot."

He pointed toward Simon with his chin.

"He and everyone else decided to interrupt me one after another."
