Journey of the Fate Destroying Emperor
Chapter 1962 Creation Beast
deep sigh echoed throughout Heaven and Earth. "What a shame."
"Is that all you have to say?" a female voice followed. "She was our only chance at taking that bastard down."
"I understand that, but what can we do? It's too late now."
"No, I can't accept this. I can't allow Gu Chang'an to get away with everything. Didn't she have an apprentice? Let's use her."
"That little girl is not ready for a battle of this level."
"She'll have to be ready."
"You know better than anyone else that forcing someone to accept a destiny they're not ready for is a recipe for disaster."
"I know this, but I'm unwilling."
Emperor Sui sighed again. "Maybe it's about time we start accepting our fate."
"You can adapt this defeatist mindset all you want, but I won't give up until I kill that vile bastard."
"So, what do you suggest we do?"
"Didn't she build the heavenly court? It's a powerful True Saint Artifact with a lot of potential. Maybe we can —"
"No one is touching my stuff."
"You're alive?"
Wu Hong's body slowly recondensed. Her left arm was still heavily injured, and a few parts of her body were illusory, but she was indeed alive and well.
"How is that possible?"
"I see. Grand Dao protected her [Existence], but more importantly, she's connected to the Heavenly Emperor Era. As long as it's alive, she can use it as an anchor to activate her [Eternal Characteristic]."
Wu Hong exhaled deeply, taking a moment to control her emotions. It was so close. If not for her previous preparation, today would have been her death date. "Things have been proceeding too smoothly," Wu Hong thought. She had left her guard down. The strings of success had gotten to her head, and the price she paid was almost permanent.
"Lady Ai and Emperor Sui — that's you guys, right? What's your current situation?"
Emperor Sui sighed for the third time. "Well, it's not —"
The universe shook, and a terrifying killing intent spread from the core of the Red Cloud. Hordes after hordes of Destructo Beasts flew out of the central area, intensifying the attacks on the Borderworld, the Samsara Battlefield, and even the Source Qi Space.
Wu Hong frowned. "Hello? Are you guys still here?" No one answered even after a few more attempts. The situation was escalating rapidly, so she had no time to waste. Without wasting another moment, she returned to the Samsara Battlefield to fuse Death Assassin's body with the gates before teleporting to the Heavenly Court to take control of the situation.
"Sister, I'm so glad you're back." Nie Rouxie jumped toward Wu Hong's arm. "Wait, are you injured?"
"Don't worry, it's a minor thing." She was lying. Her current injury was single-handedly the worst injury she had ever suffered in her life, but now was not the time to be showing weakness.
"What's the situation?" Wu Hong asked as she sat on the throne.
"Your Majesty," one of the military strategists stepped up and projected screens showing the war situation on all fronts.
"Things have reached a critical state. Gu Chang'an seemed determined to break through our defenses and destroy as much of our progress as possible. The only good news is that no Saints have appeared as of yet," Wu Hong analyzed. She flipped through the war situation one by one and immediately concluded the biggest issue: troop numbers.
The Destructo Beast Horde was endless, and the court — despite its newly acquired vast territory — could not survive a war of attrition. Even with the help of the Battle Spirit System, the [Mortal Art Dao], the Puppet Legions, the Silver Legion (Heaven Will Emperors), and the Slave Legions, they were still heavily outnumbered.
"Right now, the best solution is to use Tactic Red Devourer in advance, but that requires me to control it. And in my current state, I wouldn't even last a second." Wu Hong knew if she used Saint Power again, her [Existence] would collapse, and she'd die permanently.
"What's the situation on reviving the Silver Legion? Or any of our soldiers, for that matter?"
"Your Majesty, about 25% of the Silver Legion died from, uh, from the clash of Saint's power, so they are gone for good. As for the others? Well, this is their fate."
The screen changed, showing the situation in Limbo. As soon as these soldiers entered the state between life and death, a red cloud appeared and swallowed that piece of their [Existence] that can be used as an anchor to revive themselves. Although not all of them were swallowed, more than 90% of them were victims of the attack.
Wu Hong groaned softly. "We need to regain control of the situation."
"But how?" Nie Rouxin asked. "At this point, unless we stop repairing the Six Paths Samsara, I don't think the Red Cloud will stop."
"We can send Lord Qilin," a strategist suggested. "We don't need him to keep eyes on the True Qi Path Holy Land since they have been so quiet. With his presence on the battlefield, the tide should turn."
"No."
"Your Majesty, is the True Qi Path Holy Land really such a threat?"
"I'm not stopping it because of that," Wu Hong said, shaking her head. "I worry that the presence of a Saint might force Gu — I mean, the Red Cloud Lord — to attack personally." After what happened to her, Wu Hong understood that Lady Ai and Emperor Sui's group was not completely reliable.
"Then, what do you suggest we do?" a strategist asked.
"We'll activate the Holy Creation Tactic."
"How is that going to help?"
"If he loses control of his horde, what do you think he'll do?"
"Stop to find out what's going on and maybe even solve it."
"And that's exactly what we want," Wu Hong added.
"It's worth a try."
"G-G-Go execute it."
"Your Majesty!"
Wu Hong raised her hand. "I'm fine." Her body stopped fizzling out of existence. However, it dawned on her that she needed to heal as soon as possible. So, she quietly and without anyone noticing left an avatar on the throne while her main body teleported to the pool of hope energy.
Meanwhile, the court began its deployment. In both battlefields, Array Masters began building these pillars. The process was swift and effortless, almost as if they had practiced for countless years. The Destructo Beasts noticed these pillars and the people who constructed them, and under their leader's order, they tried to stop it. Although they didn't know its effect, it didn't take a genius to know it wouldn't be something good.
And they were right. As soon as those pillars were activated, they released a golden light filled with the power of creation — the antithesis of the Destructo Beasts, which was the point. Wherever the light touched, the Destructo Beast roared in pain as its body slowly shifted to a sky-blue shade.
Their aura of violence, madness, chaos, and destruction was rapidly replaced by calmness, peace, order, and creation; the Destructo Beasts had turned into Creation Beasts. Then, chaos erupted. These two creatures—natural enemies and opposites—immediately began killing each other. There was no hesitation, no pause, no contemplation— just straight slaughter.
The court was more than happy. Without sacrificing any life, they had created a new legion of soldiers. What's more, it's that their numbers were endless as long as the Red Cloud kept attacking. Of course, they tried to destroy the pillars, but that tactic wasn't very efficient. First, most of the Destructo Beasts would be converted before they could reach the pillars. Second, even if they destroyed them, the court would just mobilize more.
Gu Chang'an did not give up immediately. Instead, he tried to corrupt the Creation Beasts using the power of Six Emotions and Seven Desires. He's had extensive practice using this power through the Curse of Forbidden Knowledge, and thought it would be enough. Unfortunately for him, Wu Hong was prepared.
First, the Power of Hope was still an effective method against the curse. Second, an array was built specifically to protect the mind— one reason the court successfully revitalized all professions in the past few yuan epochs. Lastly, the Creation Beasts were not only creatures born from the essence of Creation Dao, but also beings of pure light and order. Corrupting them was possible, but the time needed to do so for even one was enough for the court to convert thousands more Destructo Beasts.
Without any more choice left, Gu Chang'an had to resort to his trump card: two Destructo Saints showed up on the battlefield. For the first time since the disappearance of the holy lands' founders, Saint-tier powerhouses appeared in the Red Cloud.
The Heavenly Court acted swiftly. They handed the Emperor Sword and the Five Element Scroll to the Qilin Sovereign before deploying him to the front line. Additionally, Wu Hong granted him access to the court's power if necessary.
Wu Hong lay naked in the pool of hope energy with a frown on her face. Her vision pierced the endless distance to observe the True Qi Path Holy Land's central world, isolated by an impenetrable barrier. "They should be making their move now."
