Chapter 1858: Closing The Net
Chapter 1858: Closing The Net
"Repeat what you just said," Madam Chu stated, releasing a suffocating pressure. She looked at the leader of the Scout Division under her with squinted eyes.
"...The First Sovereign and all the remaining kings have disappeared," Seven Kills replied, trying to resist the urge to kneel. No matter what, he was still a Saint with his own pride and dignity.
"Go find them then," Madam Chu uttered.
"I’ve done my best and searched every inch of this world, but they are nowhere to be seen."
The void around Madam Chu suddenly collapsed before slowly reforming. She exhaled deeply, "We have already acquired five of the 12 positions. We only need a few more to condense this world’s destiny and fulfill our mission. But when we’re so close, you’re telling me the target disappeared. Tell me, how am I supposed to react to this information?"
Seven Kill was quiet. No matter how he tried to explain, the current situation was due to his delegation of duty. As someone used to being in a position of power, he knew that superiors detested excuses most in those circumstances.
"What is the last piece of information you received about them?" Madam Chu asked, trying her best to keep her composure. Anger was the last thing she needed in such a sudden situation.
"The Ninth King initiated a Heavenly Meeting to contact the others. I was prepared to report to you once I listened in on their meeting, but they somehow changed the time and date without my knowledge, and soon afterward, everybody disappeared."
"What about the Divination Department? Did they find anything?" the Romantic Scholar suddenly asked.
"They have realized that when working together, the Kings have the power to block the secrets of Heaven and Earth, and the potency is enough to render them useless," Seven Kill reported.
"Saint-tier Anti-Divination Capabilities? Things are not simple," someone muttered.
"We should have expected this. After all, this is a Source Chaos World."
A small discussion erupted in the meeting until everybody sensed a chill down their spine, forcing them to quiet down. Madam Chu looked at Seven Kill, her eyes cold and indifferent, "You have a week to find out where these people disappeared to. Do whatever you must to find the truth. Do you understand? Whatever it takes."
"I understand." Seven Kill bowed before disappearing from the room.
Madam Chu waved her hand, and everybody left the room. Once she was left alone, she couldn’t help but frown. With each passing second, the sensation that something would go wrong intensified. The worst part is that she couldn’t tell if this was because of the Infinite Divine Court itself or because of Death Reverence and the Death Beam that was visible anywhere in the universe.
"Hopefully, the court hasn’t fallen," Madam Chu thought. The worst-case scenario is that Death Reverence has already dealt with the Infinite Divine Court, especially the most powerful of them, Suiji. Without her strength, the chances of surviving this ordeal will be minuscule.
Bang!
The world suddenly trembled, and Madam Chu’s gaze turned to the distance. Seven Kill had started acting recklessly to find answers, even going as far as suppressing the branch of the River of Time of this world. Madam Chu observed coldly without saying anything else. As much as she wants to do things peacefully, time is running out. So, three days later, another meeting was held, and Seven Kill finally brought good news.
"They are working together to open the Twelve Firmaments Heavenly Emperor’s inheritance," Seven Kill reported.
"Who?"
"The only person who even held all Twelve Positions," Seven Kill reported. "And the only Saint this world has ever given birth to."
"Such a being exists?"
"Yes, and before his departure, the Twelve Firmament Heavenly Emperor left his inheritance as a last act of safety for his homeworld. Once they faced any danger, the Sovereigns and Kings could work together to open it, and according to legend, all troubles can be dealt with."
"How arrogant. He’s just one Saint. What can he do?"
"Don’t underestimate him. If he once held all twelve positions, then his foundation must be terrifying. After sanctification, he’s guaranteed 12 pillars, and maybe even the legendary 13-pillar."
"Hmm, that would be terrible news for us."
"Have you verified what’s inside the inheritance?" Madam Chu asked.
"No, just rumors," Seven Kill shook his head.
"What rumors?"
"The legend is that the Heavenly Emperor used his own Saint flesh to create a terrifying killing machine as a guardian for this world. However, as I said, they are only rumors, and I haven’t been able to confirm them."
"Were you able to collect any useful information about him or the inheritance?" Madam Chu asked with a frown.
"This Heavenly Emperor is strong — terrifyingly so. I clashed with him across space-time, and with only one look, he almost killed me."
Everybody in the room became somber. Although Seven Kill is only a 7-pillar Saint, his assassination skills are top-notch. Yet, despite trying to hide himself and being protected by endless time and space, the Twelve Firmament Heavenly Emperor still detected him and attacked, almost killing him.
"We need to get to that inheritance before they do," someone suggested.
"It doesn’t matter whether the contents are true or not. We cannot take the risk."
"Where is the inheritance located?" All eyes turned to Seven Kill.
"I don’t know exactly, but there is a way to find out," the Scout Division Captain replied. "We already have 5 of the Karmic Positions. If they work together, we can also sense or even summon the inheritance."
"Do it now," Madam Chu ordered.
...
Xu Shi’s quarters:
A deep furrow hung on her beautiful face after she received the order to deploy to some unknown secret realm. However, as soon as she read the information about the Twelve Firmament Heavenly Emperor, Xu Shi decided that it was her time to leave.
The Saints had ordered that no one could leave the snowy mountains without permission, so Xu Shi had to plan another exit. Although she had no plan on winning one of the karmic positions, she still used the excuse of trying to leave the mountain and plant an exit strategy outside. Now, it was time to activate the decoy.
Even before deployment, Xu Shi has been preparing an Avatar that can replace her. And by blessing said Avatar with some of the power of the Heaven Deception Talisman, no one will notice it’s a fake for a while. Then, she only needs to fake her disappearance or death after entering the secret realm. Meanwhile, her true self will take on the form of one of this world’s natives. As for what to do next? Xu Shi decided to act on a case-by-case basis.
The Heaven and Earth Origin Cycle Array, Wang Wei’s headquarters:
Xu Shi was the anchor that allowed him to keep tabs on what was happening inside the Sovereign & King World. And as soon as Wang Wei learned about the secret realm, his intuition warned him that a nexus event was about to occur.
"Ai, how are things proceeding with recreating the Mirror Seed?"
"I have successfully recreated a shoddy method, but sir, aren’t you a bit too paranoid? We have prepared so many plans for this Fate Nexus. At this point, you are just burning resources."
"No resource is as valuable as my life. Plus, you’re underestimating how rich the Heaven Splitting Holy Land was," Wang Wei replied. Despite everything he’s done, his space rings still contain countless first-step resources. As for the second step? Well, there wasn’t much in the first place, and he used a lot of them.
"Show me the shoddy method."
Ai sighed before transferring the data on the new product to him. After reviewing it, Wang Wei understood why she called it a shoddy product. Dongfang’s Mirror Seed is a beautiful creation of Causality Dao that allows two connected individuals to share everything — including their powers and understanding.
Meanwhile, Ai’s version of the Mirror Seed is more of an inheritance. She built a container in which Maitreya will instill her power. Then, Wang Wei can inherit that power and use it. Her version cannot ignore distance, but the good news is that Wang Wei can inherit even more of Maitreya’s Saint powers since she will instill them into the seed.
"Excellent," Wang Wei praised. Before creating Ai, he would have needed to spend millions of Yuan Epoch before he could turn the data he gathered from the Mirror Seed into a usable product. But now, he did it in only a couple of hundred Yuan Epochs.
"I’m glad you like it, sir."
"Do you think there is anything else I should prepare for this Time Nexus?"
"I think you’ve done enough."
"You think so?" Wang Wei muttered with squinted eyes. Unlike before, he cannot rely on anyone for his Time Nexus: his luck, his future self — nothing will protect him. So, in his mind, there is no such thing as too much preparation.
"Sir, the expeditions are about to enter the secret realm," Ai suddenly revealed.
