Chapter 1619: Last Preparations
Chapter 1619: Last Preparations
"I need you to train this newly created army. I am not satisfied with how the formed one turned out. I need you to do your magic from the second war and turn these soldiers into true warriors."
"No problem," Li Ming nodded. To perfect his Dao, Battle Maniac has studied various aspects of battles, including group fights and military battles.
"The Divine Protection Pavilion will fuse into the Divine Manufacturing Pavilion. All factions will also be required to send 5% of their Professionals to serve. And don’t just send the least talented individuals. Everybody must send at least one person to the top 10 of their profession."
Maitreya ignored these people’s ugly expressions.
"Since the association is in charge of the pavilion and it’s a relatively safe position, you must send 20% of your professionals."
Everybody felt better knowing someone else was suffering more than they were. However, the association did not mind as much. The pavilion was the safest place in the war. All they need to do is refine pills, talismans, arrays, puppets, and so on. Although the merit received will be less compared to directly fighting, that’s the price for staying in a safe environment, and they were fine with that.
"Qiyuan, make your puppet refining technique public and receive the merit for your innovation. Then, send Cai Song and the one called Puppet Demon to share their knowledge with the pavilion."
Qiyuan glanced at Wang Wei, who gave him a look that said: What do you want me to do? Just follow her order. "It will be done," Qiyuan nodded quietly.
"Your sect has many unique talents that can contribute to this war, but I won’t go too far since you are already occupying many positions," Maiteya nodded. As soon as she stated these words, Wang Wei suddenly thought of Yan Liling and Dong Lifen.
"Ma Liqiu," Maitreya said.
"Yes, Saint."
All the Primal suddenly had an ugly expression. Since when was this woman here? They never saw or sensed her in any form or shape. It was truly scary that someone could be so close to them, but no one noticed.
’Did you sense her?’ Wang Wei asked through divine sense.
’No,’ Wu Hong replied truthfully.
’It seems your title as the strongest is not as secure as we thought.’
’I always welcome the challenge,’ Wu Hong replied calmly. Being able to hide did not mean strength; it was an indication, but not an absolute one, so she remained confident.
"Your Dao also involved Dream, correct?"
"Dreams are another form of illusion," Ma Liqiu responded calmly.
"Can you steal information from people’s minds through dreams?"
Ma Liqiu paused briefly. "Yes."
"Good. You will be the Shadow Guard Commander. I need you to establish a shadow network to infiltrate the enemy’s home and gather intelligence. Do take into consideration they will be traveling to a hostile timeline.’
’As expected,’ Ma Liqiu said. In her era, she was famous for several things, one of which was the Dream Walkers, a fearsome shadow group that utilized dreams and illusions to steal information. When the Saint asked those questions, she had a sense of where it was leading.
"It can be done, but..."
"I can give you access to the Void Illusion Realm, but the ownership belongs to Wang Wei. If you want control back, settle the cause and effect with him."
"I understand."
"Wang Guo and Lin Fan," Maitreya uttered. She did not immediately speak. Instead, she summoned their spirit into a spiritual realm for private communication.
"Wang Guo, you are the person in the world most knowledgeable about Chaos Demon God Bloodline, and Lin Fan, you have the highest affinity with them. I’m giving you a task to investigate their presence and location. Don’t antagonize them. Just investigate and report, and it doesn’t have to be conclusive — I’m fine with just deep enough suspicions."
Wang Guo frowned. This was an opportunity for him, but there was an issue. "Saint, you saw the power of these Gods."
"Don’t worry, most of them have been reduced to the Paragon Realm."
"Most?"
"I will give you a token with my power; it should protect you in case you meet an anomaly."
"We will do our best," Lin Fan said.
"I will be giving you immense power — do not abuse it. Understand?"
The two felt a child down their spine, so they immediately nodded. Maitreya ended the secret communication and continued her work. "These two will have a special status as [Investigator]." She then condensed a golden token with her name on it.
"If they use this token, give them limited access to your factions and aid them in their investigation."
These old foxes were not stupid and immediately connected the word [Investigator] with the situation that happened with the black gate. Truth be told, all of them were preparing to investigate those things that escaped. After all, many of them have landed in their territory.
"Lastly, it’s you," Maitreya said while looking at Wang Wei. However, her following words were directly through divine sense. "Use your chessboard for the benefit of this war. If needed, you can ask me for a karmic line or to help you better hide one."
Wang Wei’s lips twitched. "I will."
"Keep an eye on Kong and guide him if needed."
"He should be fine, right?" Wang Wei said with a frown. The last thing he wanted was to help Kong without receiving any of the benefits of the Destined One. Of course, he was also planning to use the latter to gain some benefit.
"While he’s proving intelligent and responsive enough for this responsibility, I’m starting to doubt his ability to find a solution in desperate times — so far, he has been too reliant on his destiny to save him in challenging situations."
"I understand."
Maitreya nodded before declaring to everybody: "See you in 100 yuan epoch."
...
Wang Wei, Wang Bo, and the ancestors sat in a circle, pondering today’s event. Many things had happened, and they did not know where to begin. "The power of a Saint," Wang Chong sighed deeply, not hiding his hope and envy.
"No need to envy since we will one day reach such heights," Li Ming said.
"Speaking of cultivation, kid, why did you stop your advancement to Primal?" Wang Bo asked.
Wang Wei sighed. "It’s complicated, and I don’t even know too much myself. What I do know is that something bad might happen, and I need protection before I can advance."
"In that case, we need to prepare and lock down the sect," Qiyuan said.
"It would be better if you guys protected me on the continent," Wang Wei said. He felt much more secure inside the Origin Seal Continent’s array than in the sect.
"So, now, you’re looking down on my abilities."
"Old Man, it’s my life at stake here," Wang Wei rolled his eyes. He had many reasons for choosing his wife’s home, including the fact that she could design the array for Maitreya to use if needed.
"We understand, and we’ll be there," Qiyuan nodded. "On another note, do you want to take my previous position in the court? It’s a relaxing position and you get to be close enough to the war to receive the latest information."
"I don’t see why not?" Wang Wei nodded. After his ascension, he’ll need to focus on things like achieving the Paragon Taboo Realm and raising his Primal Class. Everyone — especially his wife — will be busy, so he’ll need something to do before he’s also deployed.
"Good. You go prepare and call us when you’re ready."
Wang Wei did not stay long since he was in a bit of a hurry to increase his strength. Maitreya’s action — while a bit comfortable — also revealed the predicament the Eternal Ascension World will be in. This war will be brutal, and there are no guarantees that he will make it alive or intact. After leaving the meeting, Wang Wei did not immediately start his retreat. Instead, he contacted Yan Liling, Don Lifen, Cai Song, and Jun Mengyao for a short reunion.
As he watched all four of them fly to his mountain, Wang Wei secretly nodded in satisfaction. Because he had left them trial tokens, all four are already Paragons, with Yan Liling already in the Second Heaven. Above all, they did not rush their cultivation and established a firm foundation. They also entered the Taboo Realm, meaning they have passed the sect’s test of preserving ingenuity and creativity by creating their own method of entering the taboo.
"You guys look powerful," Wang Wei said with a smile.
"Is this some kind of mockery?" Dong Lifen asked.
"Why do you say that?"
"We barely became Paragons while you were participating in one of the biggest wars this world had seen since the end of the Golden Age," she replied with a deep sigh. She had forgotten the frustration of being in the same generation as this man until she witnessed that legendary war.
"I was dragged into it," Wang Wei sighed. If it were up to him, he would happily cultivate and flirt with his wife.
