Journey of the Fate Destroying Emperor

Chapter 1586: The Skill Source

Chapter 1586: The Skill Source

Wang Wei could not sustain the black hole for long, so he stopped the spell once his body completely recovered. The assassin showed up a few seconds later, as she had jumped into the future. She looked at Wang Wei with her calm, blue eyes, her red hair blowing in the wind.

"The power of nothingness," she uttered with a voice as cold as absolute zero.

"Your eyes tell me you’ve seen people with this power before," Wang Wei commented.

"One of the most arrogant people is the one with achievement in the Path of Perfection or the Path of Nothingness," the assassin said calmly. "They think they are special for pursuing a taboo. The nothingness people are even worse since they think nothing can touch them."

The assassin raised her hand to condense a red curved blade that released an aura of life — not just one life, but all sentient existence, no matter what form they took. Wang Wei immediately squinted after seeing this weapon. "A Blade of Existence?"

What is the opposite of nothingness? Creation, everything, and existence.

"The fundamental rule of this universe is balance," the assassin said. "I don’t know why Grand Dao allows nothingness and perfection to be unique characteristics in the Chaos Universe, but all I care about is that these powers have forces that can balance them."

Two projections materialized behind her: the River of Time and the Source Qi Space. Wang Wei squinted as he realized he was correct and wrong in his analysis. The assassin was indeed a B-Class Primal, but her achievement was from the Source Qi Space. While her connection to the River of Time was significant, it did not yet meet the requirements, meaning he could still sever it.

The assassin suddenly appeared before him and swung her sword, trying to bisect him in two. Her movement was quick. She utilized the space-time continuum as a slingshot to boost her speed to a point that became mathematically and physically illogical. The worst part is that her speed was even faster than before since this Speed Ultimate Skill was powered by the River of Time.

Luckily, Wang Wei’s [Fate Reflex Technique] acted and separated his body from the place where the blade touched him. This situation was slightly comical as Wang Wei’s upper and lower body parts were still under his control, but the midsection cut by the Blade of Existence was annihilated.

Wang Wei’s lower body acted by kicking the assassin. However, she looked at this attack with disdain. While Wang Wei’s flesh was the pinnacle of the Tenth Heaven, this level of an attack was meaningless to her since it was not an ultimate skill. However, she underestimated Wang Wei.𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

Wang Wei’s perfect skills needed a boost to reach the level of ultimate skills, and he knew that. So, just as the assassin was about to evade this kick to continue slashing him, Wang Wei’s lower body suddenly exploded. By sacrificing his lower body and turning it into the purest form of death power, he met the requirement to boost his perfect skills.

As such, a black door from the underworld materialized behind the assassin. A titanic black skeletal hand reached out to capture her. The assassin frowned before casually waving her sword, which created a temporal tear that banished the Samsara Gate.

’What the hell?’ Wang Wei thought as he noticed an anomaly. For the sake of organization, he divided skills into four levels: regular, perfect, ultimate, and Grand Construct Skills. B-Class Primals used Grand Construct Skills since their ultimate skills are further enhanced by one of the constructs.

During the assassin’s first attack, her speed ultimate skill was powered by the River of Time, but her blade was attacked by a simple boosting Qi from the Source Qi Space. However, when she banished Wang Wei’s technique, her blade attack was powered by the River of Time and a unique Time Qi from the source.

Wang Wei’s confusion and shock stemmed from the sudden change in Qi. It would be understandable if this woman had an Adaptation Qi that could change to other elements, powers, or characteristics. But no. Instead, she used a completely different energy but still reached the requirement for her attack to be called a Grand Construct Skill by Wang Wei.

’Something is wrong,’ Wang Wei analyzed. This anomaly of the assassin might be crucial. It could be the key to his victory or defeat.

The assassin’s sword released a black aura that Wang Wei recognized as the power of slaughter. She appeared before and smashed her sword. And this time around, her attack was not a clean cut, but a potent blow that would annihilate the remaining upper half of his body.

Wang Wei did not try to use another perfect skill. Instead, he used his surroundings. The battle was still in the air near Origin Seal City. So, he extended the coverage of the city’s array to the point that it covered. Then, as expected of a masterpiece created by his fiancée, it blocked the assassin’s blade. He then seized this brief opportunity to regenerate his missing lower torso.

However, the assassin did not give him a chance to breathe. As soon as her attack was blocked, she changed to an Array Breaking Skill. Wang Wei reacted swiftly by using his Fate Dao to temporarily change the status of the array. In other words, when the sword touched, it was no longer a formation, but something else, so her technique that directly targeted the formation was useless.

Of course, Wang Wei would not barricade himself inside the formation. With this assassin’s versatility, she would find a way to break the array. Additionally, he cannot spend more time with this woman, or his Time Mark will be discovered.

’I need to deal with her speed,’ Wang Wei analyzed. His greatest trouble in this fight was his lack of speed. He’s been drawing power from the River of Fate to power his [Fate Reflex Skill] and elevate it to an Ultimate Skill. However, this technique was passive, which required constant nourishment from the River of Fate. Sadly, Wang Wei’s soul could not bear this process, which forced him to push his Soul Rings to the limit to sustain.

’Now, I understand why non-Primals cannot challenge Primals,’ Wang Wei complained while concocting a scheme. If not for his terrifying talent and numerous opportunities — which are a manifestation of his luck and destiny — even a D-Class Primal could slap him to death.

In a matter of nanoseconds, Wang Wei created a plan and executed it. He stopped channeling power to his reflexes and used a technique to influence the assassin’s sense of danger or intuition. Then, while condensing seals on his palm, he secretly used the power of emptiness from his flesh to hide a few spirit particles that he scattered in the surroundings.

’A desperate attack to seal me?’ The assassin thought. She sneered. Such an attack was useless as she would annihilate him before he got close. ’No, I must be careful.’ This person was exceptional. The Black Assassin Order has a strict hierarchy. Iron is for Mortal Tier cultivators, and they are rated from one to nine stars.

The three Immortal Realms are rated copper, silver, and gold. However, assassins on her level are granted the title of [Assassin King]. Even among the kings, Blue Ember was one of the elites. Yet, she failed to kill this Boundless Paragon. No, even worse, the latter was able to fight him on equal ground for a short period.

Blue Ember used a technique to replace her body with a clone without any detection. The clone is indistinguishable from her real self and has all her strength. Meanwhile, her main body perfectly blends in with the void. So, when Wang Wei’s "suicide attack" reached Blue Ember, her sword moved fast as she launched a devastating attack on him. In fact, she cut him the exact same number of atoms in his body.

"How beautiful," Wang Wei muttered before his body disintegrated. However, death was the point. The moment Blue Ember killed him, she set her fate. Wang Wei’s body turned into a rune that rushed directly into the assassin’s connection with the River of Time. While Wang Wei couldn’t do much about her access to the Source Qi Space, he could remove this connection.

The assassin separated from the void and tried to destroy the seal. Unfortunately for her, this rune was one of Wu Hong’s seals, and her sudden attempt was not enough to deal with it. Ultimately, she watched as her connection to the river was disconnected.

Blue Ember looked in the distance, where Wang Wei had regenerated himself from one of his particles.

"This won’t change anything," Blue Ember said coldly.

"I understand now," Wang Wei said. His plans are never simple. So, this scheme was not just to seal her speed, but to peek into her secrets. "No wonder the Black Assassin Order has been so successful."

Blue Ember frowned. "You saw the Skill Source?"

"I did."
