“Alright, alright. It’s not easy for her either.” After speaking, Xiao Ran smiled and reached out to take the child from Xu Cheng’s arms. “Come on, let Uncle hold you.”

He’d heard Xu Cheng complain about his wife plenty of times, but as a friend, his job was to help them make up, not break up.

All he could really do was try to talk some sense into him.

With that, Xiao Ran took Xiaobao into his arms, a gentle smile on his face. “Be a good boy. How about Uncle takes you to play on the swings?”

The little one shook his round head, his chubby face filled with reluctance. “No!”

‘He doesn’t want Uncle, he wants Daddy.’

“What do you mean you’ll take him? You barely get to visit.” Seeing this, Xu Cheng quickly took a step back. “I’m going to find Zhang Min right now!”

‘Nothing’s going to stop me today. I’m going to teach her a lesson and fix that attitude of hers!’

‘When a couple lives together, why is it always me who has to be considerate of her? Can’t she be considerate of me for once?’

Seeing his long, grim face, Yan Xici, who was standing to the side, was startled. She hurried forward and said placatingly, “How about I watch Xiaobao? I’m not busy anyway.”

Maybe it was the mention of the swings, or maybe the pretty lady in front of him was just too beautiful, but the usually shy Xiaobao actually opened his chubby little arms, wanting Yan Xici to hold him.

“He actually went to you!” Xu Cheng said in amazement.

It wasn’t just Xu Cheng; even Xiao Ran was taken aback for a moment.

‘We’re both strangers. Why would he let Yan Xici hold him but not me?’

The girl’s smile was sweet, her moist eyes seeming to hold a cluster of crushed stars. “Don’t worry, Brother Cheng. I’ll take good care of him for you!”

With that, she carefully took the child into her arms.

He was just a small child, so soft and tiny. She was afraid she might accidentally hurt him, and even her gaze grew gentler. “Let’s go. We’ll go play on the swings together~”

A cute girl facing an adorable baby, her tone filled with sweetness—it was an overload of cuteness.

Watching them made Xu Cheng’s heart pang with envy.

Today he finally understood why people say women are made of water. That gentle, kind spirit was just so endearing.

‘Not like my own tigress at home, who acts all tough and domineering. Just thinking about it is frustrating!’

‘They’re both women, so how can they be so different!’

Yan Xici carried the child, the big one and the little one walking toward the swings. The setting sun cast a faint halo around the girl, making for a beautiful sight.

Xu Cheng couldn’t help but sigh with emotion. “Xici is such a good girl. You’re a lucky guy!”

Xiao Ran grinned smugly. “To be honest, I think so too.”

‘This wasn’t him showing off; he genuinely believed it.’

He had seen and appreciated everything Yan Xici did for him.

For all the years she had lived with his family, he had been the one to worry about everything for her, from her daily needs to her studies.

‘It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say she was a rose he had raised with his own hands!’

‘Now the flower has blossomed, vibrant and alluring. If someone else were to really pluck it, I would probably go insane!’

Xu Cheng smiled and gave him a playful shove. “Alright, don’t be so smug.”

‘Honestly, a little praise and he’s already full of himself!’

Just then, Zhang Chuan arrived with Li Yuanyuan. The moment he walked in, he saw the two of them standing under the veranda and strode over. “Hey, are you two talking about how handsome I am behind my back again?”

Xu Cheng shot Zhang Chuan a harsh glare. ‘This guy is so shameless!’

“Give me a break. Out of the three of us, Xiao Ran is obviously the most handsome!”

Back in college, Xiao Ran was the famous heartthrob of their class. Not only did Xu Cheng know this, but Zhang Chuan knew it perfectly well too.

Zhang Chuan didn’t seem to mind, though. He smiled and introduced them to Li Yuanyuan. “This is Xu Cheng, and this is Xiao Ran. They’re both older than you, so just call them ‘brother’.”

Li Yuanyuan nodded. “Hello, brothers.”

She was wearing a black halter top today, with a sort of bandage-style design in the middle—probably some new style of crop top—and a pair of black denim shorts.

Her long black hair was loose over her shoulders. Overall, her look wasn’t bad; you could give her an 80 out of 100.

Xu Cheng turned to Xiao Ran and said, “Alright, everyone’s here, so let’s get started. I’ll have someone bring us the ingredients, and then you and Xici can help film a video.”

This was the most important task for the day.

Hearing this, Xiao Ran nodded. “Okay, I’ll go get Xici.”

With that, he walked toward the swings in the distance.

Right then, Yan Xici was on the swings with Xiaobao in her arms. The setting sun painted the sky with vast, brilliant strokes of twilight.

The wooden swing swayed back and forth.

The girl held the little baby carefully in her arms, softly humming a song.
