Evening.

Chen Shu and the others had already returned to Huaxia Academy in the Capital.

Beast Taming Building No. 1, Room 703.

The group arrived at their exclusive classroom.

Several urea bags had been piled up around the room, stuffed full of medicinal herbs and fierce beast materials.

All five of them wore huge grins as they started tallying up the haul from this mission.

Night fell.

"Including the mission rewards we picked up, it's about eighty million!"

The five of them let out long sighs of relief, utterly thrilled.

In less than a month, they'd raked in eighty million worth of resources.

In reality, Black Iron-grade herbs were in short supply, so the actual value would be a bit higher.

Fang Si spoke up, "I'll post them on the Beast Tamer Association website later. Does anyone need specific resources?"

Converting Black Iron-grade herbs into Huaxia Currency was the worst deal — bartering was the way to go.

Especially for high-level Beast Tamers. Huaxia Currency was nothing more than a number to them, providing zero improvement. Only beast taming resources could do that.

"I don't need anything. Just convert it to Huaxia Currency."

"Me neither."

Lu Zhining spoke up, "Sis Fang Si, I'd like to trade for an Earth-Rending Demon Wolf Lord material."

"Done!"

Fang Si nodded, then turned to Chen Shu. "Chen Pi, what about you?"

"Potions. Any Black Iron-grade potion you can get."

Neither of his two contract spirits had maxed out on Black Iron-grade potions yet — that was the fastest route to getting stronger.

Lu Zhining cut in with a reminder, "Junior Chen Shu, you can use academic credits to get potions later, you know."

"Credits can be exchanged for all kinds of resources. No need to waste them on potions."

Chen Shu shook his head. Huaxia Academy's credits were far too precious to spend lightly.

"That's settled then."

Fang Si agreed with Chen Shu's decision too. Trading Black Iron-grade herbs for same-tier potions — they'd sell fast.

Potion Masters would snap them up just for the markup.

"Now let's talk about this rock."

All five pairs of eyes locked onto the cyan stone — the True Treasure taken from the Black Tree King.

Fang Si said, "Based on my research, a Black Iron-grade True Treasure is worth around a hundred million. A Silver-grade? The value jumps ten times."

One billion?!

The moment those words landed, Chen Shu and the others couldn't stop their breathing from getting heavier.

"But this True Treasure isn't fully matured. It's only worth about half."

Fang Si turned the cyan stone over and over in her hands, examining it from every angle.

True Treasures also went through a long growth period, requiring constant absorption of a King-rank beast's aura.

Only once fully transformed would they be swallowed whole by the King-rank beast.

Back when the White Lion's True Treasure had been close to maturity, Chen Shu hadn't hesitated — he'd let the Husky swallow it. The effects wouldn't be much worse.

But this cyan stone? Way too far from maturity. Its actual potency might only be half.

Fang Si asked, "Anyone want to keep it?"

"If not, we just sell it."

Everyone shook their heads. No one chose to hold onto it.

A Silver-grade True Treasure was far too precious for them. On top of that, it was a wood-attribute treasure — not much use to any of them.

The Husky could use it, sure, but having a Black Iron-rank contract spirit swallow a Silver-grade True Treasure? Way too extravagant.

For maximum benefit, letting a Silver-rank spirit swallow it was best.

"In that case, we'll split based on a valuation of five hundred million."

After some discussion, they settled on Chen Shu taking half, with the remaining split evenly among the other four.

Winning that True Treasure — Chen Shu's Disguise Potion and Berserk Potion had obviously played the decisive role.

When it came to dividing the spoils, the five of them had no conflicts whatsoever.

Fang Si announced, "It might take a while to process everything. Everyone's free to do as they please."

...

Chen Shu left Classroom 701 and strolled down a tree-lined path on the Huaxia Academy campus.

"Junior Chen Shu."

Just then, a soft voice rang out.

It was Qiao Yue and the other two!

Chen Shu turned around. "Seniors, what's up?"

As if something had just occurred to him, he added, "Don't worry, I'll mail you the pajamas soon."

"Uh... that's not..."

Qiao Yue shook her head. "We wanted to ask... about your potions..."

Then, worried Chen Shu might misunderstand, she quickly added, "If it's not something you can share, forget it."

They were just purely curious. Who could blame them, when Chen Shu's potions were that outrageously overpowered?

"I won the Beast Taming Competition championship. The Nancang Governor gave them to me as a reward."

Chen Shu spouted utter nonsense with a perfectly straight face.

There was no way he'd reveal the truth. He'd just pinned it on a King-rank Beast Tamer instead. Not like anyone had the guts to go ask the Governor.

Qiao Yue and the other two had an epiphany and nodded. "So that's how it was."

"Junior, don't worry — we won't tell a soul!"

Qiao Yue and the others smiled, then turned and left.

Perhaps because of how much he trusted Fang Si, Chen Shu felt the same trust toward Qiao Yue and her group.

"Over two hundred million in Huaxia Currency, just like that... what a hassle, honestly..."

Chen Shu shook his head, a look of melancholy in his eyes.

"Money — truly the source of all suffering!"

Passersby turned to stare, instantly dumbfounded.

The hell kind of thing is that to say?!

...

The next day, Chen Shu arrived at the Tianhua Store.

"Mr. Chen, the ingredients you requested have arrived. Would you like assistance with delivery?"

"Yeah."

Chen Shu nodded. He'd bought a full month's worth of ingredients — no way he was hauling that himself.

"Deliver them to Capital Spirit Chef University."

Chen Shu didn't have a permanent residence in the Capital, so his only option was to stash the ingredients in Zhang Dali's private kitchen first.

The server smiled. "The total comes to one million one hundred twenty thousand."

Chen Shu nodded, internally shocked at how expensive it was — but to maintain the aura of a tycoon, he kept his expression perfectly neutral.

After all, this was a diet plan personally formulated by a King-rank Spirit Chef, with ingredients shipped in from all over the country. Transport and storage fees alone were a fortune.

Chen Shu sighed. His two contract spirits were eating over a million a month — eating better than he did himself.

Classic case of man being inferior to dog!

"Oh, right — get me a set of raw materials for Basic-grade Flame Potion. You've got those in stock, right?"

"Of course!"

The server smiled. As a nationwide corporation, they kept the basics for fundamental potions in stock pretty much everywhere.

"Good, good. Send those to the Spirit Chef University too."

Chen Shu left the Tianhua Store.

His Flame Potion proficiency had already been raised to Sage level — naturally, he needed to test out the new effects.

An hour later, Chen Shu arrived at the gates of Spirit Chef University.

Just as he was about to enter, the old man at the gate suddenly spoke up in warning:

"Young man — remember, no causing trouble!"

"..."

Chen Shu nodded. He hadn't expected the guy to already recognize him.

"Don't worry, old man. I won't do it myself!"

He grinned, silently adding to himself: Whoever messes with me, I'll just drop a nuke!

He strode boldly into Spirit Chef University and made his way to Zhang Dali's private kitchen.

"Chen Shu, you're alive?!"

Zhang Dali looked Chen Shu up and down, his expression one of profound regret.

"The hell kind of face is that?"

Chen Shu's mouth twitched. "I'm back, and you look disappointed?"

Zhang Dali declared, "I just finished learning a whole new cuisine. When the time comes, I can personally host your funeral banquet!"[1]

"???"

[1] Host your funeral banquet (操办你的席, cāobàn nǐ de xí): 吃席 literally means "eat at a banquet" but in Chinese internet dark humor specifically refers to the funeral feast. When someone does something reckless, onlookers joke "准备吃席了" (time for the funeral banquet). Saying "I'll personally host your funeral feast" is the evolved form — and from Zhang Dali, a Spirit Chef student, it's a professional courtesy wrapped in a death wish.
