"Hope the school's okay!"

Qiao Yue and the other two had made a habit of praying daily lately — hoping that Huaxia Academy could withstand Chen Shu's wrecking ball.

"Alright!"

Chen Shu tied up a urea bag stuffed with fierce beast materials and hoisted it onto the Swift Wind Sparrow's back.

Beside it, seven or eight urea bags were already stacked.

Clearly, half a month's worth of hunting had paid off handsomely!

"That brings us to about fifty million now!"

Chen Shu stroked his chin, muttering calculations under his breath:

"Senior Qiao Yue's Demon Eye Crow and Healing Green Caterpillar contributed heavily, so she gets two million; Senior Ning contributed a fair bit too — two million; Senior Lu gets one million..."

"......"

All four of them stared at Chen Shu, mouths slightly agape.

Lu Zhining finally couldn't hold it in. She burst out: "Why do I only get one million when Xiao Qiao and Qingyi get two million?!"

"Huh?!"

Fang Si and the other two felt their mouths twitch, then turned to look at Lu Zhining. That's what you're focused on?!

"Stop calculating!"

If they let Chen Shu keep going, all four of them would probably end up with nothing but a token labor fee.

Fang Si clapped Chen Shu on the shoulder and said: "You're a bandit, not the Wolf of Wall Street!"

"Hey, life's tough, gotta pick up a side hustle now and then..."

"??"

Everyone shook their heads and instinctively watched the treasure on the Swift Wind Sparrow's back a little more closely...

"Let's rest up today!"

Fang Si announced. The group cheered, then turned their eager eyes toward Chen Shu.

Gotta hand it to him — the Nanjiang Bandit's cooking was genuinely good.

Chen Shu shook his head but grabbed a urea bag packed with ice and fierce beast meat.

"Dumb Husky, set up the wok!"

The Husky barked once, finally able to put down the black wok strapped to its back.

It wasn't exactly tiring, but it always felt a bit off carrying a wok around.

One man, one dog, started preparing dinner.

Fang Si and the others gathered dry firewood and cleaned out a large nearby tree hollow for shelter.

The team worked in smooth, practiced rhythm — somehow, even in a dangerous alternate dimension, a faint sense of home had crept in.

Just then, the Demon Eye Crow let out a raucous caw.

Qiao Yue froze for a beat, then her expression sharpened. She said:

"Sis Fang Si, beast tamers incoming!"

Everyone tensed up, instantly on full alert.

An alternate dimension was lawless territory. Even if Huaxia Academy geniuses died here, no one would come to investigate.

Fang Si kept her composure. She asked: "Which direction? How long?"

"North... moving fast... accelerating..."

Qiao Yue's face shifted. She looked ahead. "They're almost here!"

Everyone looked up. A dark silhouette had appeared in the distance.

Within two minutes, it was right in front of them.

Scree!

A black flying bird swooped in at low altitude. Six people stood on its back, their gazes fixed on the group as well.

"Silver-rank?"

Fang Si frowned slightly, picking up on the black bird's level.

"Oh?"

The middle-aged man at the front studied the five of them, scanning their contract spirits one by one.

"Potential ratings this high?"

The man stroked his chin. His gaze was deep and unreadable.

"Could it be? Huaxia Academy geniuses?"

Fang Si was the first to step forward. Her two dragon-type contract spirits let out low growls at her side, their eyes locked on the strangers.

"I suggest you leave immediately. Otherwise, face the consequences."

Her tone was cold. Human hearts were just too complicated — keeping to one's own lane was the best choice.

"And if we don't?"

The Silver-rank man spoke flatly, not expecting the other side to come out swinging so hard.

The moment those words left his mouth, both sides fell into silence.

The atmosphere turned razor-sharp in an instant, as if a fight could erupt at any second.

It was already dusk. The alternate dimension was eerily quiet.

Shk-shk-shk!

Chen Shu, utterly unperturbed, kept working his butcher's cleaver through the fierce beast meat. The sound of cutting came across as piercing in the silence.

"Hm?"

The man turned his gaze to Chen Shu. That behavior was more like a provocation!

"What're you looking at me for?"

Chen Shu cracked a grin, his expression utterly unperturbed.

But there was a savage gleam in his eyes that sent a chill down the spine.

"Huaxia Academy geniuses indeed! My respect! Let's go!"

The man frowned. The black bird beneath his feet wheeled around and left without another word.

Fang Si's face remained impassive. She simply watched them go in silence.

Their squad might not have a Silver-rank, but she did have a bottle of Berserk Potion.

If the Scarlet Flame Dragon swallowed it, its strength would surge tenfold in an instant — even stronger than your average Silver-rank.

At that point, she could hold off the man's contract spirit.

Then Chen Shu and the others could deal with the five Black Iron-rank beast tamers and close the encirclement.

Even a Silver-rank beast tamer would meet his end right here.

But the cost would be enormous. A contract spirit might be gravely wounded or even killed. That was a price none of them were willing to pay.

Qiao Yue asked: "Sis Fang Si, should we relocate?"

"No."

Fang Si shook her head. "Otherwise, they'll think we're scared."

Chen Shu was secretly disappointed. His original plan had been to just rob them outright...

As the group discussed...

Up on the black bird.

"Boss, those kids were way too cocky. Teaching them a lesson wouldn't have hurt."

Someone's voice carried a note of dissatisfaction.

Based on the power balance, the other side should have been the ones to back down — maybe even offer up their spot willingly.

But whether it was Fang Si's words or Chen Shu's meat-cutting performance, neither showed the slightest respect for their seniors.

The man said: "They probably have a trump card. No one stays that calm otherwise."

"And besides... there was something off about that meat-cutter's eyes."

The man sighed. "I've seen eyes like that before. On an international criminal."

Everyone's hearts clenched. They thought back to Chen Shu's face just now, and a creeping fear took hold.

"I get the feeling if we'd stayed any longer, that guy would've made the first move..."

The man sighed again, feeling that the times had truly changed. Just now, they'd been the ones who felt like lambs waiting for slaughter...

...

"What a shame."

The five of them sat gathered around an iron wok, cooking up all kinds of beast meat. The aroma drifted far and wide, whetting the appetite with every whiff.

Fang Si asked: "What's a shame?"

"If that group hadn't had a Silver-rank beast tamer."

Chen Shu sighed. "I was planning to collect some protection fees."

"......"

Everyone went speechless. So that's what you were disappointed about, you jerk...

"Have you guys noticed? I feel like the temperature's been rising lately."

Ning Qingyi suddenly spoke up. "And the mist around us has thinned out a bit."

"I've noticed it too."

Fang Si nodded, a thoughtful look in her eyes.

Qiao Yue asked: "Could it be a sign of something?"

"Pretty sure it's just global warming."

Chen Shu shrugged, not too bothered. Besides, changes in circumstances often meant riches anyway!

No one dwelled on it. They enjoyed a hearty dinner together.

"Let's get ready to sleep."

The five returned to the nearby tree hollow.

Chen Shu, still in his psychiatric gown, gave his other clothes a quick wash.

"Little Fire Dragon, help me dry these."

Chen Shu draped the clothes over the Scarlet Flame Dragon's body. Within moments, all the moisture had been baked away.

The Husky did have fire-attribute skills too, but Chen Shu didn't trust it one bit anymore.

If he let the Husky handle it, he was pretty sure the clothes wouldn't dry — he'd just end up as human jerky first...

"Junior Chen Shu, is that psychiatric gown really this comfortable?"

Qiao Yue sidled up to Chen Shu and whispered. Those bright eyes of hers held a flicker of temptation...
