Island Survival: I Build a Moving Castle at Sea

Chapter 191: Jiang Yuxing Makes a Move

The alpaca hummed.

So, the group continued to follow it.

After passing through a thick patch of reeds, the sight before them left everyone stunned.

It was a vast field of golden wheat. The mature heads of grain bent the stalks, creating a particularly bountiful sight.

Wen Bai plucked a head of wheat, rubbed it between his hands a few times, and blew into his palm, sending the chaff flying away and leaving only the grains.

The four of them huddled together, all staring at the wheat in his palm. There were many grains, and each one was plump and full.

Shi Zhile immediately called out to her system, “Scan this wheat field. How large is it?”

A moment later, the system replied.

[There is also a wheat field in the mountain pass. Combined, the system has scanned a total area of 8,000 square meters, which is 12 mu.]

Shi Zhile relayed the system’s message.

Sun Ci analyzed the situation. “The grains are full, but this is a mountainous area, after all. A lack of fertilizer or a drought could easily lead to a reduced yield.

“If we calculate based on a normal dry field, the maximum yield per mu is about 1,000 jin.

“A conventional high-yield field can produce about 1,100 jin, and a high-standard farm can reach around 1,500 jin.”

Shi Zhile took out sickles from her storage space and stuffed one into everyone’s hands.

“I don’t care what the yield is. Once we harvest it, it’s all ours. This is a freebie. Let’s get to it before anyone else finds it.”

The three men bent over and swung their sickles.

Shi Zhile thought about her own position, gritted her teeth, and placed her last doll at the designated location ahead of schedule.

That location was the very same cave that Shi Zhiyi and Jiang Jing had explored.

After placing the doll, Shi Zhile sent a message to Shi Zhiyi, telling her the plan had been moved up.

Once that was done, Shi Zhile also joined in on harvesting the wheat.

Wen Bai and the other two had already harvested two rows. Afraid that someone might come and try to take their spoils, they stuffed each handful they cut directly into their back-baskets.

Just like that, they set up a simple tent there.

During the day, everyone harvested wheat. At night, they took turns keeping watch.

Even though three of the four were able-bodied men, the labor was still half-killing them, as they weren’t used to it.

Three days passed in a flash. As far as the eye could see, half of the 12-mu wheat field had finally been harvested.

The temperature dropped a bit at night. The four of them gathered around a fire, roasting mutton and soothing the aches in their backs from constantly bending over to cut wheat.

The alpaca had performed a great service. The four of them took turns feeding it every day, sometimes with fruit, other times with fresh vegetables.

But most of the time, it preferred to forage for its own food.

Tang Yan flipped a meat skewer over, his other hand constantly pounding his lower back.

Nearby, the alpaca watched the Green Snake gnawing on some meat. Seeing that the snake was still eating, it opened its mouth and spat.

Hearing the sound, all four of them looked over. They saw the Green Snake raise its head, its tongue flicking in and out at the alpaca. Although it made no sound, their instincts told them the snake was cursing up a storm.

The next moment, a huge explosion echoed from the other side, immediately followed by the sound of collapsing rock.

The ground where the group was standing even shook slightly.

The Green Snake instantly coiled around Shi Zhile’s wrist. The alpaca stood up, its ears twitching repeatedly.

Wen Bai looked at Shi Zhile. “Was the doll triggered?”

Shi Zhile immediately opened her panel to check. Sure enough, Doll No. 2 had disappeared.

She opened the video feed from just before the doll’s explosion and enlarged it for the group to see.

In the video, the entrance to the not-so-large cave was crowded with players—men, women, old, and young. They were even fighting over who would enter first.

A short person squeezed into the cave. In the video, a figure gradually approached. When the person reached the doll, the joyful, triumphant look on their face twisted into one of anger and disbelief.

“Son of a bitch! What was all that fighting for? This isn’t Shi Zhile at all, it’s a fucking doll!”

He shouted angrily as he kicked out with his foot. The next moment, the explosion went off, engulfing all the players.

The video ended there. Shi Zhile then received a video call from Shi Zhiyi.

Shi Zhiyi’s voice came through the darkness.

“Lele, don’t switch to another doll. Jiang Jing and I have been exposed. We’re heading over to rendezvous with you now.”

The instant the doll exploded, Shi Zhile’s coordinate information returned to her own person.

But she had already placed other dolls in different locations. As soon as the previous doll exploded, the next one would be activated immediately.

Shi Zhile activated the new doll. She didn’t relax until she saw the location coordinates appear at Tang Yan’s position.

“‘Getting exposed was bound to happen sooner or later. Sis, hurry up and get here.'”

‘Come help us harvest this wheat!’

Half an hour later, the two of them finally reached the wheat field.

They added more wood to the fire and started roasting food again.

During their conversation, Jiang Jing mentioned Jiang Yu, his voice filled with worry. “Jiang Yu was dragged into the Battle Royale, too. I don’t know if she’s being targeted, but besides chat, most of the functions on her panel are disabled. Anything involving location information is completely blocked by the system.”

He was both furious and anxious.

Furious that the game was being so cruel, specifically targeting a young girl.

Anxious for Jiang Yu’s safety.

Fortunately, Jiang Yu was with Luo Chuan. Although Luo Chuan’s panel was also blocked when it came to location information, at least the two of them could look out for each other.

Shi Zhile said, “Wasn’t she at the secret base? We didn’t bring her with us when we left…”

She paused, then continued, “Could it be that the Battle Royale mode forcibly drags in all players? What about the Base Chief and the others?”

Jiang Jing replied, “We’re not sure. We can’t get in touch with the Base Chief or any of them.”

The wind blew, rustling through the wheat field, and the atmosphere grew heavy.

If the Battle Royale mode was mandatory, that was one thing. But if it wasn’t, then the fact that the Base Chief and the others were out of contact meant the seniors had probably met with disaster, too.

To avoid any further complications from delaying, and also to find the Base Chief and Jiang Yu, the six of them began harvesting the wheat at top speed.

Another three days flew by. The 12-mu field was finally harvested, and everyone’s backpack was stuffed to the brim.

But the Battle Royale mode still hadn’t ended, and they still couldn’t contact the Base Chief and the others.

Meanwhile, on the grasslands, Jiang Yu encountered Jiang Yuxing.

Jiang Yuxing was wearing a black windbreaker, lounging comfortably in a deck chair. A dagger spun nimbly between his fingers before he tossed it into the air and caught it again.

Hearing footsteps, he lifted his eyelids.

“Long time no see, Jiang Yu! Have you decided how you want to die?”

Luo Chuan shielded Jiang Yu behind him, watching Jiang Yuxing warily.

Jiang Yu pulled Luo Chuan back to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with him.

“I’m the one you want to kill. Let Luo Chuan go.”

“No!”

“Luo Chuan!”

Jiang Yuxing cleaned out his ear, rose unhurriedly, and paid the two of them no mind whatsoever.

“You both have the same poker face, but Shi Zhile is much more interesting than you.

“If this were Shi Zhile, she would never ask such a stupid question. Because… she knows I would never let anyone go.

“Especially someone I can kill so conveniently.”

As soon as he finished speaking, he flicked his dagger out.

The two of them dodged to the side in unison.

As expected, the dagger missed them both and embedded itself straight into the grassy ground.

Jiang Yuxing clicked his tongue in dissatisfaction and pulled out another dagger.

At the same time, Jiang Yu and Luo Chuan launched their own attack.
