Sunlight bathed the island on the second day. By the time Shi Zhile got up, Shi Zhiyi had already prepared breakfast.

There was golden millet porridge and savory egg crepes, and Shi Zhile devoured three large pieces.

Shi Zhiyi rested her chin in her hand, watching her with a warm smile.

"The mushrooms we picked a while back have dried. They should be perfect for soup. Didn’t you say you wanted chicken soup yesterday? I’ll stew some for you when you get back today."

Shi Zhile looked up from her bowl. "I want a clear broth then, no chili peppers this time. And I want scrambled eggs with tomatoes, too."

As she spoke, she waved her hand and produced a large basket of tomatoes and eggs.

Shi Zhiyi shot her a fierce glare. After confirming no one else was around, she quickly put the items away.

When Shi Zhile reached for her millet porridge again, Zhiyi stopped her.

"I know you aren’t short on supplies, but just because you aren’t doesn’t mean others aren’t. You have to learn to hide your wealth. What if someone sees you pulling out piles of supplies like that?

Even the most strong-willed person couldn’t resist the temptation you’re creating by being so lavish with your supplies.

You silly girl, do you understand at all?"

Shi Zhile smiled and patted the back of her sister’s hand. "Of course I understand, Sis. Look above my head. What do you see?"

Shi Zhiyi said, "I see hair."

"And what else?"

Shi Zhiyi rubbed her eyes but saw nothing else. She said, annoyed,

"Air, hair oil, and dandruff."

"You don’t see the resource ranking displayed over my head? I’m number two on our regional resource leaderboard. It’s a big number 2, you can’t see it?"

Shi Zhiyi shook her head. "I really can’t see it. The regions are different, so the rankings are different. It’s not that surprising that I can’t see your rank. On this island, I’ve only seen three or four players with numbers over their heads."

’She knew her sister wasn’t short on supplies, but she never expected her to be wealthy enough to break into the top three on the resource leaderboard.’

The higher your rank, the more attention you get. But that also means there are more players who want what you have but don’t dare to make a move.

They covet my supplies, but they also fear my weapons. Handguns have already shown up, so who’s to say someone hasn’t crafted bombs yet?

To most players, supplies are important, but their lives are more important. Right now, they aren’t desperate for food or water, so they wouldn’t dare risk it all for a prize that would just make them a target for everyone else.

Hearing the confidence in Shi Zhile’s voice, Shi Zhiyi relaxed a little.

After breakfast, the group headed into the woods again.

The woods on the eastern side had been picked nearly bare by the players. At first, there were still wild vegetables and mushrooms to be found, but ever since the animal population dwindled, the wild vegetables had all vanished.

While the temperature in the Primitive Forest wasn’t as high as it had been during the extreme heatwave, standing under the sun was still enough to make one dizzy. As a result, fewer and fewer players were venturing out to sea during the day.

Today, Shi Zhile’s target was the giant python, and accompanying her, as usual, was Jiang Yuxing.

In a clearing ahead, the tip of a tail as thick as a person was wrapped around a massive tree. With just a slight squeeze, the trunk of the giant tree instantly shattered into pieces.

Shi Zhile couldn’t see the python’s head. She moved stealthily, following the winding body of the snake forward. When she estimated she had reached its belly, she raised her axe and brought it down with all her might.

The axe fell upon the giant python’s scales. A straight line of light flashed from the blade, and with a faint CRACK, the snake’s body was instantly severed in two.

Blood sprayed everywhere as the severed tail thrashed violently. A hoarse, drawn-out shriek echoed from halfway up the mountainside, and Shi Zhile immediately pulled Jiang Yuxing into her space.

The moment they entered the Planting Space, Jiang Yuxing made himself at home on Shi Zhile’s lounge chair.

Shi Zhile glanced down at her own filthy, blood-soaked state, then looked at Jiang Yuxing, who was so clean he almost seemed fragrant by comparison.

"This space is great and all, but it’s a shame you can’t see what’s happening outside. If you could, you could just lie back in a wicker chair, eat some fruit, and watch the action unfold. It doesn’t get more comfortable than that."

Jiang Yuxing let out a long sigh, a mixture of speechlessness and resignation in his voice. "So, you’re telling me all this because you want something, don’t you?"

Shi Zhile dodged the question. "That system notification yesterday... that was you, wasn’t it? Did your system eat mine? I want a water mirror, like the kind in novels that lets you observe anything and everything."

"No to your first two questions, and no to your request."

Shi Zhile asked, "Why not?"

’She didn’t actually care about the answers to the first two questions. All she wanted was the mirror.’

Jiang Yuxing reached out to flick her on the forehead, but immediately retracted his hand when he saw she was covered in snake blood from head to toe.

"A mirror that can observe anything and everything? Why don’t you just ask me to install surveillance cameras on every single player?"

Shi Zhile actually gave it a moment of serious thought.

’If Jiang Yuxing were really that obedient, she might actually consider that option.’

Seeing the serious look on her face, Jiang Yuxing actually laughed out of exasperation.

"You were actually considering it? Shi Zhile, you’re really something else.

I’ve reminded you before not to rely too much on your space. Now I’m reminding you again: don’t rely too much on my energy either.

Improving your own abilities is the top priority."

Shi Zhile nodded seriously, a renewed sense of caution rising within her.
