Chapter 917: The artificial garden
[Eon’s POV: ]
“Do you know if the members of Roxanna are here yet?”
{ “I cannot comment on that. We don’t know who will be attending the conference besides the people that are assigned to.” }
Well, he surely knew who was going to attend, that much I had already figured out over the last few days he had been around us. But he couldn’t say anything about it– which means even the guides are bound by the established truths.
“Then, can we look around the garden before going through that door? Or do we have to pass through that door?”
{ “Oh, that is something you do not have to worry about. Now that you have arrived at the site, you can look around if you want.
Though, the Grand conference will commence tomorrow at dawn so we suggest you take some rest and do the needful.” }
By needful he meant the preparation for the conference– and the fact that he even did not say anything about it means they cannot speak about the presentations of the conference either.
’I know the two of us will be doing the main presentations this time around, but even the two of us have no idea when we will be presenting or who will be presenting before us.’
No one knows about that until the conference starts and they are called for their presentations according to what mom told us, so it seems like we will only know more about the others when the conference actually starts.
“I see. Then, I will be looking around for everyone. You can go ahead if you want.”
The way we travelled through so many different kinds of places was not simple. The different kinds of terrains and the various atmospheres that we went through definitely affected even the strong bodies of our grandparents.
Mom was tired already, and Rein’s mom and dad were the most tired here.
They were physically the weakest ones since they did not possess any special kind of powers like our grandparents or a natural resistance skill like mom.
’They were being protected by our grandpas Aura so they were able to endure most of it. And thanks to our grandmothers, they were able to keep up with the rest of us.’
They were special people if they were going to this grand conference with us, but they did not have a special physique like the rest of us.
Comparatively, they were more normal than the rest of us.
“How can you still have any energy darling…”
Mom was really tired. And she just wanted to take some potions and have a good long rest.
A long and tiresome battle will start for all of us from tomorrow so she has to be in her best condition.
“Well, I didn’t use skills like you mom.”
She had some very special skills. Actually, all the skills she had were either very rare, or very special.
All of her unique skills and the special effects she gets from all her special artifacts and that unique ’bracelet’ on one side, the flying skill, the natural resistance skill, the skill to recover even in the harsh conditions and her sustain skill used up a lot of energy.
’She did not have an energy core so the energy that was used up when she used these skills was the natural energy of her body– not life force, but the energy that drives one and helps one in their daily lives.’
We can call it her total stamina as well, so, if she was using all those skills with her limited energy, she was obviously going to be dead tired.
’Thankfully, she will miraculously be in top condition by dawn thanks to her skills.’
I did not have to worry about her, but just like Rein, I was worried about her parents and my future in-laws.
“I will be fine here, so grandma, please look after mom.”
When we cross that door and go below this fake garden, we will be in another unique space created for only the conference.
I wasn’t interested in that place since I know it’s not going to be anything special.
Instead of the indoor things, I was more interested in this fake garden and the dorm that’s covering us right now.
That was one hell of a masterpiece…
“Don’t wander around too much, Eon. Elle, please look after him or else he will go and do something crazy.
Don’t worry about these two, we will look after them.”
Grandmother knew if I was staying behind, there would undoubtedly be some deep reason behind it.
And whatever that deep reason might be, the chances of me getting into some kind of trouble were as high one can imagine.
“Of course I will stay behind. I know that look he has right now… he wants to go around and check something that he found interesting.”
“Oh?”
They could not tell I was after something, but I could not deceive Rein’s eyes anymore. She can see things that they cannot.
The main reason she was invited along with me was not because he was a witch, the representative of atraxia, or because she was different from the normal witches– she had a very special skill.
And that one skill alone was the reason she got the invitation to be in this special conference.
“Alright then. You can go now. We also have Mr. Crow with us so I don’t think there will be any trouble.”
She was worried about the whole conference and how things would go, she was worried about her parents, and above that, she was worried about me.
She was going to stick as close to me for as long as this conference would go on since she knew just how difficult this whole thing would be, and I am always grateful for everything she does for me.
“Don’t do something foolish. Both of you.”
“Be careful, mom.”
“You dumb…”
She knew I was after something. Something that was not going to be good or right.
But she knew she wouldn’t be able to stop something too crazy even if she wanted to.
“Alright then.”
They are gone now, and the staff inside will guide them to their rooms.
Mr. Crow was still here since we were still outside. His duty would end when we got in, but until then he was still our guide.
“So, mister Crow… why is it that we travelled all the way from the empire to the edge of the western continent, went all the way to the east– just to ultimately end up on the western continent once again? Why travel so much?”
{ “…?” }
“Oh, don’t be too surprised. It’s easy to tell this is west.”
This whole place was covered in a very special dorm that acted as a defensive dorm, a protective shield, an illusion, as well as something that kept the outsider things outside.
It was made with very, very complex methods. Even Lucy would need many days, perhaps months to completely analyse this thing.
And I can tell it was made to conceal the outside environment. But, they should have done a better job on the inside. ƒгeewёbnovel.com
“The great forest of Kamut produces a very special wavelength of Mana that one can feel throughout the western continent.
It’s different from the normal environmental Mana since it is not only more potent but also more Raw than any other kind of Mana on this continent.”
I had not travelled throughout the continent but I have still been to many places and I could still feel the presence of the great forest, the direction that it is in, and the connection I have with the tower house that my master has left behind for us.
’I’ve been able to feel the presence of the great forest ever since I came back from there.’
Perhaps it’s because I had lived in that environment for so many years or perhaps it’s because of something else, but I can feel it throughout the western continent.
“The soil here was restored and replaced, but one can still not change the nature of the earth completely.”
They tried it, but they did not do a very good job with it.
“Thanks to Celes, I looked around this place a little more.”
I looked up, in a certain direction beyond the artificial sky above us.
“And I found something pretty interesting.”
This dorm is very good but they are still using artifacts, magic engineering equipment, and even high arrays to maintain it.
’It was made so well that it had natural self sustaining properties. But the fact that they still needed to use it meant something out there was destroying this shield constantly on the micro level.’
The cooling properties that the shield had indicated they were trying to resist as much heat as possible, indicating this place should be in some very hot area.
“Knowing you, you would have chosen a place that was the most secure as well as somewhere the demonic humans would need to prepare a lot to invade, and if we talk about a hot place like that in the west, there is only one primordial volcano that comes to mind.”
Dhargni.
This place used to be the house of one of the few old dragons when my master was still around in the outside world. It wasn’t just a rumour.
“Can I go and have a look around, headmaster?”
Mr. Crow was confused where I was looking since he could not see beyond the dorm either.
Not that I could see past it, the illusion was just too strong, but, I can sense the centre of this illusion even though it was faint.
And that much was more than enough.
{ “You never fail to surprise me, you damn boy.” }
A voice laughed from somewhere above us… and at the same time, a star fell down to us from beyond the artificial sky.
