Is Your Armor Legal
Chapter 86 Shadow, Non-Human
Chapter 86: Chapter 86: Shadow, Non-Human
Through online searches, Feng Yin confirmed that Celestial Essence Country enforced extremely high levels of environmental protection. Even inside and around top-tier metropolises like Coastal City, the forest coverage rate was remarkably high.
He also learned from recent local news that wild boars were running rampant in the deep mountains of Coastal City’s suburbs. They frequently came down from the mountains to destroy crops in suburban villages, even causing several incidents of injury and death. Even the government was offering bounties for Hunters to cull them.
This suited his intentions perfectly. Feng Yin prepared to act as an illegal Hunter. Since the wild boars were a plague anyway, no one would care if he killed them without taking their ears as proof to claim the bounty at the Sanitation Bureau.
Moreover, these dark, ancient forests late at night were vastly different from the bustling Coastal City. If he operated here, he could freely summon his Manifestation Armor without worrying about being discovered. Even if someone had a death wish and came out into the wilderness late at night, they would only mistake him for a hallucination or some kind of Wild Beast if they happened to catch a glimpse.
Feng Yin looked around and slipped behind a large tree in the forest. When he emerged, his body was covered in pitch-black Armor with glowing scarlet patterns around the eyes.
The Wolf Armor had reappeared.
Looking at his vision, which was now as clear as day, a smile crept onto Feng Yin’s face beneath the visor. It was time to hurry into the mountains.
SLASH!
The Canfeng Sword slashed down viciously, severing the head of a massive, fierce wild boar with black fur and protruding tusks.
THUD.
The boar’s headless corpse collapsed limply to the ground as copious amounts of blood gushed out, pooling all over the dirt.
[Ten targets killed. Traits ’Bloodthirst’ triggered.]
[Durability: 14/20 -> 16/20]
Two lines of information popped up in his field of vision. Feng Yin lowered his sword and looked down, his eyes gleaming with satisfaction as the blood on the blade and his Armor was absorbed in an instant. Just as he had expected, killing non-human creatures could also activate the Bloodthirsty Traits of his Wolf Slaughter Form.
However, there seemed to be certain limitations. Including this large boar at his feet, he had found and killed a total of fourteen wild boars tonight. Among them were ten adult boars and Four piglets. This meant that those Four small boars were not recognized as "enemies" by the Armor. Even though he killed them, they did not count toward the kill requirement for the Bloodthirsty Traits.
He guessed the Judgment was based on either size or weight. It was also possible that it depended on Attributes like the target’s threat level. Regardless, he had finally confirmed a method to recover his health in reality without having to kill humans.
Next, Feng Yin leaped up into a large tree and glanced at the moon, noticing that its position had shifted significantly since he first set out. He had achieved the goal of his experiment, and it was about time to head back.
The next moment, Feng Yin bounded forward, sprinting across the treetops of the quiet mountain forest as he headed straight back down the mountain in the direction he had come from.
A long time passed.
A hoarse, gurgling GROWL echoed from the gloomy forest. A figure that resembled both a human and a Wild Beast slowly crawled out. It approached the dead boar’s corpse, quickly burying its head to greedily drink the coagulating blood.
By the time Feng Yin returned to his apartment, the wall clock indicated it was already 2:00 AM.
He did a quick mental calculation of the time. He had left the apartment for his night run around Seven o’clock, reached the suburbs by nine, and now he was back. Subtracting the time spent running the marathon-like distance back and forth, he had spent roughly three hours actually searching the mountains and wiping out two sounders of wild boars.
For him right now, this was an acceptable price to pay. After all, he still had two days before his next "entry." If he killed another twenty large boars tomorrow night, he would have plenty of time to fully restore his Armor’s Durability. Then, when he "entered the game" again, he would be in peak condition to face that particularly difficult enemy from his memories.
The following night.
Feng Yin returned to the deep mountains in the suburbs once again. If an ordinary human were to wander deep into a forest like this, the environment alone could trap them until they died, let alone encountering wild boars, bears, or tigers. But for Feng Yin, who had transformed with the Wolf Armor and possessed astonishing athletic abilities, navigating the terrain was as easy as walking on flat ground.
He darted through the towering trees. Relying on the enhanced, acute senses provided by his Armor, he quickly located a sounder of wild boars huddled together in their sleep.
"Even though this world has a large population, its development isn’t scattered. The natural spaces haven’t been heavily encroached upon, so the environment for wildlife is actually quite good," Feng Yin pondered as he crouched on a high branch, looking down at the beasts below.
He wasn’t sure about other countries, but at least in Celestial Essence—despite being a superpower with a population of a billion—its zoning methods were vastly different from those on Earth. Its vast territory was not dotted with countless cities of varying sizes. Instead, it primarily developed into high-density population hubs, where each massive city was surrounded by a ring of satellite cities. This created an ecological balance where every city was highly prosperous, yet the natural landscapes outside them were perfectly preserved.
In fact, he had seen more than just wild boars in these deep mountains; he had also spotted a few scattered Wild Beasts resembling jackals, wolves, tigers, and leopards. However, since he didn’t know if they were protected or endangered species, he refrained from hunting them.
Amid his thoughts, the Canfeng Sword in Feng Yin’s hand transformed into the Dragon Slayer Spear. His figure then silently dropped from the tree, pinning a sleeping boar to the ground, killing it instantly.
The thrashing sounds it made before dying woke the rest of the sounder. Before these wild boars were fully awake, Feng Yin was already sprinting forward with his spear drawn. With inhuman strength and terrifying precision, he executed another Thrust, piercing straight through the body of another large boar in a single strike.
It let out a shrill squeal, completely jolting the entire wild boar clan awake. The piglets scattered in panic. As for the other adult boars, it was unclear whether they were trying to protect their young or if their intelligence was simply too low. Instead of running away, they all kicked up their hooves and charged headlong at Feng Yin.
Feng Yin didn’t care about their intentions. The hunt had just begun.
He violently yanked his spear free and quickly locked onto his next target. With another lunging Thrust, he launched the wild boar—which weighed at least one to two hundred kilograms—flying into the air.
The next moment, an equally robust wild boar hurtled toward him at a Speed of over a dozen meters per second. Feng Yin steadily swung his spear, smacking it firmly and deflecting the beast to the side with a single blow. While the boar stumbled, the Sharp tip of his spear suddenly pierced its skull.
Gripping the Dragon Slayer Spear with both hands, Feng Yin unleashed the basic spear combat techniques he had learned from his online searches.
Parry, trap, and Thrust.
Parrying and trapping were for defense, while the Thrust was for offense. The entire fundamental routine emphasized guarding the centerline and seamlessly transitioning between offense and defense. This allowed him to fully utilize the reach advantage of his long spear.
Based on Feng Yin’s own observations, the Gun Blade of the Dragon Slayer Spear was very long and clearly suited for chopping and slashing. However, mastering the most crucial Thrust was more than enough for now.
Just like that, taking a wild boar’s life with every Thrust, Feng Yin quickly slaughtered the entire sounder. For a time, chaotic noises echoed throughout the wilderness.
Meanwhile, nearby in the deep mountains, a figure resembling both a human and a Wild Beast suddenly lifted its head. Its long, furry ears twitched rapidly as it pinpointed the direction of the boars’ agonized squeals. Its faint green pupils gleamed under the moonlight filtering through the trees, revealing a look of bloodthirsty excitement.
