Is Your Armor Legal
Chapter 58 Forced to Land on the Island
Chapter 58: Chapter 58: Forced to Land on the Island
As he spoke, the guard noticed the numerous bodies of his colleagues littering the corridor. All of them had been cleanly severed by a Sharp Blade. Combined with the Katana in Ya Lie’s hands right before his eyes, the situation was self-evident.
Reacting with blinding speed, the guard moved to pull the trigger before Ya Lie could even answer. However, before his index finger could so much as twitch, Ya Lie’s feet shifted. He blurred to the other side of the corridor like a phantom. The guard immediately swung his muzzle around and squeezed the trigger.
RAT-TAT-TAT-TAT!
Muzzle flash lit up the corridor as a barrage of bullets poured out. A terrifying scene unfolded before the guard’s eyes. Ya Lie’s figure blurred. His rapidly shifting steps left a long string of afterimages in his wake as he zigzagged across the floor and darted right up the wall. The bullets chased close behind him, but they couldn’t catch up to his Speed at all.
In a single breath, Ya Lie pushed off the wall and vaulted forward. He swung his blade as he dashed past the frantically firing guard.
SLASH!
The guard jolted, utter terror flooding his eyes as his upper body slowly slid away from his lower half. Right before he lost consciousness, he heard Ya Lie’s manic laughter.
"Trash. You can’t even move your gun fast enough to keep up with me.
"Pray for a better next life."
Still taunting the dead man, Ya Lie flicked the blood off his blade and sheathed it without looking back. He then grabbed the specialized walkie-talkie clipped to his waist. "Adam, I just killed a lab guard."
Adam’s voice crackled through the radio. "Copy that. These guards appearing on the surface means the lab’s security forces have been diverted. Our people can make their move now." The voice then took on a teasing tone. "A bit later, there might be an opportunity to go kill that precious daughter of the Xuan Guang Group. Do you want in?"
Ya Lie touched his blood-soaked chest, feeling the fresh, bleeding gash stretching across his torso. A manic grin spread across his pale, bloodless face. "I’ll pass this time. I need to take a good rest for a while."
"Haha," Adam laughed. "Sounds like the organization’s most arrogant and defiant slasher actually suffered a major setback on this little Border Prison Island. I wonder which master managed to do that?"
Ya Lie sneered. "A monster wearing Black Armor. If he doesn’t die prematurely, he might just become a soaring Radiant Dragon."
"There’s never been anyone who could earn that kind of praise from you," Adam noted.
Ya Lie ignored him, simply turning around and leaving the bloody scene.
Aboard the cruise ship.
Hiding inside the suite, Feng Yin listened as the drone gunfire that had been ravaging the outside world for the past few minutes finally died down. He turned to look at the others. Xie Jingyuan’s expression was grave, yet he maintained an air of perfect composure. Xie Yanran and Hong Yuan were tense, positioned on either side of the tightly sealed door.
Xie Yanran’s face was chillingly cold. She held her sword in her right hand, its tip trembling slightly like a venomous Snake flicking its tongue. Hong Yuan’s muscles bulged. His right arm was immobilized in a sling, so he gripped a three-foot-long fish-head blade in his left hand, his face practically radiating ferocity.
The most relaxed person among them was actually Xiao Yu. She seemed entirely unfazed by the situation, happily munching on an apple-like fruit in her hands.
"NOM NOM, Master," Xiao Yu mumbled, her round cheeks bulging as she chewed. She looked at Xie Jingyuan. "The gunfire outside stopped. Did those drones run out of bullets?"
Xie Jingyuan calmly shook his head. "Whether they are out of bullets or not, do not go outside until this situation is resolved."
"Oh." Xiao Yu tugged at Feng Yin, who was sitting next to her. "Eldest Junior Brother, you don’t have to be nervous.
"The people from Zero Point said that once this suite goes into full lockdown, not even a grenade could blow it open."
Feng Yin shook his head gently. "I’m not nervous. With Master here, there are probably very few people in this world who could break in and live to tell the tale."
Beside him, Xie Jingyuan shook his head. "There is always a higher mountain, Feng Yin. You don’t need to say such things in the future. Not only are there people stronger than your master, but there are actually quite a few."
Feng Yin wondered what level someone stronger than the Ultimate Level could possibly be, and what extraordinary abilities they might possess. He nodded and didn’t say anything else. Now was not the time to ask about such things.
Suddenly, Xiao Yu’s phone rang. She glanced at the screen, answered the call, and put it on speaker. Her voice instantly shifted, becoming elegant and intellectual. "Hello, this is Chen Yu."
Feng Yin glanced at her screen. The caller ID read "Simon."
"Ms. Chen Yu, I am so glad to hear your voice." Over the phone, Simon let out a long sigh of relief.
Frankly, in Simon’s eyes, the entire ship of VIPs couldn’t compare to Chen Yu’s importance. If the others died in a terrorist attack, it would, at worst, deal a blow to the Zero Point Consortium’s stock prices and reputation. But if Chen Yu died, it would jeopardize the impending comprehensive partnership between their two groups. If that joint project succeeded, it possessed the potential to revolutionize the entire world. And, as luck would have it, the key to that technology was held entirely by the Xuan Guang Group.
Hearing Simon’s words, Xiao Yu spoke in a cool tone. "Mr. Simon, my father only sent me on this vacation because he trusted the Zero Point Consortium. Yet, I’ve ended up in this dangerous situation. What do you think I should do?"
"This attack was entirely the result of terrorist hackers infiltrating our drone System," Simon explained calmly. "Our technical department has already regained control. You are safe now.
"However, I sincerely apologize for the fright this has caused you and your companions."
Xiao Yu’s voice remained even. "Mr. Simon, did you call just to apologize?"
Simon seemed to hesitate for a moment. "I received a message from Mr. Chen, and I have already arranged for personnel to deploy a smaller vessel..."
Xie Jingyuan abruptly interjected. "How long until the boat gets here?"
"Traveling at full speed from the nearest island, Dahe Island, it will take about six hours," Simon replied.
Xie Jingyuan frowned. "That’s too long. It would have been acceptable before the chaos broke out, but now that a terrorist attack has occurred, every passing second we stay is another second of danger. Mr. Simon, you must have other means of evacuating us."
Simon paused again. "We have helicopters available for evacuation. However, I must emphasize that the situation is basically under control now. Waiting inside your secure suite is a much more—"
BOOM!
A faint tremor, accompanied by a deafening roar, exploded from outside, cutting Simon off. The next moment, the captain’s panicked voice echoed through the public address system in the hallway outside their room.
"The ship’s hull has been struck by high-explosive bombs! Will all VIPs still aboard please evacuate the vessel and head for the island immediately!"
The broadcast repeated on a loop.
Over the blaring announcement, Xie Jingyuan spoke coldly into the phone. "Mr. Simon, arrange for escorts and transport to the pier immediately. We are evacuating the ship and heading for the island!"
Simon audibly inhaled deeply before giving a swift reply. "Understood. Please protect Ms. Chen Yu, Mr. Xie. Our personnel will be there momentarily!"
The call disconnected.
Xie Jingyuan looked at the group and issued rapid-fire orders. "Grab your personal belongings. Leave anything that will slow you down. We’re getting off this ship."
"Yay!" Xiao Yu’s eyes lit up, and she instantly perked up.
It was as if this girl feared absolutely nothing in this world; the mere mention of danger seemed to invigorate her. Feng Yin strapped his sword to his back and grabbed the transparent Explosion-Proof Shield that was supposedly bulletproof. Xie Yanran and Hong Yuan geared up similarly.
"Let’s move." Aside from his own sword, Xie Jingyuan took nothing else. Seeing that everyone was ready, he promptly gave the command.
Under Xie Jingyuan’s lead, the group—including Xiao Yu’s two attendants—opened the door and marched out.
Outside the door, the swarm of drones that had previously filled the sky had been entirely recalled by the Zero Point Group. It appeared that their biggest threat had indeed been eliminated.
