Invincible through Touching Corpses

Chapter 759 - 729: Executing the Plan

Everyone had assumed that since Lin Xinghai was taking on the most difficult task—killing the Mutated Zombies—he would take at least half the rewards, even if not the largest share.

But no one had expected Lin Xinghai to ask for only thirty percent.

A single thought couldn’t help but surface in everyone’s mind: ’This is far too generous.’

Soon, another person raised his hand. "Captain Lin, I have a question."

He looked a little sheepish, but he asked anyway, "I’d like to ask, about the thirty percent cut you take after a mission is completed... is that a fixed rate?"

"For example, we’re a Second Level Team. If we were to take on some of the more difficult tasks, well..."

He trailed off, too embarrassed to continue.

But everyone else understood immediately.

After all, even for missions of the same Level, the Points awarded could vary drastically depending on the difficulty.

For example, the rewards for Second Level Tasks ranged from 10,000 to 50,000 Points, and the difficulty, of course, varied just as much.

Some missions only had a chance of a Mutated Zombie appearing, while for others, their appearance was guaranteed.

Furthermore, even when dealing with Mutated Zombies, the difficulty varied immensely depending on the type. For instance, the difference in difficulty between fighting a Spitter and a Death Claw was probably tenfold.

Without a doubt, if Lin Xinghai took his cut based purely on the final reward, without considering the initial difficulty, then everyone would likely start taking on the hardest missions. After all, once Lin Xinghai killed the Mutated Zombie, even the most difficult task would become incredibly easy.

Yet the total Points they earned would be worlds apart.

Hearing this question, Lin Xinghai smiled. "Don’t worry. No matter what difficulty the mission is, I will only take a thirty percent cut of the reward."

"However, you still need to know your limits when accepting missions. As I said before, I will arrive within ten minutes. But there’s a huge difference in the level of danger you’ll face if I arrive in one minute versus ten minutes."

"If you take on a mission that’s beyond your capabilities and can’t even survive for ten minutes, then don’t blame me when you die."

"Also, Fourth Level Mutated Zombies are beyond my ability to help with."

Lin Xinghai was very serious toward the end, but the faces of the crowd were all smiles. They only cared about the first part of his statement.

This was simply too good a deal for them.

Take a Second Level Team, for example. They might have originally only been able to take on missions worth ten or twenty thousand Points. But now, with Lin Xinghai’s promise, they instantly dared to set their sights on Second Level Tasks worth forty or fifty thousand Points.

In that scenario, they would make a huge profit even if he took more than half the reward, let alone just thirty percent.

After all, without the threat of the Mutated Zombie, clearing out the Abyssal Creatures would still be a hassle for most teams, but it would only be a hassle. They could definitely complete missions two or three times faster.

And with Lin Xinghai only taking a thirty percent cut, each team’s earnings could easily increase four- or five-fold compared to before.

As for Lin Xinghai’s warning, they didn’t really pay it much mind. ’If you can’t even last ten minutes, it’s your own fault if you die.’

And if they ran into a Fourth Level Mutated Zombie, well, that was just bad luck.

In that situation, it wouldn’t matter if Lin Xinghai came to help or not; it would be useless. A typical team would be wiped out in a minute or two against a Fourth Level Mutated Zombie.

Besides, the military now had the upper hand, and it was much harder for Fourth Level Mutated Zombies to leave the core area. The probability of encountering one was much lower than it had been at the start.

It would be foolish not to take a risk under these circumstances.

The crowd asked a few more questions, all of which Lin Xinghai answered.

Finally, Lin Xinghai pulled Little Fatty and Guan An onto the stage.

"I’ve set up a temporary command post, and these two are in charge. Each team will be issued a high-powered communication device. You can report any problems you encounter to the command post, and they will handle them immediately."

"Additionally, to improve our academy’s overall efficiency, the command post will also coordinate your assignments to a certain extent. As long as the orders from the command post don’t endanger your personal safety, I expect you to follow them. If you can’t, I’ll remove you from the program."

"If you’re willing to join this plan, please stay. If not, you are free to leave."

After he finished speaking, Lin Xinghai left the stage to Little Fatty and Guan An.

Not a single person below the stage left. Were they kidding? Only a true fool would walk away from such a great opportunity.

Of course, all of this hinged on one premise: that Lin Xinghai truly had the ability to single-handedly take care of all the Mutated Zombies, just as he claimed.

If anyone else had said such a thing, no one would have believed them. But the things Lin Xinghai had accomplished over the past two days were each more sensational than the last.

This made the people present willing to give him a certain degree of trust.

At least, until there was proof that Lin Xinghai couldn’t deliver, they were more inclined to believe he could.

And if it turned out he couldn’t? They wouldn’t lose much. At worst, they could just quit after a single mission.

Meanwhile, Little Fatty and Guan An, whom Lin Xinghai had pulled onto the stage, quickly got into their roles.

Seeing that no one had left, Little Fatty clapped his hands and called for the team captains below to come up to the stage and register.

Each time a captain finished registering, Little Fatty would have a maintenance team from the Hongyu Group bring over a high-powered communication device and install it on their Armored Vehicle.

This move alone from Little Fatty significantly boosted the crowd’s confidence.

Anyone with a discerning eye could tell that the devices Little Fatty was providing were all military-grade communication equipment—and the enhanced versions, at that.

This wasn’t something you could get just by having money.

More importantly, Little Fatty had managed to call in a full thirty maintenance teams at once. Under the current circumstances, even the military would have a hard time mustering so many teams on short notice.

It was safe to say that the people from East Sea Academy were seeing Little Fatty in a new light, realizing the terrifying extent of his resource channels.

Guan An wasn’t idle, either. He had someone set up a large screen that scrolled through all the available missions in their area.

He had all the captains pre-select missions with him before registering, which he then used for coordination and assignments.

After all, some missions were highly sought-after, and many teams were clamoring for them. In this situation, they couldn’t afford to set up a tournament stage for people to compete, like they did at the Mission Hall.

That would be too time-consuming and would hinder future command and control. So, whenever this happened, they would directly assign a specific team to the mission.

This was bound to cause some dissatisfaction, but with Lin Xinghai backing them up, the teams had no choice but to swallow their complaints.

And just like that, Lin Xinghai used his personal authority to unite all the academy’s teams into a single, cohesive force.
