Invincible through Touching Corpses
Chapter 625 - 601: Celestial Thunder Strike
At Lin Xinghai’s command, the members of the Xinghai Squad wasted no time, springing into action.
They leaped nimbly into the vehicles. The two modified Armored Vehicles immediately roared to life, their custom engines letting out a deep, powerful growl. The two behemoths, each weighing at least 50 tons, shot forward with astonishing speed.
All teams on emergency rescue missions had special privileges. This authority was directly linked to the Military Department’s AI system, so any checkpoints along their route would automatically grant them passage.
In the blink of an eye, the two behemoths burst out of the military base.
Once outside the base, they had even fewer restraints. With the pedal to the metal, the Speed of both Armored Vehicles easily surpassed 300 kilometers per hour.
Of course, a major reason they could reach such high speeds was that the military had already cleared all obstacles from the streets.
Unlike other cities, the roads here weren’t littered with abandoned vehicles and collapsed buildings.
Of course, even without these obstacles, travel wouldn’t normally be this easy. They could run into zombie hordes or Abyssal Creatures at any moment.
If their luck was bad, they might even run straight into a few Mutated Zombies.
However, while those might pose a threat to an ordinary team, they were hardly a match for these two modified behemoths.
BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM!
A rapid series of impacts rang out as a hundred-strong zombie horde charged recklessly toward the Armored Vehicles.
Regardless of their Level, any Zombie hit by the hard, sharp ram was either instantly sliced in two or sent flying with shattered bones and torn sinews.
Lin Xinghai stood by the window, silently observing. He could see five Abyssal Corpse Ghosts hidden within the horde; they were the ones directing the charge.
Upon realizing a frontal assault was futile, the Abyssal Corpse Ghosts immediately circled to the sides, gathering their strength and preparing to attack.
Lin Xinghai’s gaze then shifted to the space between two large buildings up ahead, where a dense spiderweb was strung. The Armored Vehicles would either have to smash through it or make an emergency stop and find a detour.
But either choice would force the vehicles to slow down, creating the perfect opportunity for the five Abyssal Corpse Ghosts to strike.
’Their intelligence is already on par with a typical Mutated Zombie,’ Lin Xinghai mused. ’An ordinary team would be in serious trouble if they ran into this.’
But they were no ordinary team.
RUMBLE!
The two Armored Vehicles showed no sign of slowing down. In fact, their engines roared even louder as they plunged headfirst into the spiderweb ahead.
In an instant, every strand of the web pulled taut, each one like a sturdy cable trying to halt the Armored Vehicles.
The Speed of the Armored Vehicles did indeed plummet, dropping from over 300 km/h to just over 200 km/h in a flash.
A standard Armored Vehicle might have actually been stopped in its tracks.
Unfortunately for the web-spinners, these were the two Armored Vehicles that Little Fatty had modified regardless of cost. They were double the size of a standard model. A 50-ton behemoth moving at 300 km/h generated an impact force that was simply immense.
The next moment, some strands snapped outright. Others held on stubbornly, but the walls they were anchored to couldn’t withstand the tremendous force and simply collapsed.
As for the five Abyssal Corpse Ghosts, their timing was perfect. The moment the vehicles decelerated, they rushed in from the sides, attempting to use the opportunity to ram the Armored Vehicles and knock them over.
But they were met by the Vibrating Blades concealed in the vehicles’ hulls.
The moment they made impact, the AI system instantly deployed the Vibrating Blades, shredding the Abyssal Corpse Ghosts to pieces before they could even react.
Of course, during the impacts, Lin Xinghai could clearly feel their Armored Vehicle shudder violently five times.
Clearly, that was the only impact the Abyssal Corpse Ghosts managed to have on them.
Lin Xinghai knew, however, that this was only because their Armored Vehicle was heavy enough. A standard Armored Vehicle, if rammed repeatedly by five Abyssal Corpse Ghosts, could very well have been knocked onto its side.
After all, he could tell from the vibrations alone that the Power of these Abyssal Corpse Ghosts was comparable to that of a Blood Qi Realm Early Stage Martial Artist.
That was a terrifying amount of Power. If an ordinary soldier were to let one of these Abyssal Corpse Ghosts get close, they would have virtually no chance of survival.
Of course, just because these Abyssal Corpse Ghosts possessed the Power of a Blood Qi Realm Early Stage, it didn’t mean their combat prowess was on the same level.
After all, they lacked weapons and equipment, had no Blood Qi Power, and certainly didn’t have Superpowers or Special Physiques.
Even so, Lin Xinghai’s expression turned grim. He knew that forget ordinary troops—even a squad like theirs, composed entirely of Blood Qi Realm experts, wouldn’t dare get surrounded by Abyssal Corpse Ghosts.
He recalled that in the past, when facing zombie tides, they were never afraid of being surrounded. After all, even if a High Level Zombie got close, a Blood Qi Realm Martial Artist could simply kick it away.
