Invincible through Touching Corpses
Chapter 615 - 596: Accepting the Mission
As far as Liu Miaomiao and Little Fatty were concerned, if there was any student at East Sea Academy who could turn the current situation around, it was undoubtedly Lin Xinghai.
In their minds, even the senior students at East Sea Academy who had reached the Peak of Body Shaping Realm were no match for Lin Xinghai.
This belief was born from the countless miracles Lin Xinghai had performed.
Now, hearing Lin Xinghai tell them not to worry—just that one simple sentence—both Liu Miaomiao and Little Fatty instantly felt a sense of relief.
"Hehe, with you on the job, Boss, we’re sure to turn the tide of battle," Little Fatty quickly chimed in, laying on the flattery.
Lin Xinghai didn’t say much more and simply led the two of them away.
Their departure went completely unnoticed.
After all, more than half the people here were Body Shaping Realm powerhouses, and their attention was focused on those who were already on the Points leaderboard. Why would they pay any mind to a few minor students from the Blood Qi Realm?
Besides, many of the fourth-year students had started their internships with the Military Department early on. They might have heard Lin Xinghai’s name, but very few had ever actually seen him.
After leaving, Lin Xinghai didn’t take them directly to the Mission Hall established by the Military Department to accept a mission.
Most of the missions inside were time-sensitive, usually involving support, reinforcement, or garrison duties. Once accepted, you basically had to depart immediately. If the support was late, the mission could fail outright.
For some missions, even if you left right away, an unexpected incident at the front lines could still cause the mission to fail.
Therefore, when faced with these race-against-time missions, Lin Xinghai had no intention of accepting any until Little Fatty’s Armored Vehicles arrived.
Of course, they didn’t just stand around idly. They first took a trip to the armory, where weapons could be purchased directly with Huaxia Coins or exchanged for Points.
If you used Points, they were considered spent. This was something typically only done by students who had no hope of climbing the leaderboard.
Of course, if the Points weren’t used, they would automatically be converted into Merit at the end of the league, so the students on the leaderboard wouldn’t lose out.
The three of them entered the armory, a massive building with a floor area of 3,000 square meters. It had just about every kind of weapon imaginable. If you had enough money, you could even buy a Rare Level Mecha right here.
Of course, the price was considerably higher than what you’d find elsewhere. Moreover, these Rare Level Mechas were all unmodified prototypes, a far cry from the fully modified, high-spec version Little Fatty was bringing.
Even so, seeing the dazzling array of various weapons was quite an eye-opener for Lin Xinghai.
The place was definitely crowded. It wasn’t just students from the various academies; support teams from all the bases also came here to purchase weapons and ammunition. As a result, the armory was absolutely bustling with people.
Lin Xinghai led them on a quick tour. After getting a general idea of the weapons, equipment, and ammunition available, they left.
Next, they browsed through several other functional areas, such as the mechanical repair zone, the medical bay, and the Cultivation Resource exchange area.
Time passed quickly as the three of them wandered around, until Little Fatty suddenly spoke up, "Boss, the delivery personnel from Hongyu Group just sent me a message. They’re about to arrive."
"Excellent. Let’s go to the Mission Hall and pick up a mission now," Lin Xinghai said with a nod.
The group wasn’t far from the Mission Hall to begin with, and by quickening their pace, they arrived swiftly.
Although the Mission Hall’s footprint couldn’t compare to the armory’s, it still covered nearly a thousand square meters.
Lin Xinghai guessed the reason these buildings were so large was that the entire area was a plain, making construction easy. During the planning phase, all they had to do was draw their plans on a slightly larger scale to ensure ample floor space.
Of course, there was another reason for this: all the buildings here were single-story. If they weren’t so large, they would feel very cramped.
When they went inside, they found quite a few students.
However, many of them wore anxious expressions. Yet even so, none of them were rashly accepting missions; they all seemed to be waiting for something.
The reason was that the missions in the Mission Hall were divided into five Levels. To accept a mission of a certain Level, you had to prove you had the corresponding strength.
This meant that teams lacking sufficient strength had a very limited range of missions to choose from.
Of course, the other, more important reason was that failing a mission would deduct an equal number of Points. Under these circumstances, no one dared to choose a mission carelessly. After all, it was better to do nothing at all than to fail a mission and lose Points.
This led to many people waiting around for a mission they felt was suitable for them.
And whenever a good mission did appear, it was common for several teams to compete for it at the same time.
The Military Department had even set aside an area in the Mission Hall to serve as an arena to resolve such situations. The strongest members of the competing teams would spar, and whoever was stronger would get the mission.
