Chapter 905: Chapter 905: Something Really Happened
At that moment, faint footsteps sounded from outside the door.
She turned her head to look, and saw a servant cautiously pushing open the door, his steps light and expression exceptionally tense.
The servant’s clothing was slightly disheveled, evidently having hurried in from outside.
His eyes carried a hint of panic as he approached Qin Yue in a low and urgent voice, as if worried that speaking too loudly would draw unnecessary attention.
"Miss, Ye Qingchen... something has happened." The servant finally stopped in front of Qin Yue, his voice low and urgent, with obvious anxiety.
Upon hearing that, Qin Yue’s face instantly turned pale, her heart racing abruptly.
She could hardly believe her ears, her eyes widened, and her breathing became rapid.
She stood up, her body trembling slightly, as if struck by a tremendous shock.
Her voice trembled as well: "What did you say? Something happened to Ye Qingchen? What’s going on?"
In Qin Yue’s mind, the image of Ye Qingchen quickly flashed, those past memories now shattered by this sudden news.
Her heart was filled with fear, as if the unexpected news had struck her so hard she could barely stand, her fingers tightly gripping the stone wall by the window in an attempt to steady herself, but the emotions inside proved hard to contain.
Why did this happen?
Could Jiang Qi have been right?
Just then, there was a commotion at the main entrance.
Next, a figure gradually emerged.
It was Jiang Qi.
Jiang Qi walked forward with a composed and confident stride, each step asserting sovereignty over the entire grand hall.
He wore a deep blue brocade robe, with finely embroidered gold threads edging the garment, glimmering coldly in the light.
The gold threads seemed to symbolize his power and status, each line embedded with his desire for power and control.
On Jiang Qi’s face was a smile full of meaning, his eyes slightly lifted, capturing the cold atmosphere of the whole hall within.
As he stepped into the grand hall, the servants and guards standing around all lowered their heads, avoiding his gaze.
The atmosphere within the hall grew even heavier with his arrival, as if all the air had been compressed into an intangible pressure by him.
Jiang Qi’s gaze was stern, as he glanced around like inspecting his own domain, then his focus landed on Qin Yue.
Qin Yue sat curled up on a small chair, pale and anxious.
The emergence of Jiang Qi cast another cold shadow over her heart already submerged in a dark abyss.
And his smile resembled a sharp blade, slicing through every fragile part deep within Qin Yue’s heart.
Jiang Qi’s stance before Qin Yue resembled a cold-blooded leopard, searching for the final struggle of his prey.
"Ah, Miss Qin Yue, what’s the matter?" Jiang Qi’s voice feigned concern, yet was riddled with hypocrisy and deliberate exaggeration.
His tone was lilting and brisk, as if discussing a trivial matter, "Did you hear that Ye Qingchen ran into a small issue, it’s really quite unfortunate. But, I had warned you about this, didn’t I?"
Jiang Qi laughed audaciously, his eyes sparkling with a hint of triumph, as though watching a play of his own meticulous planning unfold.
He cared not for the anguish and distress within Qin Yue’s heart, for in his eyes, it was all self-inflicted by Qin Yue.
He deliberately slowed his speech, emphasizing each word, to intensify his mockery towards Qin Yue.
"Oh, I assumed that the bond between you two would stand firmer." Jiang Qi’s voice carried a tone of provocation, "After all, you seem genuinely saddened by the ’unfortunate’ Ye Qingchen."
Jiang Qi’s laughter echoed within the vast hall, as cold as an icy blade.
His pride and arrogance were laid bare, as though all the spotlight in the grand hall converged solely on him.
That deep sense of superiority made him indifferent to Qin Yue’s plight, treating it instead as a tool for his own amusement.
With each word spoken by Jiang Qi, each glance thrown, he relentlessly excavated the pain lurking deep within Qin Yue, amplifying it.
Stung by Jiang Qi’s words, Qin Yue’s face shifted from pale to angry.
Her eyes reflected a complex emotion, filled with profound concern for Ye Qingchen and boundless disgust and fury toward Jiang Qi.
Qin Yue’s hand clenched tightly into a fist, although her body appeared weak due to her predicament, her spirit became all the more resilient in the face of Jiang Qi’s derision.
Her anger gradually accumulated, seemingly waiting for the right moment to erupt.
Witnessing the change in Qin Yue’s expression, Jiang Qi’s smile grew even more vicious.
He relished this power game, enjoying the thrill of manipulating others’ emotions.
Qin Yue’s anger and anguish were part of his power symbol, and he felt no guilt about it, but rather immense satisfaction.
"No need to get so excited," Jiang Qi said with an air of composure, "After all, some people always have to pay the price for their choices. Hasn’t your Ye Qingchen been well taken care of by me already? Now, it’s up to you to consider how to deal with the situation ahead."
Qin Yue’s anger was almost uncontrollable, her face turned pale with resentment.
Soon, her voice resounded in the grand hall, filled with fierce accusation and denunciation, "Jiang Qi, you are utterly shameless! To handle Ye Qingchen in such a despicable and malicious manner, how can your heart be so ruthless! He’s merely an innocent person, yet you act this way against him, it’s truly heinous!"
Qin Yue’s voice brimming with anger, as if each word carried a stabbing sharpness.
Her gaze was akin to a sharp blade, straight at Jiang Qi’s chest.
She pointed a finger at Jiang Qi, her joints turned white from tension.
Her chest heaved erratically due to her intense emotions, her whole body trembling slightly with rage.
"You even dare to face me so coldly now," Qin Yue said through clenched teeth, "Do you think you can escape your crimes this way? You have absolutely no qualification to stand here and talk strategies and tactics with me. Everything you’ve done is purely for your own power and greed, with no regard for others’ lives or dignity. What did Ye Qingchen do to deserve your treatment? You truly are a cold-blooded monster!"
Listening to Qin Yue’s accusation, a cold smile appeared on Jiang Qi’s face.
His expression was filled with contempt and disdain, as though Qin Yue’s anger was utterly trivial to him.
Jiang Qi mocked and sneered, "Ah, Miss Qin Yue, aren’t you wasting your effort? I merely used some tactics, sinister? Despicable? In my eyes, that’s nothing but routine tricks played out by This Holy Son."
