Invincible Snake Emperor
Chapter 790 - 720: A Floor of Rank Four Corpses
Chapter 790: Chapter 720: A Floor of Rank Four Corpses
’Trying to scare me with a corpse? This guy has really gone to great lengths.’
’He’s probably run out of tricks. He conjured a Black Flood Dragon, only for me to dispose of it so easily.’
Tu Xiao’an stepped over the massive corpse. Perhaps it had been incredibly strong in life, strong enough to crush him with ease, but a corpse was just a corpse.
It was dead. ’Unless you can make it rise from the dead for me to see.’
Afterward, Tu Xiao’an followed at the demonic-looking man’s heels, continuing down the spacious corridor. The path was clear, though it was lined with branching tunnels. ’Just how many rooms and different areas does this stone temple have? I’m guessing only the man in front of me knows.’
After walking for about a kilometer, the corridor began to curve, and a towering stone door came into view.
The stone door was remarkably exquisite, covered in intricate Sanskrit that seemed to hold some profound meaning.
Not that Tu Xiao’an could understand a single character.
The stone door was also massive, exceeding ten meters in both width and height.
The demonic-looking man glanced at the huge door, a cunning smile playing on his lips. Instead of pushing it, he simply plunged headfirst into the stone, leaving Tu Xiao’an completely baffled.
’No pushing? Just using his head? Is he for real?’
But the next moment left Tu Xiao’an utterly dumbfounded. He watched as the demonic-looking man’s body melted directly into the stone door and vanished completely.
’Huh?’
Tu Xiao’an sucked in a deep breath, his eyes widening. ’Could that be the legendary ability to walk through walls?’
’What the hell.’
He was so shocked that was the only phrase that came to mind.
’That’s a trick I don’t know.’
"If you can’t get in, you can only blame your own incompetence," a mocking voice drifted out from within the stone door.
Tu Xiao’an’s brow furrowed. ’A mere stone door thinks it can stop me, the Snake Emperor?’
He clenched a fist, his Heaven Shocking Power surging.
"Break!"
RUMBLE!
The entire corridor quaked as if the world were turning upside down.
But then, Tu Xiao’an’s expression turned to one of shock. The stone door remained, indestructible, as dust and debris rained down from the ceiling.
"This is a special stone door forged in the Ancient Civilization Ruins. Did you really think you could break it with a single punch? Even one of your so-called Rank Four Divine Spirits wouldn’t be able to break it."
The mocking voice drifted out again.
’Ancient Civilization Ruins? He must mean the War Relics.’
’A Rank Four can’t break a simple stone door? That’s some prime-grade bullshit right there.’
Still not convinced, Tu Xiao’an opened his palm. The Heaven Swaying Sword materialized, its hum soaring through the air.
In an instant, a flash of light and the shadow of a blade followed as a shimmering wave of Sword Qi swept out, blanketing the stone door.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Yet where the Sword Qi struck, the stone door remained utterly unfazed, standing as firm as a mountain. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
Now Tu Xiao’an was truly shocked. ’What in the hell is this damn door made of? Even that didn’t work.’
’My Heaven Swaying Sword is becoming less useful by the day. Now it can’t even break a stone door.’
’It’s obvious that demonic-looking man is deliberately trying to make me look like a fool.’
’This is getting tricky.’ Even Tu Xiao’an had to admit he was at a loss. He put the Heaven Swaying Sword away.
Suddenly, an idea struck Tu Xiao’an. ’Since it’s a stone door from the ruins, maybe it requires a Weapon from the ruins to be broken?’
’Heh, I get it.’
With a thought, the long spear he had seized from the Skeleton King appeared in his hand. The image of the Black Dragon on it flickered into view, roaring at him.
"Little Black Dragon, break this door for me, or I’ll personally destroy you along with this spear."
Tu Xiao’an threatened the long spear coldly.
The Black Dragon within the spear immediately trembled in fear.
"Go!"
Tu Xiao’an gripped the long spear and thrust it toward the stone door. ROAR!
The roar of the Black Dragon erupted.
RUMBLE! CRASH!
Tu Xiao’an’s eyes lit up. It broke! The stone door was instantly shattered.
Soon enough, Tu Xiao’an saw the look of astonishment on the demonic-looking man’s face.
He hadn’t expected Tu Xiao’an to break the door so quickly. But when he saw the long spear in his hand, he understood at once, and a disdainful smile curled his lips.
"So, where’s the person I’m here to see?"
Tu Xiao’an demanded immediately.
"What’s the rush? We haven’t reached our destination yet."
"..." Tu Xiao’an was speechless.
’Are you taking me on a damn tour of these ruins?’ He was in no mood for sightseeing.
"Hmph. You’d better not play any more games with me," Tu Xiao’an said coldly as he strode through the gateway.
The moment he stepped inside, Tu Xiao’an couldn’t help but gasp. He was in a massive, semi-circular hall, dozens of meters high and several hundred meters in both length and width. A single glance was enough to tell him the place was grand and opulent.
While it wasn’t as resplendent as the golden halls of the Snake Palace, its sheer, vast size was a victory in itself.
But what shocked Tu Xiao’an most was...!
The hall was littered with corpses of all bizarre shapes and sizes.
It was impossible to tell if they were Human or Demon.
He knew they were corpses because he couldn’t detect the slightest aura of life, not even a single flicker.
Some of the bodies were in the form of Demon Beasts, others were humanoid.
All of them, however, were towering and imposing.
Four corpses in particular, so lifelike they showed no signs of decay, immediately captured Tu Xiao’an’s attention.
Their eyes were wide with fury, a fierce glint still seemingly present in them, and they radiated a terrifying, residual might.
A few other corpses had been reduced to skeletons, but their bones shimmered with a brilliant luster. Though their flesh and hair had long turned to ash, they had clearly been first-rate experts in life.
Tu Xiao’an ignored the demonic-looking man and carefully examined the corpses littering the floor. The man, for his part, remained silent.
He let Tu Xiao’an take his time.
He noticed that many of the corpses looked similar to the behemoth he had seen back in the entrance tunnel. They were perhaps slightly smaller, but their builds resembled those of giant chimpanzees, standing around six meters tall.
One corpse was slumped in a half-kneeling position on the floor. Its Battle Armor was shattered, and its body was covered in gruesome wounds that, impossibly, showed no signs of decay.
Others wore no Battle Armor, their bodies instead protected by a full covering of scales. Tu Xiao’an felt that even his own Snake Scales were slightly inferior to theirs.
Just a brief glance was enough to leave Tu Xiao’an astonished. These were all first-class experts. As for their exact power, he had no way of knowing.
But the demonic-looking man beside him spoke calmly, "The Cultivation of every one of these corpses was Rank Four or higher. They were all unwelcome guests who broke in long ago. By now, who knows how many years they’ve been dead."
’What? All of them were Rank Four?’
’Beings who once trespassed in the War Relics?’
Tu Xiao’an was stunned. He then heard the man continue in a leisurely tone, "How the mighty have fallen. To think that this time the ruins emerged, not a single intruder’s Cultivation has reached Rank Four. They’re just too weak. Utterly, laughably weak."
The demonic-looking man sounded deeply disappointed, disappointed to the extreme.
Tu Xiao’an: "..."
’Is he trying to intimidate me again, but more subtly this time?’
’So he’s looking down on our whole group of intruders, thinking we’re not up to snuff.’
Tu Xiao’an’s heart sank. He knew the demonic-looking man wasn’t lying. Even in death, the residual might radiating from these corpses was incredibly strong.
They must have been Rank Four in life.
It was said that Rank Four was the level of a Divine Spirit, a Land Immortal—a state that could no longer be described by mere words like "transcendent" or even "Divine Transcendent."
Each one of them had been a legendary figure capable of shattering the heavens and sundering the earth.
And yet, here they were—those same legendary figures—reduced to a floor full of corpses.
