Invincible Snake Emperor
Chapter 786: Enter, and Become a Plaything
Chapter 786 -716: Enter, and Become a Plaything
Even for someone as battle-hardened as Tu Xiao’an, the scene before him was staggering.
‘How is this possible?’ He had tried to pull Xuanyuan He’s entire body out, but now all he held was the man’s head.
Decapitated!
His lower body gushed blood into the swamp, a garish crimson blooming silently like a demonic lotus on the peak of Celestial Sword Peak.
The body of a dignified High Rank War God wasn’t made of paper. It had been cultivated to its absolute limit. How could the head be separated from it so easily?
Tu Xiao’an stood there stunned, finding it hard to accept this reality.
But the facts were laid bare before him.
‘Did I lose control of my strength? Did I indirectly kill Xuanyuan He?’
‘My God!’
Tu Xiao’an sucked in a sharp breath. For him, killing was as common as breathing.
But this time, the death had sent him into a panic like a complete rookie.
His eyes slowly widened. Staring at the pale, breathless, and unresponsive head in his hand, it took a long time for Tu Xiao’an to come to his senses.
‘No, I didn’t kill him!’
Tu Xiao’an took a deep breath, his eyes glinting as he closely examined Xuanyuan He’s head. The wound at the neck stump was very strange.
It hadn’t been caused by a forceful pull at all.
Besides, Tu Xiao’an wouldn’t believe it even if you beat him to death—that a simple pull could end the life of a High Rank War God.
‘Damn it!’
He’d been played. If Tu Xiao’an wasn’t mistaken, Xuanyuan He had been beheaded long ago. He should have already been dead.
The unique, taboo nature of this Black Swamp had allowed him to cling to a sliver of life.
All just to toy with him.
“Come out! Get the hell out here! Do you think this is funny?”
Tu Xiao’an was seething with uncontrollable rage. His demonic and profound Snake King’s Eye swept across the area. A few drops of Xuanyuan He’s blood, which had sprayed up from the swamp, spattered his face, making him look like a Bloodthirsty Asura returned from Hell.
Suddenly, the sound of piercing wind tore through the air above the Black Swamp. It was immediately followed by a powerful Evil Qi that saturated the surroundings, closing in on Tu Xiao’an from all directions.
He stood alone, sharply encircled.
“Playing tricks,” Tu Xiao’an muttered, his unreleased Killing Intent making his eyes even sharper.
The vile beast from the War Relics was playing hide-and-seek with him.
It seemed that any creature who intruded upon the relics was nothing more than its plaything, its toy.
This was a game of slaughter, and it was the Sovereign.
A black silhouette darted over from the distance. It moved like a phantom, though its movements seemed very stiff. It finally landed atop the white pavilion.
‘Hmph. So you’ve decided to show yourself!’
Tu Xiao’an looked over, his pupils contracting. After a moment, he thought his eyes were playing tricks on him, that he was seeing things.
The black silhouette stood on the pavilion’s roof, holding a longsword that glinted with a cold light, its posture that of a master.
But… but, the person had no head! ℴ
That’s right, no head!
Aside from the missing head, everything else was intact. His longsword and his attire made Tu Xiao’an frown.
It was very familiar.
“Feng Linjie?”
Tu Xiao’an almost cried out in alarm. The headless body belonged to Feng Linjie.
That cowardly High Rank War God had been strong-armed by Tu Xiao’an into leading him to the War Relics.
But when they reached the great hall of the stone palace ruins, he saw the bloody head of his former companion, lost his nerve, and refused to go any further.
Tu Xiao’an hadn’t forced him.
After all, he had already arrived at the relics; Feng Linjie was now dispensable.
But had Feng Linjie been ambushed the moment they separated?
The headless body on the pavilion pointed its longsword at him, radiating a powerful, demonic aura.
The headless body moved. It suddenly lunged down from the top of the pavilion to attack Tu Xiao’an. The moment its sword was brought to bear, its demonic might surged.
“What the hell is going on?” Tu Xiao’an’s worldview was shattered. This was too twisted. What kind of War Relics were these, and what manner of evil creature was its master?
Even Tu Xiao’an was starting to feel the urge to leave this godforsaken place.
Thinking back, the War Relics in Wencheng seemed downright adorable. It was just an Ancient Taotie.
It couldn’t get out itself, so it just spawned some avatars.
It was harmless enough.
This mysterious War Relics was like stepping into a house of horrors; it made one’s skin crawl.
The mysterious monster seemed to enjoy separating people’s heads from their bodies.
The headless body charged, its demonic aura thick. This was Feng Linjie’s body; he was undoubtedly dead.
Who knew where his head had been put? His body was merely a puppet being controlled by something else.
Tu Xiao’an blocked the longsword with a backhand motion and kicked out.
The kick landed, and blood instantly gushed from the headless body’s neck stump. Tu Xiao’an’s expression changed, and he quickly retreated.
Getting sprayed by that torrent of blood was almost like being caught in a downpour—a rain of blood.
‘Damn, how frustrating.’
Gushing blood, the headless body charged again.
Tu Xiao’an fell back, then gritted his teeth and blasted it with a palm strike. The headless body exploded with a BOOM, turning into a mist of blood.
“Feng Linjie, don’t blame me. I told you to follow me, but you insisted on staying behind.”
With a sigh, Tu Xiao’an unleashed his Snake King aura with frantic intensity, causing the surrounding space to twist violently. “Come out! Come out if you have the guts! You want to take my head too, don’t you? Then come and get it, you coward hiding in the shadows!”
The most terrifying enemy is the one you can’t see.
One is out in the open, the other lurks in the dark, waiting for the right moment to strike.
An open attack is easy to dodge, but a hidden one is hard to defend against. Tu Xiao’an was sick of this feeling, of being played like a fool.
“Your head? I will naturally take it. But I don’t know when the next batch of people will arrive. It would be so boring if you died too soon.”
A mocking voice echoed eerily through the space of the Black Swamp.
Hearing the voice again, Tu Xiao’an’s brow twitched. “What do you mean? Are you saying that of all the people who came in, I’m the only one left alive?”
“Isn’t that right? Those people looked very strong, but they couldn’t withstand a single blow. Only you… you little snake, are a bit interesting. Therefore, I’ve decided to play with you a little longer, at least until the next batch arrives.”
A Skeleton Mountain had emerged from the center of X City. The monsters and Dao Fruit within it had attracted a large number of Martial Cultivators. Now that the relics had appeared, more and more Martial Cultivators and Demon Spirits were bound to come exploring.
Whether they came for their own opportunities or to seal the relics, as long as they reached the stone palace…
…they would all become its playthings.
“What did you say? They’re all dead?”
An intense Killing Intent and a terrifying aura of abyssal despair erupted from Tu Xiao’an. Elemental phenomena manifested all over his body as countless bolts of Thunder Shock bombarded the swamp and a torrent of Flame burned across the sky.
‘Is Luo Ziyun dead too?’
‘No way. That woman in the white pavilion…?’
Tu Xiao’an panicked. Even though he couldn’t fly, his figure shot toward the white pavilion like a phantom.
He had to see who that figure with their back to him really was.
As Tu Xiao’an dashed forward, the swamp before him churned. A layer of black film peeled up and swept toward him.
“Damn it! You’re trying to stop me?”
Tu Xiao’an threw a punch, and the black film instantly disintegrated.
There was no way Luo Ziyun could have died so easily.
That vile beast was definitely lying to him.
Tu Xiao’an desperately wanted to drag that vile beast out and brutalize it.
But he had no way to get his hands on it.
Right now, all he wanted was to rush into the pavilion and see who the woman with the beautiful figure was.
