Invincible Beyond Heavens: Cultivating With A Broken EXP System

Chapter 70: Bunch of Idiots!

Chapter 70: Bunch of Idiots!

“Nonsense. This is absolute nonsense.”

The moment the Grand Elder saw Li Yun, his aged face turned ashen with fury. He raised a trembling finger and pointed at Xi Luo as he scolded her harshly. “Xi Luo, your usual mischief is one thing, but how can you be so reckless with a matter like this? This concerns the head of the Xi Family and your own father’s life. How dare you treat something so serious with such carelessness? You are truly infuriating this old man.”

“Grand Elder, I am not acting recklessly,” Xi Luo replied, her expression filled with grievance. “Young Master Li can really save Father.”

“Just him? Impossible.”

The Grand Elder snorted coldly, his beard bristling as his eyes widened in anger. “All the renowned physicians of Phoenix Flame City were gathered together, yet none of them could find a way to save your father. How could a mere greenhorn, a boy who has barely come of age, be more capable than those famous doctors? Use your head and think carefully. This child is clearly trying to deceive you.”

It was not that the Grand Elder was being unreasonable. Li Yun simply looked far too young, no more than sixteen or seventeen years old, practically still a youth.

To possess a method capable of curing Xi Dong’s injuries, one would need to be at least a two star alchemist. For someone like Li Yun, a boy barely past his teens, to claim such a level was nothing short of absurd.

The Grand Elder glared coldly at Li Yun and barked, “You little swindler, you have chosen the wrong place to play your tricks. Do you think my Xi Family is somewhere you can deceive at will? Get out at once.”

“Young Master Li, please do not be angry,” Xi Luo said hurriedly when she heard this, panic rising in her heart. “The Grand Elder is only behaving this way because he is deeply worried about my father’s condition. That is why his words are so harsh. Please wait for a moment. I will speak with him and explain everything. I am certain I can make the Grand Elder believe you.”

She truly feared that Li Yun might leave in anger. If that happened, her father’s fate would be sealed. With that in mind, she quickly apologized to Li Yun and prepared to reason with the Grand Elder, determined to explain why she trusted Li Yun so completely.

“It does not matter,” Li Yun said with an indifferent smile as he stepped forward. He cupped his hands toward the Grand Elder and spoke calmly. “Grand Elder, since you do not know me, why are you so certain that I am a swindler?”

The Grand Elder snorted coldly. “Young man, do you even understand what the realm of a two star alchemist represents? It signifies a true great master of the Alchemy Dao, someone with an exceptionally deep comprehension of that path. Countless people devote their entire lives to studying alchemy and still fail to reach such a level. Yet you, a mere youth, dare to claim that you are a two star alchemist. If that is not deception, then what is it?”

Li Yun merely smiled and shook his head. “You are the one who should remain calm in this situation, yet you are the most impatient and anxious of all.”

“Outrageous,” the Grand Elder bellowed, his anger flaring. “You little brat, how dare you lecture this old man. How arrogant.”

His face twisted with fury as he roared, “I already gave you a chance to leave, but you refused to take it. Do not blame me, then. You wish to treat the head of my Xi Family, do you? Very well, I will grant you that opportunity. But let me be clear. If you fail to cure the Family Head, do not blame this old man for being merciless.”

“And what if I succeed?” Li Yun asked with a faint smile.

The Grand Elder replied without the slightest hesitation. “If you truly cure the head of my Xi Family, then this old man will immediately kneel and apologize to you before everyone in the Xi Family. From that day onward, I will obey any command you give.”

“Good,” Li Yun said with a smile.

“Then come with this old man,” the Grand Elder said with a snort, his anger still evident.

He immediately led Li Yun and Xi Luo into the independent courtyard. The three of them stopped before a simple and unadorned room, and the Grand Elder pushed the door open without hesitation.

Inside the spacious room, several elderly men dressed as physicians were gathered together, deep in discussion.

Not far from them stood a soft bed. Lying upon it was a middle aged man dressed in black robes, roughly forty years of age. His face was deathly pale, his brows tightly knitted, and the muscles of his face twitched from time to time, as though he were enduring constant and unbearable pain.

“Grand Elder, did I not tell you not to disturb us while we are discussing medical techniques?”

As soon as the group of physicians saw the Grand Elder barge in, a short old man in gray robes frowned deeply.

When his gaze shifted to Li Yun and Xi Luo following behind, his displeasure grew even stronger. “Grand Elder, I clearly instructed you not to interrupt us and not to bring outsiders in so casually. What exactly do you think you are doing?”

His tone was sharp and reprimanding, completely devoid of respect, as if he were scolding a servant rather than the dignified Grand Elder of the Xi Family.

Being spoken to in such a manner naturally angered the Grand Elder. However, he still needed these people to save the Xi Family head, so he forced himself to suppress his irritation and explained politely, “Physician Zhao, these two are not outsiders. One is Xi Luo, the daughter of the Xi Family head. The other, like all of you, is here to treat the head of my Xi Family.”

“What?”

The group of renowned physicians was taken aback, and their gazes immediately fixed on Li Yun. When they saw his youthful face, mocking expressions quickly appeared.

One of them scoffed. “Grand Elder, have you lost your mind, or are you so desperate that you would grasp at any straw? You actually brought such a young brat here to save the head of your Xi Family?”

The Grand Elder himself harbored doubts about Li Yun as well. Hearing such ridicule, he felt a surge of anger, yet he found himself unable to refute their words. In the end, he could only fall silent.

Li Yun could not be bothered with these so called renowned physicians who held themselves in such high regard. He did not even spare them a glance and walked straight to the bedside to examine Xi Dong’s condition.

“What an arrogant brat.”

“How dare he ignore us like this? That is utterly disrespectful.”

“Unacceptable.”

The group of famous doctors erupted in anger.

They were used to being treated with reverence wherever they went, and over the years, that respect had nurtured deep arrogance in their hearts. Since Li Yun claimed that he could treat the head of the Xi Family, that made him their colleague, or rather, a junior colleague.

In their view, a junior should bow respectfully upon meeting seniors and address them with proper courtesy. Yet Li Yun had completely ignored them, treating their presence as if it were irrelevant. To them, this was nothing short of blatant contempt.

Li Yun regarded their furious complaints as nothing more than the barking of dogs. His eyelids drooped slightly, and he could not be bothered to respond. All of his attention remained focused on Xi Dong.

’System, can you check what is wrong with Xi Dong?’ he asked silently.

[I can, but it will cost the host five hundred EXP.]

’Five hundred EXP?’ Li Yun frowned slightly and checked his current reserves.

[Name: Li Yun]

– Cultivation: [6th level of Body Tempering Realm]

– Physique: [Primal Chaos Body]

– Eye: [Nine Tribulations Divine Eye(Dormant)]

– Spirit Soul: [Yellow Soul]

– Comprehension: [3rd Tier]

– Experience: [4700]

’I have more than enough,’ Li Yun thought calmly. ’Proceed.’

[Five hundred EXP deducted.]

[Conducting a full assessment of Xi Dong.]

[Assessment complete. Abnormal energy detected within the head meridians. This condition can be cured using Purple Fruit, which the host currently possesses.]

’What if Red Blood Jade Ginseng had been used instead of Purple Fruit?’ Li Yun asked.

[Red Blood Jade Ginseng is excessively potent for the head meridians. Using it would cause the meridians to collapse.]

Li Yun’s expression darkened.

’If Xi Luo had not met me, her father would truly have been killed by these so called experts,’ he thought coldly.

With that, Li Yun turned around and walked toward Xi Luo, his expression grim as he asked, “Miss Xi, who suggested that you search for Red Blood Jade Ginseng to treat your father?”

“It was a method we discussed together. Why, do you have an objection, young man?”

The gray robed old man whom the Grand Elder had addressed as Physician Zhao immediately stood up. He looked at Li Yun with a cold and arrogant gaze, his chin slightly raised.

“You all came up with this idea together?” Li Yun lifted an eyebrow. He then turned to look at the Grand Elder and spoke bluntly, his tone sharp and unrestrained. “Elder Xi, these are the so called famous doctors you mentioned? These people are famous doctors? In my view, they are nothing more than a group of idiots.”

“What?”

The Grand Elder froze, staring at Li Yun with widened eyes.

These physicians were well known throughout Phoenix Flame City and even the surrounding regions. With their medical skills, they had saved countless lives, including those of influential figures. Because of this, each of them possessed deep connections and powerful backing.

Even the Xi Family had always been careful not to offend them, which was why the Grand Elder had endured being reprimanded earlier without exploding in anger. Part of it was because the Xi Family needed their help, and part of it was due to caution toward the forces standing behind them.

Yet Li Yun had openly cursed them as idiots without the slightest hesitation. It was shockingly bold.

Strangely enough, the Grand Elder felt a faint sense of satisfaction deep down.

“Young man, what did you just say?”

“Say it again if you dare.”

“Do you have any idea who we are? How dare you speak so arrogantly here?”

The group of famous doctors erupted in fury. One after another, they rose from their seats, glaring at Li Yun as if they wanted to tear him apart on the spot.

Li Yun snorted coldly, completely fearless. “Since you are so eager to hear it again, I will indulge you. I said that you so called famous doctors are nothing but a bunch of idiots.”
