Chapter 303: Boulder Inn
Chapter 303: Boulder Inn
After leaving Heaven Dew Peak, Li Yun headed directly toward the central district of Sword Saint County.
Even before he fully entered the busiest part of the county, he had already seen his destination from afar.
The Boulder Inn.
It rose above the surrounding streets and buildings like an ancient giant resting in the heart of the city. While mansions, merchant towers, sect compounds, and bustling marketplaces crowded every direction, this structure naturally dominated the eye the moment one looked toward it.
The entire inn had been designed to resemble a colossal natural boulder that had fallen from the heavens and later been carved into a grand place of lodging.
Its outer walls were formed from dark gray stone polished smooth by craftsmen of extraordinary skill. Yet despite that refinement, the building still retained natural ridges, curves, and rough contours that made it appear like a true mountain rock shaped by wind and age.
Layers of terraces, balconies, towers, halls, and elevated walkways had been built into the massive “boulder,” but from a distance it still looked like one enormous stone resting amid the city.
Because of its sheer scale, it could be seen from an incredible distance away.
Even in the crowded skyline of Sword Saint County, the Boulder Inn stood like a landmark that no one could ignore.
Li Yun could not help but smile when he saw it.
“With something this large, getting lost would be harder than finding it.”
As he drew closer, the true scale became even more apparent.
The front gates alone were several stories high. Thick stone pillars flanked the entrance, each engraved with formation runes and decorative carvings of dragons, swords, drifting clouds, and mountain beasts. Lanterns of spirit crystal glowed warmly around the entrance, while streams of people moved in and out without pause.
There were merchants in luxurious robes, wandering cultivators with weapons at their waists, sect disciples traveling in groups, noble families with attendants, guards escorting valuable cargo, and servants guiding spirit beast carts laden with goods.
The Boulder Inn looked less like a simple inn and more like a small city hidden inside stone walls.
Li Yun stepped through the grand entrance and entered the main hall.
The interior was vast and lively. Hundreds of lanterns hung from the high ceiling, bathing everything in warm golden light.
The floor beneath his feet was formed from polished black stone streaked with veins of gold. Tables and private seating areas filled the lower levels, where guests ate, drank, negotiated deals, boasted of battles, or loudly discussed matters of the martial world.
Above the central hall, multiple levels curved around the open interior in layered rings. Each level contained private chambers, resting suites, courtyards, balconies, and passageways that extended deeper into the structure.
Bridges connected separate wings, while carved stairways rose toward upper districts reserved for wealthier guests.
Even the air felt unusually refreshing.
Li Yun immediately sensed the presence of formations throughout the inn. Spiritual energy was subtly drawn inward and circulated through the structure, keeping the environment pleasant and making it attractive to wealthy cultivators who valued comfort and recovery.
He walked toward the main reception platform where attendants and deacons were handling incoming guests.
A middle-aged deacon in brown robes noticed Li Yun’s bearing and stepped forward with practiced politeness.
“How may this humble one assist Young Master?”
Li Yun took out his identity token and revealed the mark of a true disciple of Martial Ascension Gate.
“I was informed that my sect reserved an area here. Take me there.”
The moment the deacon saw the token, his expression became notably more respectful.
“So it is a true disciple of the Martial Ascension Gate. Please follow me.”
He did not ask unnecessary questions. Instead, he immediately led Li Yun through a side corridor and deeper into the inn.
As they walked, Li Yun gradually realized the true scale of the Boulder Inn.
The outer hall had already seemed enormous, yet the interior extended far deeper than expected. They passed through one courtyard after another, each designed for different purposes.
Some contained open training grounds where guests could practice safely beneath protective formations. Some held gardens filled with spirit flowers, decorative stones, and flowing streams. Others were private banquet courtyards guarded by attendants, clearly reserved for wealthy forces or noble guests.
They crossed inner bridges linking different stone sections of the inn and passed several gated districts where guards quietly stood watch. At one point, they entered an entirely separate residential quarter clearly reserved for major sects and powerful organizations.
Li Yun’s eyes narrowed slightly as he observed everything.
This place was not merely large.
It was absurdly vast.
He felt that many forces the size of the current Martial Ascension Gate delegation could stay here at the same time, and there would still remain empty rooms, spare courtyards, banquet halls, and private chambers for others.
No wonder the Boulder Inn was famous throughout Sword Saint County.
This place had not been built for ordinary travelers. It had been built to host great sects, wealthy powers, and figures whose presence alone carried influence.
After some time, the deacon finally slowed his pace before a tall carved door set within a quiet inner courtyard. The noise of the outer halls had faded entirely by now, replaced by a calm and disciplined atmosphere.
Several disciples of Martial Ascension Gate stood nearby as guards, and above the entrance the symbol of the sect had been placed discreetly.
The deacon turned respectfully toward Li Yun.
“Young Master, this is the area reserved for the Martial Ascension Gate.”
Li Yun gave a small nod.
“You have done well.”
The deacon immediately bowed deeply.
“This humble one takes his leave.”
With that, he withdrew quietly and departed the courtyard.
Li Yun remained standing before the great door for a moment. His gaze rose to the sect symbol above the entrance, and a faint smile appeared on his face.
It was time to see why Peak Lord Shen Ming had summoned him here.
